3. Clean around the base of the plug to be removed, and install the plug socket ensuring that the ceramic insulator does not become dam- aged. Turn the socket counterclock-wise to remove the plug.
CAUTION:
Sparking plugs must only be cleaned using purpose designed equipment. Wire brushing may dam-age the centre electrode insulator causing misfiring to occur. Only the correct grade of sparking plugshould be used. Use of an incorrect grade may result in serious engine damage.
! Prior to installing a sparking plug, the
gap between the centre and outer elec- trodes must be checked and adjustedas necessary.
Adjustment is facilitated by bending
the outer electrode towards or away from the centre electrode. Under no circumstances should attempts bemade to adjust the position of the centre electrode.
4. Insert the sparking plug into the cylinder head and using a suitable plug socket, slowly rotate the spark-ing plug, (being careful not to cross- thread) until the plug contacts the seating area. Tighten the plug with plug socket by a further 1/2 to 3/4 of a furn only.

1. Put a new wiper blade onto the
wiper arm and lower the wiper blade at the level of the wiper arm as shown in the drawing.
2. Pull up the wiper blade until you hear an audible "click" to engage in the end of the wiper arm.
NOTE: Do not allow the wiper arm to fall against the windscreen.
!
Undiluted windscreen washer addi-
tive must not be allowed to come into contact with the paintwork. If spillage occurs, flush the affected area immediately with water. Do notoperate the windscreen washer for more than 15 seconds continuously or when the reservoir is empty sincedamage to the washer pump will result.
WARNING:
o Windscreen washer fluid agents contain some amounts of alcohol and can be flammable under cer-tain circumstances. Do not allow sparks of flame to contact the washer fluid or the washer fluidreservoir. Damage to the vehicle or its occupants could occur.

CHECKING THE TRANSAXLE OIL
SG100A1-E
MANUAL TRANSAXLE LUBRI-CANT
The manual transaxle lubricant must
be checked and or changed at the intervals specified in the maintenanceschedule. Only those lubricants speci- fied should be used in order to prevent gear shifting difficulties or transaxledamage. WARNING:
The transaxle lubricant level should only be checked when the engine is cold to preclude the possibility ofpersonal injury by contact with hot components. Recommended Oil Use only HYUNDAI GENUINE PARTS
MTF 75W/85 (API GL-4) in the manual transaxle. Transaxle Lubricant Level Checking Ensure that the vehicle is parked on level ground with the parking brakefirmly applied and the engine cool. Remove the level plug from the transaxle when lubricant should beginto drip from the level hole. If the level is low and no lubricant is seen to drip, add the required quantity of lubricantand replace the plug.

AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID The automatic transaxle fluid level should be checked and changed at those intervals prescribed in the main- tenance schedule. It is of paramountimportance that only the specified fluid is used when replenishing or changing the fluid. The use of other fluids mayirreparably damage the transaxle and invalidate the manufacturers warranty. In addition the ingress of dirt or lintmay prevent correct functioning of the transaxle and care must be exercised to prevent the ingress of such matter. NOTE: Automatic transaxle fluid is a red in color. As driving distance increases, the fluid color turns darkish red gradually. It is a normal conditionand you should not judge the need to replace based upon the changing color. You must replace the automatictransaxle fluid in accordance withintervals specified in the vehicle maintenance schedule in section 5. CAUTION:
The transaxle on fluid level must be
checked with the engine running and at normal operating tempera-ture and therefore care must be ex- ercised to prevent injury occurring through contact with rotating or hotparts of the engine.

Recommended Fluid
Your Hyundai automatic transaxle is specially designed to operate with HYUNDAI GENUINE ATF SP III, DIA- MOND ATF SP-III, SK ATF SP III orother brands approved by Hundai Mo- tor Co,. Damage caused by a nonspecified fluid is not covered byyour new vehicle limited warranty. CAUTION:
Use of aftermarket ATF additives
may cause damage to the automatictransaxle. Only use HYUNDAI GENU-INE ATF SP III, DIAMOND ATF SP III, SK ATF SP III or other brands approved by Hyundai Motor Co., Ifyou are having your vehicle ser- viced at a facility other than a Hyundai authorised repairer, verifythat the correct ATF is used for your vehicle. G110C01FC-EAT
Fluid Capacity

Transaxle fluid level checking The vehicle must be parked on level ground with the parking brake firmly applied and the engine at normal oper-ating temperature. (Normal operating temperature will only be achieved when the vehicle has been driven for 6 milesor more). HFC5008
Wipe the dipstick, replace it fully and
promptly remove it again. The fluidlevel should be between the upper and lower marks. CAUTION:
The automatic transaxle unit is a precision engineered assembly andcorrect operation is dependant upon the exclusion of dirt and lint from the unit. Therefore, it is imperative that only lint free cloth (eg nylon) is used for wiping the dipstick andthat the area around the dipstick is thoroughly clean prior to level checking or adding fluid.!
C090A01FC-D With the engine idling and the footbrake
applied, the transaxle selector should be moved from the "P" position through to the "L" position and back to the "N" or "P" position.
Open the bonnet and remove the
transaxle dipstick, remembering thatcare must be exercised to preventinjury occurring through contact with hot or rotating parts of the engine.
This means that the engine, radia-tor, exhaust system etc., are very hot so you should exercise greatcare not to burn yourself during this procedure.
Fluid need only be added if the level is at or below the lower mark and mustnever be increased above the higher mark. If additional fluid is required, this should be poured into the transmissionthrough the dipstick tube with the aid of a suitable funnel.

C090A03FC
WARNING:
The cooling fan is controlled by engine coolant temperature and may sometimes operate even when the engine is not running. Use extremecaution when working near the blades of the cooling fan so that you are not injured by a rotating fanblade. As the engine coolant tem- perature decreases, the fan will au- tomatically shut off. This is a nor-mal condition. WARNING (Diesel only):
Never work on injection system with
engine running or within 30 sec- onds after shutting off engine. Highpressure pump, rail, injectors and high pressure pipes are subject to high pressure even after the enginestopped. The fuel jet produced by fuel leaks may cause serious injury, if it contacts the body.
People using pacemakers should
ensure that they keep a distance of30cm from the ECU or wiring har- ness within the engine room whilst engine is running, since the highcurrents in the Common Rail sys- tem produce considerable magnetic fields. SG120A1-E
CAUTION:
Correct operation of the braking
system is essential to the safe op-eration of the vehicle and therefore, any maintenance operations other than those listed below should beentrusted to a Hyundai authorised repairer.

Diesel engine WARNING:
Brake fluid is hygroscopic and should never be stored in an un- sealed container. The presence ofwater in the braking system will cause vapour locks and increase the possibility of brake fade alongwith promoting corrosion within the braking system. The brake fluid must be changed at the specifiedtime or mileage interval to ensure continued safe operation of the sys- tem. Brake fluid will cause rapidand serious damage to paintwork. If accidental spillage occurs, the af- fected area must be rinsed withwater immediately. Do not allow brake fluid to come into contact with the eyes or to be ingested andensure that fluid is safely stored away form the reach of children.
The fluid level in the brake fluid reser-voir should be checked periodically. The level should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the side of thereservoir. If the level is at or below the "MIN" mark, fluid should be added having carefully cleaned the area sur-rounding the reservoir cap to ensure that dirt is not allowed to enter the system. It should be noted that thebrake fluid level will decrease slightly as the friction linings of the pads and shoes become worn and that this is anormal condition.
