If the Malfunction Indica tor Lamp Comes On or
Blinks ■ Reasons for indicator lamp to come on or blink
• Comes on when there is a problem with the engine emissions control
system, or the fuel fill cap is missing, or loose.
• Blinks when engine misfiring is detected.
■ What to do when the indicator lamp comes on
Avoid high speeds and immediately ge t your vehicle inspected at an
authorized Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid dealer.
■ What to do when the indicator lamp blinks
Park the vehicle in a safe place with no flammable items and wait at least
10 minutes or more with the power system stopped until it cools.
■ The message appears on when:
An evaporative system leak is detected. This may be caused by the fuel fill cap being
loose or not being installed.
■ What to do when the message appears:
1. Stop the power system.
2. Check if the fuel fill cap is fully installed.
u If not, loosen the cap, and then retight en it until it clicks at least once.
3. Drive for several days of normal driving.
u The message should go off.
■ When the malfunction indicator lamp comes on
The malfunction indicator lamp comes on if the system continues to detect a leak of
gasoline vapor. If this happens, follow th e procedures described earlier to check the
fuel fill cap.■ Tighten Fuel Cap Message 1 If the Malfunction Indicato r Lamp Comes On or BlinksNOTICE
If you drive with the malf unction indicator lamp on,
the emissions control system and the engine could be
damaged.
If the malfunction indicator lamp blinks again when
restarting the engine, drive to the nearest an
authorized Honda Clarity Plug- In Hybrid dealer at 31

Blinks ■ Reasons for the indicator to come on
• The brake fluid is low.
• There is a malfunction in the brake system.
■ What to do when the indicator comes on while driving
Depress the brake pedal lightly to check pedal pressure.
• If normal, check the brake fluid level the next time you stop.
• If abnormal, take immediate action. If necessary, slow the vehicle
using the deceleration paddle selector.
■ Reason for the indicator to blink
• There is a problem with the electric parking brake system.
■ What to do when the indicator blinks
Avoid using the parking brake and ha ve your vehicle checked by an
authorized Honda Clarity Plug-I n Hybrid dealer immediately. 1 If the Brake System Indicator (Red) Comes On or Blinks
Have your vehicle re paired immediately.
It is dangerous to drive with low brake fluid. If there
is no resistance from the brake pedal, stop
immediately in a safe plac e. If necessary, downshift
the gears.
If the brake system indicator and ABS indicator come
on simultaneously, the elec tronic brake distribution
system is not working. Th is can result in vehicle
instability under sudden braking.
Have your vehicle inspected by an authorized Honda
Clarity Plug-In Hybrid dealer immediately.
If the brake system indicator (red) blinks at the same
time when the brake system indicator (amber) comes
on, the parking br ake may not work.
Avoid using the parking brak e and have your vehicle

If the Electric Power Steeri ng (EPS) System Indicator
Comes On ■ Reasons for the indicator to come on
• Comes on when there is a problem with the EPS system.
• If you depress the accelerator peda l repeatedly to increase the motor
speed while the motor is idling, the indicator comes on, and
sometimes the steering wheel becomes harder to operate.
• Comes on when the EPS steering angle center point memory is lost.
This could be due to a number of problems including: battery
disconnection, main fuse blow, low battery causing the reset of the
EPS system, wire damage to EPS harness. Vehicle Stability Assist ®
(VSA ® ), VSA ® OFF, Collision Mitigation Braking System TM
(CMBS TM
),
and low tire pressure/TPMS indicato rs come on along with a message
in the driver information interface.
■ What to do when th e indicator comes on
• Stop the vehicle in a safe place, turn off the power system, and turn
on the power system again.
If the indicator re-appears and stay s on, immediately have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized Hond a Clarity Plug-In Hybrid dealer.
• If VSA ® indicator, VSA ® OFF indicator, CMBS TM
indicator, and low tire
pressure/TPMS indicator come on al ong with a message in the driver
information interface, you need to calibrate the VSA ® and EPS
systems.
Drive a short distance at more than 12 mph (20 km/h) to calibrate the
VSA ® and EPS systems.
If the indicators come on and stay on, park your vehicle in a safe
place, turn off and turn on the po wer system, then repeat the above
operation.
If the indicators still come on and stay on, immediately have your

on, the parking brake may not work because it is

If the Low Tire Pressure/ TPMS Indicator Comes On or
Blinks ■ Reasons for the indicator to come on or blink
A tire pressure is significantly low, or the TPMS has not been calibrated.
If there is a problem with the TPMS, the indicator blin ks for about one
minute, and then stays on.
■ What to do when th e indicator comes on
Drive carefully and avoid abrupt cornering and hard braking.
Stop your vehicle in a safe place. Ch eck the tire pressure and adjust the
pressure to the specified level. The spec ified tire pressure is on a label on
the driver’s side doorjamb.
u Calibrate the TPMS after the tire pressure is adjusted.
■ What to do when the indica tor blinks, then remains on
Have the tire inspected by an aut horized Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid
dealer as soon as possible. 1 If the Low Tire Pressure/TPMS Indicator Comes On or BlinksNOTICE
Driving on an extremely unde rinflated tire can cause
it to overheat. An overheated tire can fail. Always

and check to see if any applicable fuse is
blown.
