SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM {SRSI
The Integra SRS includes a driver's airbag. located in the steering wheel hub, In addition, all models except the
RS model for Canada have a front passenger's airbag located in the dashboard above the glove box. Information
necessarv to safely service the SRS is included in this Service Manual. ltems marked with an asterisk {') on the
contents page include, or are located near, SRS components. Servicing. disassembling or replacing these items
will require special precautions and tools, and should therefore be done by an authorized Acura dealer.

NOTE: The original radio has a coded thett protection circuit. Be sure to get the customer's code number before
- disconnecting the battery.- removing the No. 32 (7.5 A) tuse from the under-hood fuse/relay box.
- removing the radio.
Alter service, reconnect power to the radio and turn it on. When the word "CODE" is displayed' enter the cus-
tomer's 5-digit code to restore radio operation.

yellow insulation.
. Before disconnecting any part oI the SRS wiro har-
ness, connect the 3hort connector{g}.
. Replace the entire sffected SRS harness assembly it
it has an opon circuit or damaged wiring.

Disconnect the negative and positive cable from the
battery.
Remove the access panel from the steering wheel
lower cover, then remove the shon connector.
Disconnect the connector between the airbag and
cable reel.
Connect the shon connector to the airbag side of
the connector.
Remove the lid B and cruise control set/resume
switch cover.
Remove the TORX@ T30 bit bolts then remove the
airbag assembly.

Remove the column covers

Remove the airbag assembly and steering wheel

Remove the lower cover.
Remove the driver's knee bolster.

1. Slip the upper end of the steering joint onto the col-
umn shaft {line up the bolt hole with the flat on the
shaft), and loosely install the upper steering joint
bolt.
UPPER STEERING JOINT BOLTBolt must line up withflat on shaft.
STEERINGJOINT
Slip the lower end of the steering joint onto the pin-
ion shaft. Line up the bolt hole with the groove
around the shaft) and loosely jnstallthe lower bolt.
NOTE:
. Be sure that the lower steering joint bolt. is
securely in the groove in the steering gearbox
pinion.
. Before tightening the steering joint bolts, pull on
the sleering joint to make sure that the steeringjoint is fully seated.

Install the steering column with the flange nuts,then installthe column holder and flange bolts.
Tighten the upper and lower steering joint boltsloosely installed in steD 2,

Install the steering joint cover with the clamps andclip.

move the instrument panel.
3. Remove the coin oocket.

necl the positive cable.
NOTE: The original radio has a coded theft protec
