o Manual transaxle oil Inspect the manual transaxle oil according to
the maintenance schedule. NOTE: If the oil level is low, check for possible
leaks before adding oil. Do not overfill.

o Rear brake drums and linings/ parking brake
Check the rear brake drums and linings for
scoring, burning, leaking fluid, broken parts, and excessive wear. Inspect the parkingbrake system including the parking brakelever and cables. For detailed service proce-dures, refer to the Shop Manual.

o Brake pads, calipers and rotors Check the pads for excessive wear, discs for
run out and wear, and calipers for fluid leak-age.

o Exhaust pipe and muffler Visually inspect the exhaust pipes, mufflerand hangers for cracks, deterioration, or dam-age. Start the engine and listen carefully forany exhaust gas leakage. Tighten connec-tions or replace parts as necessary.

o Automatic transaxle fluid The fluid level should be in the "HOT" range
of the dipstick, after engine and transaxle areat normal operating temperature. Check theAutomatic Transaxle Fluid level with the en-gine running and the transaxle in neutral, withthe parking brake properly applied. Use DIA-MOND ATF SP- III or SK ATF SP- III when

o Brake hoses and lines Visually check for proper installation, chafing, cracks, deterioration and any leakage. Replaceany deteriorated or damaged parts immediately.

o Air cleaner filter A Genuine Hyundai air cleaner filter is recom-
mended when filter is replaced.

o Spark plugs Make sure to install new spark plugs of the
correct heat range.

o Cooling system Check the cooling system part, such asradiator, coolant reservoir, hoses and con-nections for leakage and damage. Replaceany damaged parts. 6ZF070G2-A
o Brake fluid Check brake fluid level in the brake fluidreservoir. The level should be between "MIN"and "MAX" marks on the side of the reservoir.Use only hydraulic brake fluid conforming toDOT 3 or DOT 4.

o Engine coolant The coolant should be changed at theintervals specified in the maintenance sched-ule.

o Valve Clearance Inspect excessive valve noise and/or enginevibration and adjust if necessary. A qualifiedtechnician should perform the operation.

This operation should only be performed when
the engine is cold.
1. Remove the centre cover from the engine rocker cover.
2. Remove plug lead from the sparking plug to be replaced, pulling the lead by the rubber cap. (Pulling the lead may damage the car-bon conductor).SSA6061CSSA6060B
Prior to installing a sparking plug, the gap between the centre and outer electrodes mustbe checked and adjusted as necessary.Adjustment is facilitated by bending the outerelectrode towards or away from the centreelectrode. Under no circumstances should at-tempts be made to adjust the position of thecentre electrode.
4. Insert the sparking plug into the cylinder head and screw by the wrench and until theplug contacts the seating area. Tighten theplug with the socket by a further 1/2 to 3/4 ofa turn only.
3. Clean around the base of the plug to be
removed, and install the plug socket ensur-ing that the ceramic insulator does not be-come damaged. Turn the socket counter-clockwise to remove the plug.
CAUTION: Sparking plugs must only be cleaned using
purpose designed equipment. Wire brush- ing may damage the centre electrodein-sulator causing misfiring to occur. Only thecorrect grade of sparking plug should beused. Use of an incorrect grade may resultin serious engine damage.

AIR CLEANER ELEMENT REPLACEMENT ment. Replacement of the element is the reverse of the above. CAUTION: The air flow sensor is a precision engi- neered electronic measuring device andtherefore care should be exercised that theair flow sensor is not damaged during re-placement of the element. To ensure maximum filtration performance and continued engine performance, only genuineHyundai replacements should be used.

5. Replace the plug lead ensuring that the cap is pushed firmly into place. Confirm that the cap is correctly seated by lightlypulling upon it.

To replace the air cleaner element, remove the air intake ducting from the air flow sensorbody and unfasten the spring clips holding theair flow sensor top to the body. Lift out the airflow sensor followed by the air cleaner ele- The wiper blades should be carefully inspectedfrom time to time and cleaned to removeaccumulations of road film or other debris. Toclean the wiper blades and arms, use a cleansponge or cloth with a mild soap or detergent
