WINDSHIELD WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH
B350B01O-GAT Windshield Washer Operation To use the windshield washer, pull the wiper/washer lever toward the steer- ing wheel. When the washer lever isoperated, the wipers automatically make two passes across the wind- shield. The washer continues to oper-ate until the lever is released. NOTE:
o Do not operate the washer more
than 15 seconds at a time or when the fluid reservoir is empty.
o In icy or freezing weather, be
sure the wiper blades are notfrozen to the glass prior to oper- ating the wipers.
B350A01A-AAT The windshield wiper switch has three positions:

B510C01A-AAT FOLDING THE OUTSIDE REAR- VIEW MIRRORS To fold the outside rearview mirrors, push them towards the rear.The outside rearview mirrors can be folded rearward for parking in narrow areas.
WARNING:
Do not adjust or fold the outside rearview mirrors while the vehicle is moving. This could result in lossof control, and an accident causing death, serious injury or property damage. To heat the outside rearview mirror glass, push in the switch for the front/rear windowdefroster. The rearview mirror glass will be heated for defrosting or defog- ging and will give you improved rearvision in inclement weather conditions. Push the switch again to turn the heater off. The windscreen wiper switch has three positions.

When the washer lever is oper- ated, the wipers automatically make two passes across the windshield. Thewasher continues to operate until the lever is released. NOTE: In winter conditions where screen washer icing occurs, a winter screen wash additive containing an anti-freeze component may be used. Only fluids specifically intended for this purpose should be used. En-sure that undiluted additive is not spilt upon the vehicle paintwork and that engine coolant anti-freezeis not used for this purpose or dam- age to the paintwork may occur.

B510B01Y-EAT Electric Type (Not all models) The outside rearview mirrors can be adjusted to your preferred rear vision, both directly behind the vehicle, and to the rear of the left and right sides.The remote control outside rearview mirror switch controls the adjustments for both right and left outside mirrors. To adjust the position of either mir- ror:
1. Move the selecting switch to the right or left to activate the adjustablemechanism for the correspondingdoor mirror.
2. Now, adjust mirror angle by de-
pressing the appropriate perimeterswitch as illustrated. CAUTION:
o Do not operate the switch continu- ously for an unnecessary lengthof time.
o Scraping ice from the mirror face
could cause permanent damage.To remove any ice, use a sponge, soft cloth or approved de-icer.
WARNING:
Be careful when judging the size or distance of any object seen in thepassenger side rearview mirror. It is a convex mirror with a curved sur- face. Any objects seen in this mirrorare closer than they appear.

WARNING: ENGINE EXHAUST CAN BE DANGEROUS!
Engine exhaust gases are potentially lethal. If at any time engine exhaust gas is detected within the passenger compartment, move the vehicle to an open area and open all windows. o Never inhale exhaust gas. Exhaust gases contain Carbon Monoxide which is colourless and odourless. Carbon Monoxide is poisonous and can cause unconsciousness and death by asphyxiation. o Exhaust System Maintenance. Ensure that the exhaust system is maintained in good condition and is free from excessive corrosion and damage which may result in leakage. If the vehicle is driven over an object which strikes the exhaust system,ensure that the exhaust system is inspected at the first available opportunity to ensure that no leakage exists. o Confined Areas. Do not run the engine in confined spaces, allowing the engine to idle in a garage, even when the doors are open is dangerous practice. Only start the engine immediately prior to moving the vehicle out of the garage. o Prolonged Idling. If it is necessary to allow the vehicle to idle for prolonged periods, ensure that the heating system air intake control is set to the "Fresh" position, the blower is set to high speed operation and that the vehicle is standing in an open area. o Load Carrying. If it is necessary to carry long objects which do not permit the hatchback door to be fully closed, the side windows must remain closed and the heating air intake control set to the "Fresh" position with the blower running at the highest speed setting. To ensure correct operation of the heater system, the air intake grilles at the base of the windscreen must not be obstructed by snow leaves etc..

YC170C1-E Anti-freeze/Corrosion inhibitor The cooling system must always con- tain an Ethylene-Glycol based anti-freeze solution. The system is filled during manufacture with solution of the correct strength which should bechecked before the onset of winter and adjusted or changed as required. NOTE: The anti-freeze solution contains a corrosion inhibitor to prevent deg- radation of the aluminium castingscontained within the engine. There- fore, never, drain the system and refill with water only. In addition, anti-freeze solution must ALWAYS be used in vehicles fittedwith air conditioning, to prevent the heater matrix from freezing and sub- sequently bursting with the refrigera-tion system in use. ZC170D1-E Door Locks Should the door lock mechanism be- come frozen, a proprietary lock de-icershould be used. Alternatively, warm- ing the door key may thaw the door lock. However, the key should behandled carefully to avoid burning the fingers. Never attempt to thaw a frozen doorlock using hot water, since the water will eventually freeze and compound the problem. NOTE: The proper temperature for using the immobilizer key is from -40°F to176°F (-40°C to 80°C). If you heat the immobilizer key over 176°F (80°C) to open the frozen lock, it may causedamage to the transponder in its head.
ZC170E1-E Windscreen Washers & Wipers The windscreen washer bottle should be filled with a solution of water and a proprietary winter screen wash addi- tive. The windscreen wipers shouldnot be used if the blades are frozen to the windscreen or if they are covered with snow, before this is removed. NOTE: Never allow undiluted screen washer fluid additive to spill uponthe paintwork or use engine cool- ant anti-freeze since damage to the paintwork may result.
o When driving in extreme condi-
tions, the windscreen wiper blades may fail to clear the screen properly due to the formation of ice upon the blade edge. It willtherefore be necessary to peri- odically remove such ice to re- store their efficiency.
o If the power operated door mir- rors become frozen, attempts toadjust these may damage themechanism.

engine and ensure that no oil leaks exist. Turn off the engine and aftera couple minutes, recheck the oil level.
CAUTION:
Slowly pour the recommended oil by using a funnel. Do not overfill not to damage the engine.
WARNING:
Prolonged and repeated contact withused engine oils may result in seri- ous skin disorders including der-matitis and cancer. Avoid contact with skin as far as possible and always wash thoroughly after anycontact. Keep used oils out of reach of children. It is illegal to pollute drains, water courses and soil. Useonly authorized waste collection facilities including civic amenity sites and garages for the disposalof used oil and oil filters. If in doubt, contact the local authority for dis- posal instructions. WARNING:
Do not remove the radiator cap when
the engine is hot, since the system is pressurized and coolant may be ejected from the radiator resultingin scalding.

Coolant recommendations
Only ethylene glycol based coolant
with a corrosion inhibitor suited toaluminium alloy engine componentsshould be used in the cooling system. No further additives or inhibitors should be used. The coolant specificgravity should be checked as pre- scribed in the maintenance schedule to ensure adequate frost and corro-sion protection. In addition, the en- gine coolant must be replaced at the specified interval since the corrosioninhibitor properties deteriorate with time.

It is important to note that whilst an increase in the concentration of antifreeze gives an increase in the level of frost protection, a solution which is in excess of 65% anti freeze will resultin reduced frost protection and engine overheating. Therefore the recom- mended concentration of 50% shouldnot be exceeded for general use.The use of methanol based anti freezecompounds may result in engine over-heating and will invalidate the vehicle warranty. NOTE: It is imperative that vehicles fitted with an air conditioning systemhave a coolant concentration of the recommended strength at all times. The use of the air condition-ing system when the cooling sys- tem is filled with water only will result in the heater matrix freezingand subsequently bursting.

3. With the heater temperature control set to the "HOT" position, remove the radiator cap and open the radia-tor drain tap. 4. When the engine coolant has drained
completely, close the drain tap en-suring that this is not over tight- ened.
5. Prepare a suitable quantity of new engine coolant (refer to section 9)and pour this into the radiator.
6. Start the engine with the radiator cap still removed and continue to add coolant as the level decreases as air is expelled from the system. When the level remains constant,replace the radiator cap and replen- ish the coolant reservoir.
7. When the engine is hot, check to ensure that no coolant leaks are present.

!WARNING:
The cooling fan is controlled by engine coolant temperature and maysometimes operate even when the engine is not running. Use extreme caution when working near theblades of the cooling fan so that you are not injured by a rotating fan blade. As the engine coolant tem-perature decreases, the fan will au- tomatically shut off. This is a nor- mal condition.
