SRS warning light
The SRS (Supplement Restraint System)
air bag warning light on the instrument
panel displays the air bag symbol depicted
in the illustration. The system checks the
air bag electrical system for malfunctions. The light indicates that there is a potential
problem with your air bag system. During a moderate to severe frontal colli-
sion, sensors will detect the vehicle’s
rapid deceleration. If the rate of deceler-ation is high enough, the control unit will
inflate the front air bags.
The front air bags help protect the driver
and front passenger by responding tofrontal impacts in which seat belts alone
cannot provide adequate restraint. When
needed, the side air bags help provide
protection in the event of a side impact or
rollover by supporting the side upperbody area.
Air bags are activated (able to inflate if
necessary) only when the ignition
switch is in the ON position.
Air bags inflate in the event of a severe frontal or side collision to help protect
the occupants from serious physical
injury.
There is no single speed at which the air bags will inflate. Generally, air bagsare designed to inflate based upon the
severity of a collision and its direction.
These two factors determine whetherthe sensors produce an electronic
deployment/inflation signal.
WARNING
If your SRS malfunctions, the air bag
may not inflate properly during anaccident increasing the risk of seri-
ous injury or death.
If any of the following conditions
occur, your SRS is malfunctioning:
The light does not turn on for approximately six seconds when
the ignition switch is placed inthe ON position.
The light stays on after illuminat- ing for approximately six sec-onds.
The light comes on while the vehicle is in motion.
(Continued)
(Continued)
The light blinks when the engineis running.
We recommend that an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer inspect the SRS as
soon as possible if any of these
conditions occur.

This system is designed to provide pro-
tection from unauthorized entry into the
car. This system is operated in three
stages: the first is the "Armed" stage, the
second is the "Theft-alarm" stage, and the
third is the "Disarmed" stage. If triggered,
the system provides an audible alarm with
the hazard warning light blinking. Armed stage
The Theft Alarm System automatically
sets 30 seconds after you lock the doors
and the tailgate/trunk. For the system to
activate, you must lock the doors and the
tailgate/trunk from outside the vehicle
with the remote key or smart key or by
pressing the button on the outside of the
door handles with the smart key in yourpossession.
The hazard warning lights will blink and the chime will sound once to indicate the
system is armed.
Once the security system is set, opening
any door, the tailgate/trunk, or the hood
without using the remote key or smart
key will cause the alarm to activate.
The theft alarm system will not set if the
hood, the tailgate/trunk, or any door is
not fully closed. If the system will not set,
check the hood, the tailgate/trunk, or thedoors are fully closed.Do not arm the system until all pas-
sengers have left the vehicle. If the
system is armed while a passenger(s)
remains in the vehicle, the alarm may
be activated when the remaining pas-
senger(s) leave the vehicle. If anydoor (or tailgate/trunk) or engine hoodis opened within 30 seconds after the
system enters the armed stage, the
system is disarmed to prevent unnec-
essary alarm.

Use only approved portable plas-
tic fuel containers designed to
carry and store gasoline.
Do not use cellular phones while refueling. Electric current and/or
electronic interference from cel-
lular phones can potentially
ignite fuel vapors causing a fire.
When refueling, always shut the engine off. Sparks produced byelectrical components related to
the engine can ignite fuel vapors
causing a fire. Once refueling is
complete, check to make sure thefiller cap and filler door are
securely closed, before starting
the engine.
DO NOT use matches or a lighter and DO NOT SMOKE or leave a lit
cigarette in your vehicle while at
a gas station especially during
refueling. Automotive fuel is
highly flammable and can, when
ignited, result in fire.
(Continued)(Continued)
If a fire breaks out during refuel-ing, leave the vicinity of the vehi-
cle, and immediately contact the
manager of the gas station and
then contact the local fire depart-
ment. Follow any safety instruc-
tions they provide.CAUTION
Make sure to refuel with unleaded
(or leaded for some countries)
fuel only. (Gasoline engine only)
If the fuel filler cap requires replacement, we recommend thatyou use parts for replacement
from an authorized HYUNDAI dealer. An incorrect fuel filler capcan result in a serious malfunc- tion of the fuel system or emis-
sion control system.
Do not spill fuel on the exterior surfaces of the vehicle. Any typeof fuel spilled on painted surfaces may damage the paint.
After refueling, make sure the fuel cap is installed securely to pre-vent fuel spillage in the event of an accident.

Electric power steering (EPS) (if equipped)
Power steering uses the motor to assist
you in steering the vehicle. If the engine
is off or if the power steering system
becomes inoperative, the vehicle may
still be steered, but it will require
increased steering effort.
Should you notice any change in the
effort required to steer during normal
vehicle operation, we recommend that
the system be checked by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.✽✽NOTICE
The following symptoms may occur dur-
ing normal vehicle operation:
The EPS warning light does not illu- minate.
The steering effort is high immediate- ly after turning the ignition switch on.
This happens as the system performs
the EPS system diagnostics. When the
diagnostics is completed, the steering
wheel will return to its normal condi-
tion.
A click noise may be heard from the
EPS relay after the ignition switch is
turned to the ON or LOCK/OFF posi-
tion.
Motor noise may be heard when the
vehicle is at a stop or at a low driving
speed.
The steering effort can suddenly increase, if the operation of the EPS
system is stopped to prevent serious
accidents when it detects malfunction
of the EPS system by self-diagnosis.
The steering effort increases if the
steering wheel is rotated continuously
when the vehicle is not in motion.
However, after a few minutes, it will
return to its normal conditions.Tilt steering (if equipped)
To change the steering wheel angle, pull
down the lock release lever (1), adjust
the steering wheel to the desired angle
(2), then pull up the lock-release lever to
lock the steering wheel in place. Be sure
to adjust the steering wheel to the
desired position before driving.
