FILLING THE WASHER RESERVOIR The washer fluid reservoir supplies fluid to the windshield washer system. A good quality washer fluid should be used to fill the washer reservoir. The fluid level should bechecked more frequently during inclementweather or whenever the washer system is inmore frequent use. The capacity of the washer reservoir is 3.0 liters (3.2 U.S. quarts). CAUTION:
o Radiator antifreeze (engine coolant) should not be used in the washer system because it will damage the car's finish.
o The washer should not be operated if the washer reservoir is empty. This can dam-age the washer fluid pump.
HGK217
G080A02A-AAT WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADES The wiper blades should be carefully inspected from time to time and cleaned to remove accu-mulations of road film or other debris. To cleanthe wiper blades and arms, use a clean spongeor cloth with a mild soap or detergent and water. If the wipers continue to streak or smear theglass, replace them with Genuine HyundaiReplacement Parts or their equivalent. CAUTION:
o Do not operate the wipers on dry glass.
This can result in more rapid wear of the wiper blades and may scratch the glass.
o Keep the blade rubber out of contact with petroleum products such as engineoil, gasoline etc.HEF119
Transaxle lubricant in the manual transaxle should
be checked at those intervals specified in the vehicle maintenance schedule in Section 5. Recommended Oil
Use only HYUNDAI GENUINE PARTS MTF

NOTE: Do not operate the washer continu- ously for more than 15 seconds or when the fluid reservoir is empty;this could damage the system. Do not operate the wiper when the win- dow is dry; this can result in scratch-ing as well as premature wiper blade wear. For the reason stated above,do notoperate the washer when the washer fluid reservoir is empty.

In addition, anti-freeze solution must ALWAYS be used in vehicles fittedwith air conditioning, to prevent the heater matrix from freezing and sub- sequently bursting with the refrigera-tion system in use. ZC170D1-E Door Locks Should the door lock mechanism be- come frozen, a proprietary lock de-icer should be used. Alternatively, warm- ing the door key may thaw the doorlock. However, the key should be handled carefully to avoid burning the fingers.Never attempt to thaw a frozen door lock using hot water, since the water will eventually freeze and compoundthe problem. NOTE: The proper temperature for using the immobilizer key is from -40°F (- 40°C) to 176°F (80°C). If you heat the immobilizer key over 176°F (80°C)to open the frozen lock, it may cause damage to the transponder in its head. SC170E1-E Windscreen Washers and Wip- ers The windscreen washer bottle should be filled with a solution of water and a proprietary winter screen wash addi-tive. The windscreen wipers should not be used if the blades are frozen to the windscreen or if they are coveredwith snow, before this is removed. NOTE: Never allow undiluted screen washer fluid additive to spill upon the paintwork or use engine cool- ant anti-freeze since damage to thepaintwork may result.
o When driving in extreme conditions,
the windscreen wiper blades may fail to clear the screen properly due to the formation of ice upon theblade edge. It will therefore be nec- essary to periodically remove such ice to restore their efficiency.
o If the power operated door mirrors become frozen, attempts to adjustthese may damage the mechanism. o The formation of snow or ice built up
inside the wheel arches may inter-fere with the road wheels or steering mechanism. In such instances, un- usual noises or an increase in steer-ing effort may result. Therefore, ensure that the wheel arches are checked periodically and any accu-mulated snow or ice removed.
o It is advisable to carry emergency
equipment including, torch, shovel, tow rope, blankets etc., if a journey is to be undertaken into areas of severe road conditions.

5ENGINE OIL
SG030A1-E The correct engine oil level is of para-
mount importance. An excessively high or low oil level may result inirreparable damage being sustained by the engine. The engine oil level must be checked on a daily basis orwhenever the vehicle is refuelled, whichever occurs sooner.
In addition, it is imperative that only
an approved grade and specificationof oil is used to avoid the possibility of serious engine damage and prema-ture wear. The use of "budget price" oil is a false economy that must be avoided if the maximum reliability anduseful life is to be obtained from the vehicle.
SG020B1-E The following items should be checked on a daily basis or whenever the vehicle is refuelled, whichever occurssooner.
o Engine oil level.
o Engine coolant level.
o Power steering fluid level.
o Brake fluid level.
o Windscreen washer fluid level.
o Battery condition.
o Tyre condition and pressures.
o Operation and cleanliness of all lighting equip-ment.
o Windscreen wiper and washer op-
eration.
o Horn operation.
o Warning lamp operation.
o Adjustment and cleanliness of mir- rors.
o Seat and seat belt adjustment and operation.
o Fluid leakage.
The vehicle must not be driven if the daily operating checks indicate that any item of equipment related to the safety or roadworthiness of the ve-hicle is not functioning correctly. DAILY OPERATING CHECKS
G030B02O-EAT Recommended Oil
1. Petrol Engine The engine oil quality should meet the following classification. API SJ, SL or ABOVE, ILSAC GF-3 or ABOVE The oil viscosity should be selected according to the operating environ- ment of the engine by means of thetable shown above. The engine oil recommendations are complete in themselves and the use of additivesis neither required nor recommended. The use of engine oil additives may result in invalidation of the vehiclewarranty.

The wiper blades should be carefully inspected from time to time and cleaned to remove accumulations ofroad film or other debris. To clean the wiper blades and arms, use a clean sponge or cloth with a mild soap ordetergent and water. o Do not operate the wipers on dry glass since rapid wear anddamage to the windscreen glassmay result.
o Keep the blade rubber out of contact with petroleum products such as engine oil, petrol etc.
