!WARNING:
o The purpose of the fold-down rear seat back and the fold-up rear seat cushion is to allow you tocarry more objects than could be accommodated. Do not allow pas- sengers to sit on the cargo areawhile the car is moving. This is not a proper seating position and no seat belts are available for usewhen the seat back is folded down. This could result in serious in- jury or death in case of an acci-dent or a sudden stop. Objects should not extend higher than the top of the front seatbacks.This could allow cargo to slide forward and cause injury or dam- age during sudden stops.
o WARNING LABEL: When return- ing the seat cushion to the seat-
ing position, place the seat belt
buckles on top of the cushion.
o When you return the folded down
seat back to its upright position,be sure to place the rear seat belt buckles on the seat bight between the seat cushion and seatback.
CAUTION:
After folding the rear seatback and seat cushion, the headrest can be stored in the trunk so that it will notbe thrown forward in the case of a sudden stop or an accident.
o When you return the seatback to its upright position, always be sure it is locked into position by pulling and pushing on the top of the seatback. Warning label

1. Remove the headrest.
2. Pull the strap of the seat cushion (A)
upward to fold up the seat cushion.
3. Pull the seatback locking knob (B)
on the seatback to fold-down theseatback.
4. Then, pull forward on the seatback

B150F01A-AAT One Person Per Belt Two people (including children) should never attempt to use a single seat belt.This could increase the severity of injuries in case of an accident. B150G01A-AAT Do Not Lie Down To reduce the chance of injuries in the event of an accident and to achieve maximum effectiveness of the restraint system, all passengers should be sit- ting up and the front seats should be inan upright position when the car is moving. A seat belt cannot provide proper protection if the person is lyingdown in the rear seat or if the front seat is in a reclined position.
!WARNING:
Sitting in a reclined position or ly- ing down when your vehicle is in motion can be dangerous. Even ifyou buckle up, your seat belts can't do their job when you're reclined. The shoulder belt can't do its jobbecause it won't be against your body. Instead, it will be in front of you. In a crash you could go into itwith great force, receiving serious neck or other injuries. The lap belt can't do its job either. In a crash the belt could go up over your abdomen. The belt forceswould be applied there, not at your strong pelvic bones. This could cause serious internalinjuries. For proper protection when the ve- hicle is in motion, have the seatbackupright. Then sit back in the seat and wear your seat belt properly. See page 1-23. B160B01A-AAT Periodic Inspection It is recommended that all seat belts be inspected periodically for wear ordamage of any kind. Parts of the sys- tem that are damaged should be re- placed as soon as possible.
B160A01A-AAT CARE OF SEAT BELTS Seat belt systems should never be disassembled or modified. In addition,care should be taken to assure that seat belts and belt hardware are not damaged by seat hinges, doors orother abuse.
!WARNING:
When you return the rear seatback to its upright position after being folded down, be careful not to dam- age the seat belt webbing or buckle. In addition, do not allow the seat belt webbing or buckle to get caughtor pinched in the rear seat.

To adjust the height of the seat belt anchor, lower or raise the height ad-juster into an appropriate position. To raise the height adjuster, pull it up. To lower it, push it down while pressingthe height adjuster button. Release the button to lock the anchor into position. Try sliding the heightadjuster to make sure that it has locked into position.
You can adjust the height of the shoul- der belt anchor to one of 4 positions for maximum comfort and safety. If the height of the adjusting seat belt istoo near your neck, you will not be getting the most effective protection. The shoulder portion should be ad-justed so that it lies across your chest and midway over your shoulder near- est the door and not your neck. B170A01E

WARNING:
o The height adjuster must be in the locked position when the vehicle is moving.
o The misadjustment of height of

B160D01A-AAT When to Replace Seat Belts Entire in-use seat belt assembly or assemblies should be replaced if the vehicle has been involved in an acci- dent. This should be done even if nodamage is visible. Additional ques- tions concerning seat belt operation should be directed to your HyundaiDealer. B160C01A-AAT Keep Belts Clean and Dry Seat belts should be kept clean and dry. If belts become dirty, they can becleaned by using a mild soap solution and warm water. Bleach, dye, strong detergents or abrasives should not beused because they may damage and weaken the fabric.

WARNING:
The center lap belt latching mecha- nism is different from those for therear seat shoulder belts. When fas- tening the rear seat shoulder belts or the center lap belt, make surethey are inserted into the correct buckles to obtain maximum protec- tion from the seat belt system andassure proper operation.

2. After confirming that (a) and (b) are latched, pull the seat belt out of theretractor and insert the metal tab (c)into the buckle (d).

There will be an audible "click" when the tab locks in the buckle. The seatbelt automatically adjusts to the proper length only after the lap belt is adjusted manually so that it fits snugly aroundyour hips. If you lean forward in a slow, easy motion, the belt will extend and let you move around. If there is asudden stop or impact, the belt will lock into position. It will also lock if you try to lean forward too quickly.

B230A03A-GAT (If installed) Children riding in the car should sit in the rear seat and must always beproperly restrained to minimize the risk of injury in an accident, sudden stop or sudden maneuver. Accordingto accident statistics, children are safer when properly restrained in the rear seats than in the front seat. Largerchildren not in a child restraint should use one of the seat belts provided. You are required by law to use safetyrestraints for children. If small children ride in your vehicle you must put them in a child restraint system (safety seat).Children could be injured or killed in a crash if their restraints are not properly secured. For small children and ba-bies, a child seat or infant seat must be used. Before buying a particular child restraint system, make sure it fits yourcar and seat belts, and fits your child. Follow all the instructions provided by the manufacturer when installing thechild restraint system.

the rear seat may cause dam-age to the rear seat center belt.
o Lock the metal tab (a) and the buckle (b) immediately after fold-ing rear seatbacks up.
o To disconnect the metal tab (a) from the buckle (b), insert a sharp-ended tool into the groove lo-cated on the buckle (b). (4 DOOR only)

o A child restraint system must be placed in the rear seat. Never install a child or infant seat on the front passenger's seat.Should an accident occur and cause the passenger's side airbag to deploy, it could severely in-jure or kill an infant or child seated in an infant or child seat. Thus, only use a child restraint in therear seat of your vehicle.
o Since a safety belt or child re-
straint system can become very hot if it is left in a closed vehicle, be sure to check the seat coverand buckles before placing a child there.
o When the child restraint system is not in use, store it in the trunkor fasten it with a safety belt so that it will not be thrown forwardin the case of a sudden stop or an accident.
o Children who are too large to be
in a child restraint should sit in the rear seat and be restrained with the available lap/shoulderbelts. Never allow children to ride in the front passenger seat.
o Always make sure that the shoul-
der belt portion of the outboardlap/shoulder belt is positioned midway over the shoulder, neveracross the neck or behind the back. Moving the child closer to the center of the vehicle may help provide a good shoulder belt fit. The lap belt portion of the lap/shoulder belt or the center seat lap belt must always be posi- tioned as low as possible on thechild's hips and as snug as pos- sible.
o If the seat belt will not properly fit
the child, Hyundai recommendsthe use of an approved booster seat in the rear seat in order toraise the child's seating height so that the seat belt will properly fit the child.o Never allow a child to stand up orkneel on the seat.
o Never use an infant carrier or
child safety seat that "hooks" over a seatback; it may not pro- vide adequate security in an ac-cident.
o Never allow a child to be held in
a person's arms while they are ina moving vehicle, as this could result in serious injury to the child in the event of an accidentor a sudden stop. Holding a child in a moving vehicle does not provide the child with any means of protection during an accident, even if the person holding thechild is wearing a seat belt.
o If the child restaint seat is not
anchored properly, the risk of achild being seriously injured or killed in a collision greatly in- creases.

If you need to tighten the belt, pull more webbing toward the retractor.When you unbuckle the seat belt and allow it to retract, the retractor will automatically revert back to its normalseated passenger emergency locking usage condition. NOTE:
o Before installing the child re-
straint system, read the instruc- tions supplied by the child re- straint system manufacturer.
o If the seat belt does not operate as described, have the systemchecked immediately by yourauthorized Hyundai dealer.
WARNING:

1. To engage the child restraint seat to the ISOFIX anchor, insert the child restraint seat latch into the ISOFIX anchor. Listen for the audible "click"sound.
!WARNING:
o Do not install a child restraint seat at the center of the rear seat using the vehicle's ISOFIX anchors. The ISOFIX anchors are only provided for the left and right outboard rear seating positions. Do not misusethe ISOFIX anchors by attempting to attach a child restraint seat in the middle of the rear seat to theISOFIX anchors. In a crash, the child restraint seat ISOFIX attach- ments may not be strong enoughto secure the child restraint seat properly in the center of the rear seat and may break, causing seri-ous injury or death.
o When using the vehicle’s “ISOFIX”

The seat belt pre-tensioner system consists mainly of the following com- ponents. Their locations are shown in the illus- tration.

NOTE:
o Both the driver's and front passenger's pre-tensioner seat belts will be activated in certainfrontal collisions. The pre- tensioner seat belts can be acti- vated alone or, where the frontalcollision is severe enough, to- gether with the airbags. The pre- tensioners will be activated un-der these conditions even if the seat belts are not being worn at the time of the collision. WARNING:
To obtain maximum benefit from apre-tensioner seat belt:
1. The seat belt must be worn cor- rectly.
2. The seat belt must be adjusted to
the correct position. o When the pre-tensioner seat belts
are activated, a loud noise may be heard and fine dust, which may appear to be smoke, may be visible in the passenger compart-ment. These are normal operat- ing conditions and are not haz- ardous.
o Although it is harmless, the fine dust may cause skin irritationand should not be breathed forprolonged periods. Wash your hands and face thoroughly after an accident in which the pre-tensioner seat belts were acti- vated.
