SG020B1-E The following items should be checked on a daily basis or whenever the vehicle is refuelled, whichever occurssooner.
o Engine oil level.
o Engine coolant level.
o Power steering fluid level.
o Brake fluid level.
o Windscreen washer fluid level.
o Battery condition.
o Tyre condition and pressures.
o Operation and cleanliness of all lighting equipment.
o Windscreen wiper and washer op-
eration.
o Horn operation.
o Warning lamp operation.
o Adjustment and cleanliness of mir- rors.
o Seat and seat belt adjustment and operation.
o Fluid leakage.
The vehicle must not be driven if the daily operating checks indicate that any item of equipment related to the safety or roadworthiness of the ve-hicle is not functioning correctly. DAILY OPERATING CHECKS

This section gives instructions only for the maintenanceitems that are easy to perform.Several procedures should be done byHyundai authorised repairer. NOTE: Improper owner maintenance dur- ing the warranty period may affectwarranty coverage.
WARNING:
o Performing maintenance work on a vehicle can be dangerous. You can be seriously injured whilst performing some maintenanceprocedures. If you lack sufficient knowledge and experience or the proper tools and equipment to dothe work, have it done by Hyundai authorised repairer.
o Working under the bonnet with the engine running is dangerous. It becomes even more dangerouswhen you wear jewellery or loose clothing. These can become en- tangled in moving parts and re-sult in injury. Therefore, if you must run the engine whilst work- ing under the bonnet, make cer-tain that you remove all jewellery (especially rings, bracelets, watches, and necklaces) and allneckties, scarves, and similar loose clothing before getting near the engine or cooling fans.

o SAE 5W-20 (5W-30), ILSAC GF-3 engine oil is preferred regardless of regional option and engine variation.
o If SAE 5W-20, ILSAC GF-3 engine oil is not available, secondaryrecommended engine oil for cor- responding temperature rangecan be used.ENGINE OIL
SG030A1-E The correct engine oil level is of para- mount importance. An excessively high or low oil level may result inirreparable damage being sustained by the engine. The engine oil level must be checked on a daily basis orwhenever the vehicle is refuelled, whichever occurs sooner. In addition, it is imperative that only an approved grade and specification of oil is used to avoid the possibility of serious engine damage and prema-ture wear. The use of "budget price" oil is a false economy that must be avoided if the maximum reliability anduseful life is to be obtained from the vehicle. G030B02O-EAT
Recommended Oil
The engine oil quality should meet the
following classification.
API SJ, SL or ABOVE, ILSAC GF-3 or ABOVE The oil viscosity should be selected
according to the operating environ- ment of the engine by means of thetable shown above. The engine oil recommendations are complete in themselves and the use of additivesis neither required nor recommended. The use of engine oil additives may result in invalidation of the vehiclewarranty.

Engine Oil Level
The engine oil level should be checked with the engine at normal operatingtemperature and the vehicle parked upon level ground. Prior to checking the level, the vehicle should be allowed to stand for several minutes after the engine has been switched off to allow the oil to drainback to the sump.Withdraw the dipstick and wipe it witha clean rag. Replace the dipstick fully and withdraw again when the oil level may be read from the dipstick.

2.7LNormal oil level is indicated when the oil is present between the two markson the dipstick. It is not necessary to add oil if the level is above the lower mark and in any case, oil must not beadded to the degree that the level exceeds the upper mark. Replace the dipstick fully after checking the level.
WARNING:
Be very careful not to touch theradiator hose when checking the engine oil as it may be hot enough to burn you.HGK5005
SG030D2-E Engine Oil Replenishment If the indicated oil level is at or below the lower mark of the dipstick, oilshould be added until the level is at or below the upper mark. To add oil to the engine, remove the filler cap by rotating in an counter- clockwise direction and pour engine oil into the engine. Before checkingthe level again, allow several minutes for the oil to drain into the sump. Replace the oil filler cap rotating it ina clockwise direction until tight.The quantity of oil required to raisethe level from the minimum to maxi- mum level is approximately 1 litre. 1.6L/2.0L

o The engine oil consumption isstrongly effected by the viscosity and quality of oil, engine rpm and driving condition etc. More engine oil may be consumed under severe driving conditions such as high speeds, frequent acceleration and deceleration,compared to normal driving.

Engine oil has the primary function of
lubricating and cooling the inside of the engine. Engine oil consumption
It is normal that an engine should
consume some engine oil in the course of normal driving. The cause of oil consumption in a normal engine are asfollows;
o Engine oil is used to lubricate pis- tons, piston rings and cylinders. A thin film of oil is left on the cylinder wall when a piston moves downwards in the cylinder. High negative pressure generated dur-ing engine operation sucks some of the oil into the combustion cham- ber.This oil with some oil of the cylin-der wall is burned by the high tem-perature combustion gases during the combustion process.
!WARNING:
Be very careful not to touch the radiator hose when adding the en- gine oil as it may be hot enough to burn you.

SG080A3-EWINDSCREEN WIPER BLADES
The wiper blades should be carefully inspected from time to time and cleaned to remove accumulations ofroad film or other debris. To clean the wiper blades and arms, use a clean sponge or cloth with a mild soap ordetergent and water. If the wipers continue to streak or smear the glass, replace them with genuine Hyundaireplacement. NOTE: It is also important to ensure that the windscreen is regularly cleaned/ degreased using a proprietary glasscleaner. CAUTION:
o Do not operate the wipers on dry glass since rapid wear anddamage to the windscreen glassmay result.
o Keep the blade rubber out of contact with petroleum products such as engine oil, petrol etc.
o When the wiper blade is freezed in winter or the washer fluidreservoir is empty, the wiper may not operate for ten minutes.This isn't a mechanical troublebut the function protecting thewiper by operating circuit breaker inside of the wiper mo- tor.G080B01GK-GAT

o Windscreen washer fluid is poi- sonous to humans and animals.Do not drink windscreen washer fluid. Serious injury or death could occur.
AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUIDCHECKING THE TRANSAXLE OIL (MANUAL)

Transaxle lubricant in the manual transaxle should be checked at those intervals specified in the vehicle main-tenance schedule in Section 5.
!WARNING:
It is always better to check the
transaxle oil level when the engine is cool or cold. If the engine is hot, you should exercise great caution to avoid burning yourself on hotengine or exhaust parts.
NOTE: It is recommended that the manual
transaxle fluid should be checked by a Hyundai authorised repairer. G110A01MC-EAT The automatic transaxle fluid level should be checked and changed at those intervals prescribed in the main-tenance schedule. It is of paramount importance that only the specified fluid is used when replenishing or changingthe fluid. The use of other fluids may irreparably damage the transaxle and invalidate the manufacturers warranty.In addition the ingress of dirt or lint may prevent correct functioning of the transaxle and care must be exercisedto prevent the ingress of such matter.

Adjustment After Headlight As- sembly Replacement
If the vehicle has had front body repair and the headlight assembly has been replaced, the headlight aiming should be checked using an aiming screen asshown in the illustration. Turn on the headlight switch.
1. Adjust headlights so that main axis of light is parallel to centre line of the body and is aligned with point"P" shown in the illustration.
2. Dotted lines in the illustration show centre of headlights.
1. Keep all tyres inflated to the correct
pressure.
2. Place the vehicle on level ground and press the front bumper & rearbumper down several times. Placevehicle at a distance of 118.1 in. (3m) from the test wall.
3. See that the vehicle is unloaded (except for full levels of coolant, engine oil and fuel, and spare tyre,jack, and tools).
4. Clean the head lights lens and turn
on the headlight.
5. Open the bonnet.
6. Draw the vertical line (through the centre of each headlight beam pat- tern) and the horizontal line (through the centre of each headlight beampattern) on the aiming screen.And then, draw a parallel line at1.18 in. (30 mm) under the hori- zontal line.
7. Adjust each cut-off line of the low beam to the parallel line with aphillips screwdriver - VERTICAL AIMING.
8. Adjust each cut-off line of the low
beam to the each vertical line witha phillips screwdriver - HORIZON- TAL AIMING. L
