Removing the Head Restraint
1.Press and hold buttons C.
2.Pull up the head restraint.
Installing the Head Restraint
Align the steel stems into the guide sleevesand push the head restraint down until itlocks.
Tilting Head Restraints (If Equipped)
The front head restraints tilt for extracomfort. To tilt the head restraint, do thefollowing:
1.Adjust the seat back to an uprightdriving or riding position.
2.Pivot the head restraint forward towardyour head to the desired position.
After the head restraint reaches theforward-most tilt position, pivot it forwardagain to release it to the rearward, un-tiltedposition.
Note:Do not attempt to force the headrestraint backward after it is tilted. Instead,continue tilting it forward until the headrestraint releases to the upright position.
MANUAL SEATS
WARNING
Do not adjust the driver's seat or seatback when your vehicle is moving.
Moving the Seat Backward andForward
Recline Adjustment

This feature will automatically recall theposition of the driver's seat, power mirrors,and adjustable pedals. The memorycontrol is located on the driver's door.
To program position 1:
1.Move the memory features to thedesired positions using the associatedcontrols.
2.Press and hold button 1 for at least twoseconds. A chime will sound confirmingthat a memory position has been set.
To program position 2, repeat the previousprocedure using button 2.
You can program the memory feature toa remote entry transmitter. See Keys andRemote Controls (page 46).
You can recall a programmed memoryposition:
•in any gearshift position if the ignitionis not on.
•only in position P or N if the ignition ison.
You can recall the memory positions whenyou press your remote entry transmitterunlock control (if the transmitter isprogrammed to a memory position) or,when you enter a valid personal entry codethat is programmed to a memory position.The mirrors will move to the programmedposition and the seat will move to the easyentry position. The seat will move to thefinal position when the key is in the ignition(if easy entry feature is enabled).
Easy Entry and Exit Feature (If
Equipped)
If you enable the easy entry and exitfeature, it automatically moves the driver'sseat rearward 2 inches (5 centimeters)when the transmission selector lever is inposition P and the key is removed from theignition.
If the seat is located less than 2 inches (5centimeters) from the rear of the seattrack, the seat travel will be less than 2inches (5 centimeters) rearward.
The driver's seat will return to the previousposition when the key is put in the ignition.
You can enable or disable this featurethrough the information display. SeeInformation Displays (page 81).
REAR SEATS
Folding Up the Rear Seats (SuperCab)

1.Pull the control to release the seatcushion.
2.Rotate the seat cushion up until it locksinto the vertical storage position.
Returning the Seat to the SeatingPosition
WARNING
Make sure that cargo or any objectsare not trapped underneath the seatcushion before returning the seatcushion to its original position, and that theseat cushion locks into place. Failure to doso may prevent the seat from operatingproperly in the event of a crash, whichcould increase the risk of serious injury.
1.Pull the control on the side of the seatto release the seat cushion from thestorage position.
2.Push the seat cushion down until itlocks into the horizontal position.
Folding the Rear Seat Back (CrewCab)
1.Pull forward on the control to folddown the seatback.
2.Pull down on the handle and lift up onthe seatback to return it to the originalposition.
Folding up the Rear Seat Cushion
1.Pull the control to release the seatcushion.
2.Rotate the seat cushion up until it locksinto the vertical storage position.
Returning the Seat to the SeatingPosition
WARNING

Rear Under Seat Storage (CrewCab) (If Equipped)
The rear seat has storage space locatedunder the seat cushion.
Lift up the lever and flip up the seatcushion to access the storage space andthe power point (A).
To remove the storage space divider,squeeze the sides and lift it from thestorage tub.
Use your vehicle key to lock the storagespace.
HEATED SEATS (IF EQUIPPED)
WARNING
People who are unable to feel painto their skin because of advancedage, chronic illness, diabetes, spinalcord injury, medication, alcohol use,exhaustion or other physical conditions,must exercise care when using the heatedseat. The heated seat may cause burnseven at low temperatures, especially ifused for long periods of time. Do not placeanything on the seat that insulates againstheat, such as a blanket or cushion. Thismay cause the heated seat to overheat.Do not puncture the seat with pins, needlesor other pointed objects. This may damagethe heating element which may cause theheated seat to overheat. An overheatedseat may cause serious personal injury.
Do not do the following:
•Place heavy objects on the seat.
•Operate the heated seat if water or anyother liquid is spilled on the seat. Allowthe seat to dry thoroughly.
•Operate the heated seats unless theengine is running. Doing so can causethe battery to lose charge.

To remove a filter:
1.Turn the vehicle off.
2.Push up on the outside rigid edge ofthe filter until the tabs are released,then remove the filter.
To install a filter:
1.First, position the filter in its housingmaking sure that the far forward endis all the way up in the housing.
2.Push in on the center of the outsideedge of the filter and rotate clockwiseinto the housing until it clips intoposition.
FRONT SEAT ARMREST
Press the button on the right-hand side ofthe seat and pull the seatback down torelease the armrest. You can also gainaccess to the cupholders and seatbackstorage bin.
Pull up on the tab to open the storage bin
Lift up on the seatback to return it to theupright position.
If your vehicle has an under-seat storagecompartment in the seat cushion, lift thelatch to open the lid of the compartment.You cannot open the lid when the armrestis down.

The under-seat storage compartment hasa programmable lock. Use the ignition keyto program the lock to the compartment.You can power or charge electronics usingthe under-seat storage compartmentauxiliary power point. See AuxiliaryPower Points (page 129).

HomeLink Wireless ControlSystem (If Equipped)

Do not use the system with anygarage door opener that does nothave the safety stop and reversefeature as required by U.S. Federal SafetyStandards (this includes any garage dooropener manufactured before April 1, 1982).A garage door opener that cannot detectan object, signaling the door to stop andreverse, does not meet current federalsafety standards. Using a garage dooropener without these features increasesthe risk of serious injury or death.
Note:Make sure that the garage door andsecurity device are free from obstructionwhen you are programming. Do not programthe system with the vehicle in the garage.
Note:Make sure you keep the originalremote control transmitter for use in othervehicles as well as for future systemprogramming.
Note:We recommend that, upon the saleor lease termination of your vehicle, youerase the programmed function buttons forsecurity reasons. See Erasing the ButtonCodes later in this section.
Note:You can program a maximum ofthree devices. To change or replace any ofthe three devices after you haveprogrammed them, you must first erase thecurrent settings. See Erasing the ButtonCodes later in this section.
The universal garage door opener replacesthe common hand-held garage dooropener with a three-button transmitter,integrated into the driver’s sun visor.
The system includes two primary features,a garage door opener and a platform forremote activation of devices within thehome. This functionality allows you toprogram garage door openers as well asentry gate operators, security systems,entry door locks and home or officelighting.

Removable Front Cupholders
You can lift the two cupholder modulesout. You can also remove the false bottomfor hidden storage or to hold a large cup.

STARTING A GASOLINE
ENGINE
When you start the engine, the idle speedincreases, this helps to warm up theengine. If the engine idle speed does notslow down automatically, have yourvehicle checked by an authorized dealer.
Before starting the engine check thefollowing:
•Make sure all occupants have fastenedtheir safety belts.
•Make sure the headlamps andelectrical accessories are off.
•Make sure the parking brake is on.
•Move the transmission selector leverto position P.
•Turn the ignition key to the on position.
Note:Do not touch the accelerator pedal.
1.Fully press the brake pedal.
2.Turn the key to the start position tostart the engine. Release the key whenthe engine starts.
Note:The engine may continue crankingfor up to 15 seconds or until it starts.
Note:If you cannot start the engine on thefirst try, wait for a short period and try again.
Failure to Start
If you cannot start the engine after threeattempts, wait 10 seconds and follow thisprocedure:
1.Fully press the brake pedal.
2.Fully press the accelerator pedal andhold it there.
3.Start the engine.
Stopping the Engine When YourVehicle is Stationary
1.Move the transmission selector leverto position P.
2.Turn the key to the off position.
3.Apply the parking brake.
Stopping the Engine When YourVehicle is Moving
WARNING
Switching off the engine when thevehicle is still moving will result in aloss of brake and steering assistance.The steering will not lock, but higher effortwill be required. When the ignition isswitched off, some electrical circuits,warning lamps and indicators may also beoff.
1.Move the transmission selector leverto position N and use the brakes tobring your vehicle to a safe stop.
2.When your vehicle has stopped, movethe transmission selector lever toposition P and turn the key to the offposition.
3.Apply the parking brake.
Cold Weather Starting (FlexibleFuel Vehicles Only)
The starting characteristics of all gradesof E85 ethanol make it unsuitable for usewhen ambient temperatures fall below0°F (-18°C). Consult your fuel distributorfor the availability of winter grade ethanol.As the outside temperature approachesfreezing, ethanol fuel distributors shouldsupply winter grade ethanol (same as withunleaded gasoline). If summer gradeethanol is used in cold weather conditions,0°F to 32°F (-18°C to 0°C), you mayexperience increased cranking times, roughidle or hesitation until the engine haswarmed up.
You may experience a decrease in peakperformance when the engine is cold whenoperating on E85 ethanol.

Do not crank the engine for more than 10seconds at a time as starter damage mayoccur. If the engine fails to start, turn thekey to off and wait 30 seconds beforetrying again.
Do not use starting fluid such as ether inthe air intake system. Such fluid couldcause immediate explosive damage to theengine and possible personal injury.
If you should experience cold weatherstarting problems on E85 ethanol, andneither an alternative brand of E85 ethanolnor an engine block heater is available, theaddition of unleaded gasoline to your tankimproves cold starting performance. Yourvehicle is designed to operate on E85ethanol alone, unleaded gasoline alone, orany mixture of the two.
If the Engine Fails to Start Using thePreceding Instructions (Flexible FuelVehicles Only)
1.Press and hold down the acceleratorone-third to one-half the way to thefloor, then crank the engine.
2.When the engine starts, release thekey, then gradually release theaccelerator pedal as the engine speedsup. If the engine still fails to start,repeat Step 1.
Guarding Against Exhaust Fumes
WARNING
If you smell exhaust fumes insideyour vehicle, have your vehiclechecked by your authorized dealerimmediately. Do not drive your vehicle ifyou smell exhaust fumes. Carbonmonoxide is present in exhaust fumes.Take precautions to avoid its dangerouseffects.
Important Ventilating Information
If you stop your vehicle and the leave theengine idling for long periods of time, werecommend that you do one of thefollowing:
•Open the windows at least 1 inch (2.5centimeters)
•Set your climate control to outside air.
ENGINE BLOCK HEATER (IF
EQUIPPED)
WARNINGS
Failure to follow engine block heaterinstructions could result in propertydamage or serious personal injury.
Do not use your heater withungrounded electrical systems ortwo-pronged adapters. There is a riskof electrical shock.
Note:The heater is most effective whenoutdoor temperatures are below 0°F(-18°C).
The heater acts as a starting aid bywarming the engine coolant. This allowsthe climate control system to respondquickly. The equipment includes a heaterelement (installed in the engine block) anda wire harness. You can connect thesystem to a grounded 120-volt ACelectrical source.
We recommend that you do the followingfor a safe and correct operation:
•Use a 16-gauge outdoor extension cordthat is product certified byUnderwriter’s Laboratory (UL) orCanadian Standards Association(CSA). This extension cord must besuitable for use outdoors, in cold
