This system helps to protect your
vehicle and valuables. The horn will
sound and the hazard warning lights
will blink continuously if any of the
following occur:
- A door is opened without using the
smart key.
- The liftgate is opened without
using the smart key.
- The hood is opened.
The alarm continues for 30 seconds
(repeats 2 times unless the system is
disarmed), then the system resets.
To turn off the alarm, unlock the
doors with the smart key.
The Theft Alarm System automati-
cally sets 30 seconds after you lock
the doors and the liftgate. For the
system to activate, you must lock the
doors and the liftgate from outside
the vehicle with the smart key or by
pressing the button on the outside of
the door handle with the smart key in
your possession.
The hazard warning lights will blink
and the chime will sound once to
indicate the system is armed.Once the security system is set,
opening any door, the liftgate, or the
hood without using the smart key will
cause the alarm to activate.
The Theft Alarm System will not set if
the hood, the liftgate, or any door is
not fully closed. If the alarm system
will not set, check to see that the
hood, the liftgate and the doors are
all fully closed.
Do not attempt to alter this system or
add other devices to it.Information
• Do not lock the doors until all pas-
sengers have left the vehicle. If the
remaining passenger leaves the
vehicle when the system is armed,
the alarm will be activated.
• If the vehicle is not disarmed with
the smart key, open the doors by
using the mechanical key and start
the vehicle ( indicator ON) by
directly pressing the POWER but-
ton with the smart key.
• If the system is disarmed by unlock-
ing the vehicle, but neither a door or
the liftgate is opened within 30 sec-
onds, the doors will relock and the
system will rearm automatically.

Interior Lights
Do not use the interior lights for
extended periods when the vehi-
cle is turned off or the battery will
discharge.
Interior lamp AUTO cut
The interior lamps will automatically
go off approximately 20 minutes after
the vehicle is turned off and the
doors closed. If a door is opened, the
lamp will go off 40 minutes after the
vehicle is turned off. If the doors are
locked by the smart key and the vehi-
cle enters the armed stage of the
theft alarm system, the lamps will go
off five seconds later.
Front lamps
Front Map Lamp (1) :
Press either of these lenses to turn
the map lamp on or off. This light produces a spot beam for
convenient use as a map lamp at
night or as a personal lamp for the
driver and the front passenger.
Front Door Lamp (2) ( ) :
The front or rear room lamps come
on when the front or rear doors are
opened. When doors are unlocked by
the smart key, the front and rear
lamps come on for approximately 30
seconds as long as any door is not
opened. The front and rear room
lamps go out gradually after approxi-
mately 30 seconds if the door is
closed. However, if the POWER but-
ton is in the ON position or all doors
are locked, the front and rear lamps
will turn off. If a door is opened with
the POWER button in the ACC posi-
tion or the OFF position, the front
and rear lamps stay on for about 20
minutes.
NOTICE
Do not use the interior lights
when driving in the dark. The
interior lights may obscure your
view and cause an accident.

- Early:
When this condition is selected, the
initial Forward Collision Warning is
activated earlier than normal. This
setting maximizes the amount of
distance between the vehicle
ahead before the initial warning
occurs.
Even though, 'Early' is selected if
the front vehicle suddenly stops the
initial warning activation time may
not seem fast.
If you feel the warning activates too
early, set Forward Collision
Warning to "Normal".Prerequisite for activation
FCA system is on and ready when
FCA is selected on the LCD display
and when the following prerequisites
are satisfied:
- The ESC (Electronic Stability
Control) is on.
- Driving speed exceeds approxi-
mately 6 mph (10 km/h). (FCA is
only activated within a certain
speed range.)
- The system detects a vehicle in
front, which may collide with your
vehicle. (FCA may not be activated
or may sound a warning alarm in
accordance with the driving situa-
tion or vehicle condition.)
Completely stop the vehicle
on a safe location before
operating the switch on the
steering wheel to activate/
deactivate FCA system.
FCA automatically activates
when the POWER button is in
the ON position. The driver
can deactivate FCA by cancel-
ing the system setting on the
LCD display.
If you cancel the ESC
(Electronic Stability Control)
when FCA system is turned
on FCA automatically deacti-
vates and the FCA warning
light illuminates. When the
ESC is canceled the FCA can-
not be activated on the LCD
display. The FCA warning light
will illuminate which is nor-
mal.

FCA Warning Message and
System Control
FCA produces warning messages
and warning alarms in accordance
with the collision risk levels, such as
abrupt stopping of the vehicle in
front, or insufficient braking distance
detection. Also, it controls the brakes
in accordance with the collision risk
levels.
The driver can select the initial warn-
ing activation time in the User
Settings in the LCD display. The
options for the initial Forward
Collision Warning include Late,
Normal or Early initial warning time.
Collision Warning
(First warning)
This warning message appears on
the LCD display with a warning
chime. Additionally, some vehicle
system intervention occurs to help
decelerate the vehicle.
- Your vehicle speed may deceler-
ate moderately.
- FCA system limitedly controls the
brakes to preemptively mitigate
impact in a collision.
Emergency braking
(Second warning)
This warning message appears on
the LCD display with a warning
chime.
Additionally, some vehicle system
intervention occurs to help deceler-
ate the vehicle.
- FCA system limitedly controls the
brakes to preemptively mitigate
impact in a collision. The brake
control is maximized just before a
collision.

Brake operation
The braking system enters into the
ready status to react promptly to
urgent situations.
FCA provides additional braking
power for optimum braking per-
formance, when the driver depress-
es the brake pedal.
The braking control is automatical-
ly deactivated, when the driver
sharply depresses the accelerator
pedal, or when the driver abruptly
operates the steering wheel.
FCA brake control is automatically
canceled, when risk factors disap-
pear.
The driver should always use
extreme caution while operat-
ing the vehicle, whether or not
there is a warning message or
alarm from FCA system.
If any other warning sound
such as seat belt warning
chime is already generated,
the Forward Collision-
Avoidance Assist (FCA) sys-
tem warning may not sound.
CAUTION
The braking control cannot
completely stop the vehicle nor
avoid all collisions. The driver
should hold the responsibility
to safely drive and control the
vehicle.
WARNING
FCA system logic operates
within certain parameters, such
as the distance from the vehicle
ahead, the speed of the vehicle
ahead, and the driver's vehicle
speed. Certain conditions such
as inclement weather and road
conditions may affect the oper-
ation of FCA system.
WARNING
Never deliberately drive danger-
ously to activate the system.

- Driving on a curve
The performance of Forward
Collision-Avoidance Assist system
may be limited when driving on a
curved road.
The front camera recognition system
may not detect the vehicle traveling
in front on a curved road. This may
result in no alarm and braking when
necessary.
Always pay attention to road and
driving conditions, and if necessary,
depress the brake pedal to reduce
your driving speed in order to main-
tain a safe distance.Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist
system may recognize a vehicle in
the next lane or outside the lane
when driving on a curved road.
If this occurs, the system may unnec-
essarily alarm the driver and apply
the brake.
Always pay attention to road and
driving conditions, while driving.- Driving on a slope
The performance of Forward Collision-
Avoidance Assist system may be
decreased while driving upward or
downward on a slope. The front cam-
era recognition may not detect the
vehicle in front. This may result in
unnecessary alarm and braking or no
alarm and braking when necessary.
When the system suddenly recog-
nizes the vehicle in front while pass-
ing over a slope, you may experience
sharp deceleration.
Always keep your eyes forward while
driving upward or downward on a
slope, and, if necessary, depress the
brake pedal to reduce your driving
speed in order to maintain distance.

Second stage alert
A warning chime to alert the driver will activate when:
1. A vehicle has been detected in the blind spot area by the radar system
(the warning light will illuminate on the outer side view mirror and/or the
head up display (if equipped) (i.e, in the first stage alert)) AND
2. The turn signal is applied (same side as where the vehicle is being
detected).
When this alert is activated, the warning light on the outer side view mir-
ror and/or the head up display (if equipped) will also blink.
If you turn off the turn signal indicator, the second stage alert (warning
chime and blinking warning light on the outer side view mirror) will be
deactivated.
Once the detected vehicle is no longer within the blind spot area, the warn-
ing will turn off according to the driving conditions of the vehicle.

LKA Operation
To activate/deactivate LKA:
With the POWER button in the ON
position, press the Lane Safety but-
ton located on the instrument panel
on the left hand side of the steering
wheel. The indicator in the cluster
display will initially illuminate white.
This indicates LKA is in the READY
but NOT ENABLED state.
If you press the Lane Safety button
again, the indicator on the switch and
cluster display will go off.
Always have your hands on
the steering wheel while the
LKA system is activated. If
you continue to drive with
your hands off the steering
wheel after the "Keep hands
on steering wheel" warning
message appears, the system
will turn off automatically.
After then, if you drive with
your hands on the steering
wheel, the control will be acti-
vated again.
The steering wheel is not con-
tinuously controlled so if the
vehicle speed is at a higher
speed when leaving a lane the
vehicle may not be able to be
controlled by the system. The
driver must always follow the
speed limit when using the
system.
If you attach objects to the
steering wheel, the system
may not assist steering or the
hands off alarm may not work
properly.
The system detects lane
markers and controls the
steering wheel by a camera,
therefore, if the lane markers
are hard to detect, the system
may not work properly.
Please refer to "Limitations of
the system".
Do not remove or damage the
related parts of LKA.
You may not hear a warning
sound of LKA because of
excessive audio sound.
If any other warning sound
such as seat belt warning
chime is already generated,
Lane Keeping Assist system
warning may not sound.
Do not place objects on the
dashboard that reflects light
such as mirrors, white paper,
etc. The system may malfunc-
tion if the sunlight is reflected.

Driving your vehicle
5
Driving on a steep grade, over a hill,
or when driving on a curved road.
The adverse road conditions cause
excessive vehicle vibrations while
driving.
The surrounding of the inside rear
view mirror temperature is high
due to direct sunlight, etc.
When front visibility is poor
The windshield or the camera lens
is blocked with dirt or debris.
The windshield glass is fogged up; a
clear view of the road is obstructed.
Placing objects on the dashboard,
etc.
The sensor cannot detect the lane
because of fog, heavy rain or snow.LKA Function Change
The driver can change LKA to Lane
Departure Warning from the LCD dis-
play. Go to the 'User Settings →
Driver Assistance →Lane Safety →
Lane Departure Warning/LKA/Active
LKA.
Lane Departure Warning
LDW mode alerts the driver with a
visual warning and a warning alarm
when the system detects the vehicle
departing the lane. The steering
wheel will not be controlled.
LKA
LKA mode guides the driver to help
keep the vehicle within the lanes. It
rarely controls the steering wheel,
when the vehicle drives well inside
the lanes. However, it starts to con-
trol the steering wheel, when the
vehicle is about to deviate out of the
lanes.
Active LKA
Active LKA mode provides more fre-
quent steering wheel control in com-
parison with the Standard LKA
mode. Active LKA can reduce the dri-
ver’s fatigue to assist the steering for
maintaining the vehicle in the middle
of the lane.
