The automatic reverse feature is only
active when the “auto up” feature is
used by fully pulling up the switch to
the second detent.Do not install any accessories on the
windows. The automatic reverse fea-
ture may not operate.
Power window lock switch
(if equipped)The driver can disable the power
window switches on the rear passen-
gers' doors by pressing the power
window lock switch.
When the power window lock switch
is pressed:
• The driver's master control can
operate all the power windows.
• The front passenger's control can operate the front passenger's
power window.
• The rear passenger's control can- not operate the rear passengers'
power window.
• To prevent possible damage to thepower window system, do not
open or close two windows or
more at the same time. This will
also ensure the longevity of the
fuse.
• Never try to operate the main switch on the driver's door and the
individual door window switch in
opposite directions at the same
time. If this is done, the window will
stop and cannot be opened or
closed.

Make sure heads, other body
parts or other objects are safely
out of the way before closing the
windows to avoid injuries or vehi-
cle damage. Objects less than 4
mm (0.16 in.) in diameter caught
between the window glass and the
upper window channel may not be
detected by the automatic reverse
window and the window will not
stop and reverse direction.

rearview mirror to the center on the
view through the rear window.
Day/night rearview mirror Make this adjustment before you
start driving and while the day/night
lever is in the day position.
Pull the day/night lever toward you to
reduce glare from the headlights of
the vehicles behind you during night
driving.Remember that you lose some
rearview clarity in the night position.

Make sure your line of sight is not
obstructed. Do not place objects in
the rear seat, cargo area, or behind
the rear headrests which could
interfere with your vision through the
rear window.
WARNING
To prevent serious injury during
an accident or deployment of the
air bag, do not modify the rearview
mirror and do not install a wide
mirror.
WARNING
NEVER adjust the mirror while
driving. This may cause loss of
vehicle control resulting in an acci-
dent.

tors bonded to the inside surface of
the rear window, never use sharp
instruments or window cleaners con-
taining abrasives to clean the win-
dow.
If you want to defrost and defog the
front windshield, refer to “Windshield
defrosting and defogging” in this sec-
tion.
Rear window defroster (if equipped)The defroster heats the window to
remove frost, fog and thin ice from
the interior and exterior of the rear
window, while engine is running. To activate the rear window
defroster, press the rear window
defroster button located in the cli-
mate control system. The indicator
on the rear window defroster button
illuminates when the defroster is ON.
To turn off the defroster, press the
rear window defroster button again.
Information
If there is heavy accumulation of
snow on the rear window, brush it
off before operating the rear
defroster.
The rear window defroster automat- ically turns off after approximately
20 minutes or when the ignition
switch is turned off. Outside rearview mirror defroster
(if equipped)If your vehicle is equipped with out-
side rearview mirror defrosters, they
will operate at the same time you
turn on the rear window defroster.i

We recommend the air conditioning
system be serviced by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
WWindshield defrosting and defog-
ging
• For maximum defrosting, set the
temperature control to the extreme
right/hot position and the fan speed
control to the highest speed.
• If warm air to the floor is desired while defrosting or defogging, set
the mode to the floor-defrost posi-
tion.
• Before driving, clear all snow and ice from the windshield, rear win-
dow, outside rear view mirrors, and
all side windows.
• Clear all snow and ice from the hood and air inlet at the buttom of
the windshield.
• If the engine temperature is still cold after starting, then a brief
engine warm up period may be
required for the vented air flow to
become warm or hot.
Because the refrigerant
is at very high pressure,
the air conditioning sys-
tem should only be serv-
iced by trained and certi-
fied technicians. It is important that
the correct type and amount of oil
and refrigerant is used, otherwise
damage to the vehicle and personal
injury may occur.WARNING
Do not use the or position
during cooling operation in
extremely humid weather. The dif-
ference between the temperature
of the outside air and that of the
windshield could cause the outer
surface of the windshield to fog
up, causing loss of visibility. Set
the mode selection to the
position and fan speed control to a
lower speed.

Before entering the vehicle
• Be sure all windows\b outside mirror(s)\b and outside lights are clean
and unobstructed.
• Remove frost\b snow\b or ice.
• Visually check the tires for uneven wear and damage.
• Check under the vehicle for any sign of leaks.
• Be sure there are no obstacles behind you if you intend to back up.
Before starting
• Make sure the hood\b the tailgate\band the doors are securely closed
and locked.
• Adjust the position of the seat and steering wheel.
• Adjust the inside and outside rearview mirrors.
• Verify all the lights work.
• Fasten your seatbelt. Check that all passengers have fastened their
seatbelts. • Check the gauges and indicators in
the instrument panel and the mes
sages on the instrument display
when the ignition switch is in the
ON position.
• Check that any items you are car rying are stored properly or fas
tened down securely.

To keep locks from freezing
To keep the locks from freezing\b
squirt an approved deicer fluid or
glycerine into the key opening. If a
lock is covered with ice\b squirt it with
an approved deicing fluid to remove
the ice. If the lock is frozen internally\b
you may be able to thaw it out by
using a heated key. Handle the heat
ed key with care to avoid injury.
Use approved window washerantifreeze in system
To keep the water in the window
washer system from freezing\b add an
approved window washer antifreeze
solution in accordance with instruc
tions on the container. Window wash
er antifreeze is available from an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer and
most auto parts outlets. Do not use
engine coolant or other types of anti
freeze as these may damage the
paint finish.
Don't let your parking brake freeze
Under some conditions your parking
brake can freeze in the engaged
position. This is most likely to hap
pen when there is an accumulation
of snow or ice around or near the
rear brakes or if the brakes are wet.
If there is a risk the parking brake
may freeze\b apply it only temporarily
while you put the shift lever in P (for
Automatic Transaxle/Continuously
Variable Transaxle) or in first or
reverse gear (for Manual Transaxle)
and block the rear wheels so the
vehicle cannot roll. Then release the
parking brake.
Don't let ice and snow accumulate underneath
Under some conditions\b snow and
ice can build up under the fenders
and interfere with the steering. When
driving in severe winter conditions
where this may happen\b you should
periodically check underneath the
car to be sure the movement of the
front wheels and the steering com
ponents is not obstructed.
Carry emergency equipment
Depending on the severity of the
weather\b you should carry appropri
ate emergency equipment. Some of
the items you may want to carry
include tire chains\b tow straps or
chains\b flashlight\b emergency flares\b
sand\b shovel\b jumper cables\b window
scraper\b gloves\b ground cloth\b cover
alls\b blanket\b etc.
Don't place foreign objects or materials in the engine compartment
Placement of foreign objects or
materials which prevent cooling of
the engine\b in the engine compart
ment\b may cause a failure or com
bustion. The manufacturer is not
responsible for the damage caused
by such placement.

FFront windshield wiper blade1. Raise the wiper arm and turn the
wiper blade assembly to expose
the plastic locking clip.Do not allow the wiper arm to fall
against the windshield, since it may
chip or crack the windshield.
2. Compress the clip and slide the blade assembly downward.
3. Lift it off the arm.
4. Install the blade assembly in the reverse order of removal.
Rear window wiper blade (if equipped)1.Raise the wiper arm and rotate the
wiper blade assembly (1).

• Caring for the leather seats - Vacuum the seat periodically to
remove dust and sand on the seat.
It will prevent abrasion or damage
of the leather and maintain its qual-
ity.
- Wipe the natural leather seat cover often with dry or soft cloth.
- Use of proper leather protective may prevent abrasion of the cover
and helps maintain the color. Be
sure to read the instructions and
consult a specialist when using
leather coating or protective agent.
- Light colored (beige, cream beige) leather is easily contaminated and
the stain is noticeable. Clean the
seats frequently.
- Avoid wiping with wet cloth. It may cause the surface to crack. • Cleaning the leather seats
- Remove all contaminations instant-ly. Refer to instructions below for
removal of each contaminant.
- Cosmetic products (sunscreen, foundation, etc.)
Apply cleansing cream on a cloth
and wipe the contaminate spot.
Wipe off the cream with a wet cloth
and remove water with a dry cloth.
- Beverages (coffee, soft drink, etc.) Apply a small amount of neutral
detergent and wipe until contami-
nations do not smear.
- Oil Remove oil instantly with
absorbable cloth and wipe withstain remover used only for natu-
ral leather.
- Chewing gum Harden the gum with ice andremove gradually.
CC leaning the lap/shoulder belt
webbing Clean the belt webbing with any mild
soap solution recommended for
cleaning upholstery or carpet. Follow
the instructions provided with the
soap. Do not bleach or re-dye the
webbing because this may weaken it. Cleaning the interior window glass If the interior glass surfaces of the
vehicle become fogged (that is, cov-
ered with an oily, greasy or waxy
film), they should be cleaned with
glass cleaner. Follow the directions
on the glass cleaner container. Do not scrape or scratch the inside
of the rear window. This may result
in damage to the rear window
