1. Crankcase Emission Control Sys-
tem
The positive crankcase ventilation system is
employed to prevent air pollution caused by H010A01A-GAT
EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEMS (If Installed)
Your Hyundai is equipped with an emission
control system to meet all requirements of the Emission prohibition rules of your province.
There are three emission control systems which
are as follows.
(1) Crankcase emission control system (2) Evaporative emission control system(3) Exhaust emission control system In order to assure the proper function of the
emission control systems, it is recommended that you have your car inspected and main-tained by an authorized Hyundai dealer in ac-cordance with the maintenance schedule in thismanual. H010C01F-GAT
2. Evaporative Emission Control Sys-
tem (If Installed)
The evaporative emission control system is
designed to prevent fuel vapors from escapinginto the atmosphere. Canister
While the engine is inoperative, fuel vapors
generated inside the fuel tank are absorbed and stored in the canister. When the engine is
running, the fuel vapors absorbed in the canis-ter are drawn into the induction system throughthe purge control solenoid valve. Purge Control Solenoid Valve
The purge control solenoid valve is controlled
by the ECM; when the engine coolant tempera- ture is low, and during idling, it closes, so that
evaporated fuel is not taken into the engine.After engine warm-up, during ordinary driving, itopens so as to introduce evaporated fuel to theengine. H010D01A-AAT
3. Exhaust Emission Control System
The exhaust emission control system is a high-
ly effective system which controls exhaust emis-sions while maintaining good vehicleperformace.

Catalytic Converter
SSA7020A
The catalytic converter is part of the exhaust
emission control system. Its purpose is to re- move certain engine emission products fromthe engine's exhaust. It looks something like amuffler and is located underneath the car in theexhaust system.
blow-by gases being emitted from the crank-
case. This system supplies fresh air to the
crankcase through the air cleaner. Inside thecrankcase, the fresh air mixes with blow-bygases, then passes through the PCV valve intothe induction system.

Responsibilty For Maintenance
It is the responsibility of the vehicle owner/driver to ensure that all routine mainte- nance services are undertaken in line with the recommendations specified in Section 5 of this manual. In addition, in order to ensure continued validity of the new vehiclewarranty and safe operation of the vehicle, non scheduled maintenance/running repairs should be undertaken at the earliest available opportunity. Under severe operating conditions, more frequent maintenance is required. Detailsof the maintenance schedule for such conditions are also given in section 5. It is recommended that all maintenance operations and repairs are entrusted to a franchised Hyundai dealer to ensure that the latest repair methods, specializedtooling and genuine Hyundai parts are used to ensure the continued reliability and safety of the vehicle.

!WARNING:
o Extreme Hazard! Do not use a rearward facing child restraint on a seat protected by an airbag in front of it!
o Do not install a child restraint system in the front passengerseat position. A child restraint system mustnever be placed in the front seat. The infant or child could be se- verely injured by an airbag de-ployment in case of an accident. o Modification to SRS components
or wir-ing, including the addition of any kind of badges to the pad cover or modifications to thebody structure, can adversely affect SRS performance and lead to possible injury.
o For cleaning the horn pad, use only a soft, dry cloth or one whichhas been moistened with plainwater. Solvents or cleaners could adversely affect the airbag cover and proper deployment of thesystem.
o No objects should be placed over
or near the airbag module on thesteering wheel, because any such object could cause harm if the vehicle is in a crash severeenough to cause the airbag to inflate.
o If the airbag inflates, it must be
replaced by an authorizedHyundai dealer.
FB110C2-F SRS Care The SRS is virtually maintenance-free and so there are no parts you cansafely service by yourself. The entire SRS system must be inspected by an authorized Hyundai dealer 10 yearsafter the date that the vehicle was manufactured. Any work on the SRS system, such as removing, installing, repairing, or any work on the steering wheel must beperformed by a qualified Hyundai tech- nician. Improper handling of the SRS systemmay result in serious personal injury.

B310B01GK-EAT Odometer/Trip odometer Function of digital odometer/trip odometer pushing in the reset switch on the right side of speedometer when the ignition switch is turned "ON" will display thefollowing sequence: 1. Odometer The odometer records the total driving distance in miles, and is useful forkeeping a record for maintenance in- tervals. NOTE: Any alteration of the odometer may void your warranty coverage. 2,3 Trip odometer Records the distance of 2 trips in miles. TRIP A
: first distance you have trav-
eled from your origination point to a first destination. TRIP B : Second distance from the first
destination to the final destination. To shift from TRIP A to TRIP B, press the reset switch. When pressed for 1 second, it will reset to 0.
