Heated Exterior Mirror (If Equipped)
When you switch the heated rear windowon, the heated exterior mirrors willautomatically turn on.
Note:Do not remove ice from the mirrorswith a scraper or adjust the mirror glasswhen it is frozen in place.
Note:Do not clean the mirror housing orglass with harsh abrasives, fuel or otherpetroleum-based cleaning products.
HEATED WINDSHIELD
Press the button to clear theheated windshield of thin ice andfog. The heated windshield willautomatically turn off after a short periodof time. Start the engine before you switchthe heated windshield on.
AUXILIARY HEATER
Fuel Operated Parking Heater
WARNING
Do not use the fuel operated parkingheater at fuel filling stations or nearsources of combustible vapors, dustor in enclosed spaces. This could result inserious personal injury or death.
The system warms the engine and thevehicle interior; it uses fuel from the vehiclefuel tank. The system only operates whenyour vehicle is stationary with the engineswitched off.
Used correctly the system:
•Warms the engine and the vehicleinterior.
•Keeps the windows clear of ice in theevent of frost and preventscondensation.
•Avoids cold starts to assist the engineto reach operating temperature sooner.
Following a heating cycle, if you do notstart the engine the system will not turnon the next programmed heating cycle.
Following a heating cycle, we recommendthat you drive your vehicle for at least thesame period of time as the heating cycle.This prevents the vehicle battery fromrunning out of charge.
We recommend you switch the system onfor approximately 10 minutes every monthto prevent the water pump or heater motorseizing.
The system only operates if there is aminimum of 16 liters (3.5 gallons) of fuelin the vehicle fuel tank and the outside airtemperature is below 59°F (15°C). Thesystem does not operate if the batterycharge level is low.
Note:When the system is operating,exhaust fumes will come from under yourvehicle. This is normal.
Note:On vehicles with manual climatecontrol, heating the vehicle interior dependson the heater control settings. See ClimateControl (page 111).
Programming the Fuel OperatedParking Heater
Use the information display controls onthe steering wheel. See InformationDisplays (page 86).
Note:The time and date on your vehicle’sclock must be set correctly. See SYNC™ 2(page 343).

Select to set a second heating cycle, for example differenttimes on different days or twice on the same day.

Programming the Time Functions
Set the time you want your vehicle to bewarm and ready to drive. Use theinformation display controls on thesteering wheel. See InformationDisplays (page 86).
1.Select the desired days you want thesystem to warm up your vehicle.Highlight each desired day and pressthe OK button.
2.Highlight the time at the top of themenu and press the OK button. Thehours flash.
3.Set the hours using the up and downarrow buttons.
4.Press the right arrow button. Theminutes flash. Set the minutes usingthe up and down arrow buttons. Pressthe OK button.
Programming the Once Function
Selecting this function allows you toprogram one heating cycle for one specificday.
Set the time you want your vehicle to bewarm and ready to drive. Use theinformation display controls on thesteering wheel. See InformationDisplays (page 86).
1.Highlight the time at the top of themenu and press the OK button. Thehours start to flash.
2.Set the hours using the up and downarrow buttons.

WARNING
Do not use the fuel operated parkingheater at fuel filling stations or nearsources of combustible vapors, dustor in enclosed spaces. This could result inserious personal injury or death.
The heater operates by warming theengine cooling system, it uses fuel fromthe vehicle fuel tank. The system onlyoperates when your vehicle is stationarywith the engine switched off.
The system only operates if there is aminimum of 16 liters (3.5 gallons) of fuelin the vehicle fuel tank. The system will notoperate if the battery charge level is low.
The system automatically turns on and offdepending on the engine coolanttemperature when the outside airtemperature is below 37°F (3°C), unlessyou have switched it off.
Note:The default setting is on.
Note:When the system is operating,exhaust fumes will come from under yourvehicle. This is normal.
Note:On vehicles with manual climatecontrol, heating the vehicle interior dependson the heater control settings. See ClimateControl (page 111).

POSITION
WARNINGS
Do not recline the seat backrest toofar as this can cause the occupantto slide under the safety belt,resulting in serious injury in the event of acrash.
Sitting improperly, out of position orwith the seat backrest reclined toofar, can result in serious injury ordeath in the event of a crash. Always situpright against your seat backrest, withyour feet on the floor.
Do not place objects higher than theseat backrest to reduce the risk ofserious injury in the event of a crashor during heavy braking.
When you use them properly, the seat,head restraint, safety belt and airbags willprovide optimum protection in the eventof a crash.
We recommend that you follow theseguidelines:
•Sit in an upright position with the baseof your spine as far back as possible.
•Do not recline the seat backrest morethan 30 degrees.
•Adjust the head restraint so that thetop of it is level with the top of yourhead and as far forward as possible.Make sure that you remaincomfortable.
•Keep sufficient distance betweenyourself and the steering wheel. Werecommend a minimum of 10 inches(25 centimeters) between yourbreastbone and the airbag cover.
•Hold the steering wheel with your armsslightly bent.
•Bend your legs slightly so that you canpress the pedals fully.
•Position the shoulder strap of thesafety belt over the center of yourshoulder and position the lap straptightly across your hips.
Make sure that your driving position iscomfortable and that you can maintain fullcontrol of your vehicle.
HEAD RESTRAINTS
WARNINGS
Fully adjust the head restraint beforeyou sit in or operate your vehicle. Thiswill help minimize the risk of neckinjury in the event of a crash. Do not adjustthe head restraint when your vehicle ismoving.
Raise the rear head restraints whenpassengers occupy the rear seats.
When using a forward facing childrestraint on a rear seat, alwaysremove the head restraint from thatseat.

1.Press the Menu Settings icon, thenVehicle. Choose Multi-Contour Seats.
2.Choose the desired seat to adjust.
3.Press OFF, LO or HI.
MEMORY FUNCTION
WARNINGS
Before activating the seat memory,make sure that the area immediatelysurrounding the seat is clear ofobstructions and that all occupants areclear of moving parts.
Do not use the memory functionwhen your vehicle is moving.
This feature automatically recalls theposition of the driver seat, power mirrorsand power steering column. The memorycontrol is located on the driver door.

1.Switch the ignition on.
2.Adjust the seat, exterior mirrors andsteering column to your desiredposition.
3.Press and hold the desired presetbutton until you hear a single tone.
You can save up to three preset memorypositions. You can save a memory presetat any time.
Recalling a PreSet Position
Press and release the preset buttonassociated with your desired drivingposition. The seat, mirrors and steeringcolumn move to the position stored forthat preset.
Note:You can only recall a preset memoryposition when the ignition is off, or when thetransmission is in park (P) or neutral (N)(and your vehicle is not moving) if theignition is on.
You can recall a preset memory positionby pressing the unlock button on yourremote control or intelligent access key ifit is linked to a preset position.
Linking a PreSet Position to YourRemote Control or IntelligentAccess Key
Your vehicle can save the preset memorypositions for up to three remote controlsor intelligent access keys.
1.With the ignition on, move the memorypositions to the desired positions.
2.Press and hold the desired presetbutton for about five seconds. A tonesounds after about two seconds.Continue holding until a second toneis heard.
3.Within three seconds, press the lockbutton on the remote control you arelinking.
To unlink a remote control, follow thesame procedure – except in step 3, pressthe unlock button on the remote control.
Note:Pressing any active memory featureadjustment control - power seat, mirror, oroptional steering column switch or anymemory button – during a memory recallcancels the operation.
A seat recall movement will also stop ifyou drive your vehicle.
Note:If more than one linked remotecontrol or intelligent access key is in range,the memory function moves to the settingsof the first key stored.
Easy Entry and Exit Function
If you enable the easy entry and exitfeature, it automatically moves the driverseat position rearward up to fivecentimeters when the transmission is inpark (P) and you remove the key or turnoff the keyless start ignition.
The driver seat returns to the previousposition when you put the key in theignition or you activate the keyless startignition.
You can switch off the easy entry and exitfeature by using the driver informationdisplay.

Press the button once without your footon the brake or clutch pedal. It is locatedon the instrument panel near the steeringwheel. All electrical circuits andaccessories are operational and thewarning lamps and indicators illuminate.
Press the button again without your footon the brake or clutch pedal to turn yourvehicle off completely.
Starting Your Vehicle
Manual Transmission
1.Fully depress the clutch pedal.
2.Briefly press the button.
Note:Releasing the clutch pedal duringengine start will stop the engine and returnto ignition on.
Automatic Transmission
1.Move the transmission selector leverto park.
2.Fully depress the brake pedal.
3.Briefly press the button.
Note:Releasing the brake pedal duringengine start will stop the engine and returnto ignition on.
Diesel Engine
Note:Engine start will not commence untilthe engine glow plug cycle has beencompleted. This may take several secondsin extremely cold conditions.
STEERING WHEEL LOCK -
VEHICLES WITHOUT: KEYLESS
ENTRY AND PUSH BUTTON

WARNING
Always check that the steering isunlocked before attempting to moveyour vehicle.
To lock the steering wheel:
1.Remove the key from the ignitionswitch.
2.Rotate the steering wheel slightly toengage the lock.
To unlock the steering wheel:
1.Insert the key in the ignition switch.
2.Turn the key to position I.
Note:You may need to rotate the steeringwheel slightly to assist unlocking if there isa steering wheel load applied.
STEERING WHEEL LOCK -
VEHICLES WITH: KEYLESS
ENTRY AND PUSH BUTTON
START
Your vehicle has an electronicallycontrolled steering wheel lock thatoperates automatically.

Note:The system will not lock the steeringwheel when the ignition is on or while yourvehicle is moving.
Unlocking the Steering Wheel
Switch the ignition on to unlock thesteering wheel.
Note:You may have to rotate the steeringwheel slightly to assist unlocking.
STARTING A GASOLINE
ENGINE
When you start the engine, the idle speedincreases. This helps to warm up theengine. If the engine idle speed does notslow down automatically, have yourvehicle checked by an authorized dealer.
Note:You can crank the engine for a totalof 60 seconds (without the engine starting)before the starting system temporarilydisables. The 60 seconds does not have tobe all at once. For example, if you crank theengine three times for 20 seconds eachtime, without the engine starting, youreached the 60-second time limit. Amessage appears in the information displayalerting you that you exceeded the crankingtime. You cannot attempt to start the enginefor at least 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, youare limited to a 15-second engine crankingtime. You need to wait 60 minutes beforeyou can crank the engine for 60 secondsagain.
Before starting your vehicle, check thefollowing:
•Make sure all occupants have fastenedtheir safety belts.
•Make sure the headlamps andelectrical accessories are off.
•Make sure the parking brake is on.
•Move the transmission selector leverto a low gear (manual transmission)or park (P) (automatic transmission).
•Switch the ignition key to position II. Ifyour vehicle is equipped with a keylessignition, see the following instructions.
Vehicles with an Ignition Key
Note:Do not touch the accelerator pedal.
1.Fully press the brake pedal. If yourvehicle is equipped with a manualtransmission, fully press the clutchpedal also.
2.Turn the key to position III to start theengine. Release the key when theengine starts.
Note:The engine may continue crankingfor up to 15 seconds or until it starts.
Note:If you cannot start the engine on thefirst try, wait for a short period and try again.
Vehicles with Keyless Start
Note:Do not touch the accelerator pedal.
Note:You must have your intelligent accesskey in the vehicle in order to shift thetransmission out of park (P).
1.Fully press the clutch pedal (manualtransmission) or brake pedal(automatic transmission).
2.Press the button.
