SRS (Airbag) Service Reminder Indicator (SRI)
The SRS service reminder indicator (SRI) comes on and flashes for about 6 seconds after theignition key is turned to the "ON" position or afterthe engine is started, after which it will go out. This light also comes on when the SRS is not working properly. If the SRI does not come on orilluminates continuously when the ignition key isturned to "ON", or continuously remains on afterflashing for about 6 seconds when you turned theignition key to the "ON" position or started theengine, or if it comes on while driving, have theSRS inspected by an authorized Hyundai Dealer. ABS Service Reminder Indicator (SRI)(If installed)
When the key is turned to the "ON" position, the Anti-Lock Brake System will come on and thengo off in a few seconds. If the ABS SRI remainson, comes on while driving, or does not come onwhen the key is turned to the "ON" position, thisindicates that there may be a problem with theABS.If this occurs, have your vehicle checked by yourHyundai dealer as soon as possible. The normalbraking system will still be operational, but with-out the assistance of the anti-lock brake system. B260F01A-AAT
High Beam Indicator Light
The high beam indicator light comes on when-ever the headlights are switched to the highbeam or flash position.

Turn Signal Indicator Lights
The blinking green arrows on the instrumentpanel show the direction indicated by the turnsignals. If the arrow comes on but does not blink,blinks more rapidly than normal, or does notilluminate at all, a malfunction in the turn signalsystem is indicated. Your dealer should be con-sulted for repairs. B260G01A-AAT
Low Oil Pressure Warning Light
CAUTION:If the oil pressure warning light stays onwhile the engine is running, serious enginedamage may result. The oil pressure warninglight comes on whenever there is insufficientoil pressure. In normal operation, it shouldcome on when the ignition switch is turnedon, then go out when the engine is started. Ifthe oil pressure warning light stays on whilethe engine is running, there may be a seriousmalfunction.If this happens, stop the car as soon as it issafe to do so, turn off the engine and checkthe oil level. If the oil level is low, fill the engineoil to the proper level and start the engineagain. If the light stays on with the enginerunning, turn the engine off immediately. Inany instance where the oil light stays onwhen the engine is running, the engine shouldbe checked by an authorized Hyundai dealerbefore the car is driven again.
WARNING:If the both ABS SRI and Parking Brake/Brakefluid level warning lights remain "ON" orcome on while driving, there may be a prob-
lem with E.B.D (Electronic Brake Force Dis-tribution).If this occurs, avoid sudden stops and haveyour vehicle checked by your Hyundai dealeras soon as possible.

To operate the headlights, turn the barrel on the end of the multi-function switch. The first positionturns on the parking lights, sidelights, tail lightsand instrument panel lights. The second positionturns on the headlights. NOTE: The ignition must be in the "ON" position toturn on the headlights. Parking light auto cut (If installed) If you do not turn the parking lights "OFF" after driving, the parking lights will automatically shut"OFF" when the driver's door is opened.To turn them "ON" again, you must simply turnthe ignition key to the "ON" position.
Instantaneous Fuel Consumption gauge It shows instantaneous fuel consumption ac- cording to the driving condition. The more indi-cated figure is low, the more it indicates efficientdriving situation. Volt gauge It shows moment volt change and makes for diver correspond to low volt situation.

To indicate a lane change, move the lever up or down to a point where it begins flashing.

B340A01A-AAT COMBINATION TURN SIGNAL, HEADLIGHT AND HIGH-BEAMSWITCH Turn Signal Operation Pulling down on the lever causes the turn signals on the left side of the car to blink. Pushingupwards on the lever causes the turn signals onthe right side of the car to blink. As the turn iscompleted, the lever will automatically return tothe center position and turn off the turn signals atthe same time. If either turn signal indicator lightblinks more rapidly than usual, goes on but doesnot blink, or does not go on at all, there is amalfunction in the system. Check for a burned-out fuse or bulb or see your Hyundai dealer.
The lever will automatically return to the center position when released.

B340D01A-AAT High-beam Switch To turn on the headlight high beams, push the lever forward (away from you). The high beamindicator light will come on at the same time. Forlow beams, pull the lever back toward you.

The windshield wiper switch has three positions:
(1) Intermittent wiper operation
(2) Low-speed operation
(3) High-speed operation NOTE: To prevent damage to the wiper system, donot attempt to wipe away heavy accumula-tions of snow or ice. Accumulated snow andice should be removed manually. If there isonly a light layer of snow or ice, operate theheater in the defrost mode to melt the snow orice before using the wiper.
B340F01A-GAT Daytime Running Lights (If Installed) Your Hyundai is equipped with daytime running lights. The daytime running lights are used toimprove visibility for oncoming traffic. Your ve-hicle daytime running lights are designed toremain on continuously when the engine is oper-ating even though the headlight switch is in the"OFF" position. However, the daytime running
lights will be off while the parking brake is applied.
To operate the automatic light feature, turn thebarrel on the end of the multi-function switch. Ifyou set the multi-function switch to "AUTO", thetail lights and headlights will be turned automati-cally on or off according to external illumination.

Always keep theheadlight beam at the proper leveling position, orheadlights may dazzle other road users.Listed below are the examples of proper switchsettings. For loading conditions other than thoselisted below, adjust the switch position so that thebeam level may be the nearest as the conditionobtained according to the list.

Low tire inflation pressures will result inoverheating and possible failure of the tires.Avoid using worn or damaged tires which mayresult in reduced traction or tire failure. NOTE: Never exceed the maximum tire inflation pres-sure shown on the tires. 2. Fuel, engine coolant and engine oil: High speed travel consumes more fuel thanurban motoring. Do not forget to check bothengine coolant and engine oil. 3. Drive belt: A loose or damaged drive belt may result inoverheating of the engine. C160I01A-AAT Don't Let Your Parking Brake FreezeUnder some conditions your parking brake can freeze in the engaged position. This is most likelyto happen when there is an accumulation of snowor ice around or near the rear brakes or if thebrakes are wet. If there is a risk the parking brakemay freeze, apply it only temporarily while youput the gear selector lever in "P" (automatic) or infirst or reverse gear (manual transaxle) andblock the rear wheels so the car cannot roll. REPLACING LIGHT BULBS
Before attempting to replace a headlight bulb, be sure the switch is turned to the "OFF"position. The next paragraph shows how to reach head- light bulbs so they may be changed. Be sure toreplace the burned-out bulb with one of thesame number and wattage rating. POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL
The power steering fluid level should be checked
regularly.
To check the power steering fluid level, be sure
the ignition is "OFF", then check to make cer-tain that the power steering fluid level is be-tween the "MAX" and "MIN" level markings onthe fluid reservoir.
NOTE: Grinding noise from the power steering
pump may be heard immediately after the engine is started in extremely cold condi-tions (below - 20°F). If the noise stops dur-

automatically whenever the air conditioning is in operation. ing warm up, there is no abnormal functionin the system. It is due to a power steeringfluid characteristic in extremely cold condi-tions. Recommended Fluid Use PSF-3 type fluid NOTE: Do not start the engine when the power steering oil reservoir is empty.

3. Disconnect the power cord from the bulb
base in the back of the headlight.
4. Remove the dust cover.
5. Push the bulb spring for removing the head- light bulb.
6. Remove the protective cap from the re- placement bulb and install the new bulb by matching the plastic base with the headlighthole. Install the dust cover after retighteningthe bulb spring and reconnect the powercord.
7. Use the protective cap and carton to dis- pose of the old bulb.
8. Check for proper headlight aim.
WARNING: The halogen bulb contains gas under pres-
sure and if impacted could shatter, resulting in flying fragments. Always wear eye pro-tection when servicing the bulb. Protect thebulb against abrasions or scratches andagainst liquids when lighted. Turn the bulbon only when installed in a headlight. Re-place the headlight if damaged or cracked.Keep the bulb out of the reach of childrenand dispose of the used bulb with care.
Before performing aiming adjustment, make sure

Horizontal aiming1. Keep all tires inflated to the correct pres-
sure.
2. Place the vehicle on level ground and press the front bumper & rear bumper down sev- eral times. Place vehicle at a distance of 3m(118 in.) from the test wall.
3. See that the vehicle is unloaded (except for full levels of coolant, engine oil and fuel, andspare tire, jack, and tools).
4. Clean the head light lenses and turn on the headlights.
5. Open the hood.
6. Draw the vertical line (through the center of each headlight beam pattern) and the hori-zontal line (through the center of each head-light beam pattern) on the aiming screen. And then, draw a parallel line at 30 mm (1.18 in.) under the horizontal line.
7. Adjust each cut-off line of the low beam to the parallel line with a phillips screwdriver -VERTICAL AIMING.
8. Adjust each cut-off line of the low beam to each vertical line with a phillips screwdriver- HORIZONTAL AIMING.

headlight assembly has been replaced, the headlight aiming should be checked using anaiming screen as shown in the illustration. Turnon the headlight switch.
1. Adjust headlights so that main axis of light is parallel to center line of the body and isaligned with point "P" shown in the illustra-tion.
