Gasohol (a mixture of 90% unleaded gasoline and 10% ethanol or grain alcohol) may be used in your Hyundai.However, if your engine develops drive ability problems, the use of 100% un- leaded gasoline is recommended. Fu-els with unspecified quantities of alco- hol, or alcohols other than ethanol, should not be used.
B010A01O-GAT Use Unleaded Gasoline Unleaded gasoline with a Pump Oc- tane Rating of 87 (Research Octane Number 91) or higher must be used inHyundai vehicle. If leaded gasoline is used, it will cause the catalytic con- verter to become ineffective and theemission control system to malfunc- tion. This can also result in increased main-tenance expense. To avoid accidental use of leaded fuel, the large nozzle used with leaded gasoline at servicestations can not be inserted into fuel tank opening of your Hyundai.
NOTE:
o For some countries, Hyundai
vehicles are designed to use leaded gasoline. When you aregoing to use leaded gasoline, ask to Hyundai dealer whether leaded gasoline in your vehicleis available or not.
o Octane rating of leaded gasoline
is same with unleaded one.
Use Diesel Diesel fuel of 52 to 54 cetane is the correct rating to use in your Hyundai. If two types of diesel fuel are available, use summer or winter fuel properlyaccording to the following temperature conditions.
o Above -5°C (23°F) ... Summer type diesel fuel.
o Below -5°C (23°F) ... Winter type
diesel fuel.
Watch the fuel level in the tank very carefully : If the engine stops through fuel failure, the circuits must be com- pletely purged to permit restarting. CAUTION:
o Do not let any gasoline or water enter the tank. This would makeit necessary to drain it out and to bleed the lines to avoid jamming the injection pump and damag-ing the engine.
o In winter, in order to cut down
incidents due to freezing, paraf-fin oil may be added to the fuel if the temperature drops to below -10°C. Never use more than 20% paraffin oil.

When the key is turned to the "ON" position, the 4WD(Four Wheel Drive)LOW indicator light will come on and then go off in a few seconds. The 4WD low indicator light comes onwhen the transfer shift knob is set to LOW position (Part-time 4WD type : 4L position, Full-time 4WD type : Lowposition). When the key is turned to the "ON" position, the 4WD(Four Wheel Drive) HIGH indicator light will come on and then go off in a few seconds.The 4WD HIGH indicator light will illu- minate when the transfer shift knob is set to 4H position.

Immobilizer Warning Light (Diesel Engine (2.9CRDi)) (If Installed)
This indicator light comes on for some seconds after the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position. At this time, you can start the engine. The light goes outafter the engine is running. In case this light goes out before you start the engine, you must turn to the "LOCK"position and restart the engine. In case this light blinks for five seconds when the ignition key is turned to "ON" posi-tion, this indicates that the immobilizer system is out of order. At this time, refer to the explanation of the Limphome procedure(See page 1-9) or con- sult to the Hyundai dealer.

B260U01HP-DAT A/T(Automatic Transmis- sion) Oil TemperatureWarning Light (If Installed)
The A/T oil temperature warning light comes on when the automatic trans- mission oil temperature goes up to the temperature that may result in seriousdamage of automatic transmission. If the A/T oil temperature warning light comes on while driving, park your ve-hicle in at a safe place as soon as possible. With the selector lever shifted into "P" position, allow the engine toidle until the warning light goes off. When the warning light goes off, the vehicle can be driven normally. CAUTION:
If the warning light doesn't go off orblinks, this indicates that there is a malfunction in the automatic trans- mission or T.C.U (TransmissionControl Unit). If this occurs, have your vehicle checked by an autho- rized Hyundai dealer.
B260C01A-AAT O/D OFF Indicator (Automatic Transmissiononly)
When the overdrive switch is turned on, the overdrive off indicator will go out. This amber indicator will be illumi-nated when the overdrive switch is turned off.

Proper care of your cassette tapes will extend the tape life and increase yourlistening enjoyment. Always protect your tapes and cassette cases from direct sunlight, severe cold and dustyconditions. When not in use, cassettes should always be stored in the protec- tive cassette case in which they wereoriginally supplied. When the vehicle is very hot or cold, allow the interior temperature to become more comfort-able before listening to your cassettes. o Never leave a cassette inserted in
the player when not being played.This could damage the tape player unit and the cassette tape.
o We strongly recommend against the
use of tapes longer than C-60 (60minutes total). Tapes such as C- 120 or C-180 are very thin and donot perform as well in the automo- tive environment. o Be sure that the cassette label is not
loose or peeling off or tape ejection may be difficult.
o Never touch or soil the actual audio
tape surfaces.
o Keep all magnetized objects, such as electric motors, speakers or trans-formers away from your cassettetapes and tape player unit.
o Store cassettes in a cool, dry place
with the open side facing down toprevent dust from setting in the cas- sette body.
o Avoid repeated fast reverse usage to replay one given tune or tapesection. This can cause poor tape winding to occur, and eventuallycause excessive internal drag and poor audio quality in the cassette. If this occurs, it can sometimes becorrected by fast winding the tape from end to end several times. If this does not correct the problem, do notcontinue to use the tape in your vehicle.

B870A01A-GAT Fixed Rod Antenna Your car uses a fixed rod antenna to receive both AM and FM broadcast signals.This antenna is a removable type. To remove the antenna, turn the antenna counterclockwise. To install the an-tenna, turn the antenna clockwise.
CAUTION:
Be sure to remove the antenna be-fore washing the car in an auto- matic car wash or the antenna may be damaged.
o The playback head, capstan and pinch rollers will develop a coating of tape residue that can result in deterioration of sound quality, such as a wavering sound. They should be cleaned monthly using a com-mercially available head cleaning tape or special solution available from audio specialty shops. Followthe supplier's directions carefully and never oil any part of the tape player unit.
o Always be sure that the tape is tightly wound on its reel before in-serting in the player. Rotate a pencilin the drive sprockets to wind up any slack. NOTE: Look at a tape before you insert it. If the tape is loose, tighten it byturning one of the hubs with a pen- cil or your finger. If the label is peeling off, do not putit in the player. It may cause the tape jam in the drive mechanism when you try to eject it.Do not leave tape sitting where they are exposed to hot warm or, high humidity, such as on top of thedashboard or in the player. If a tape is exposed to excessively hot or cold, let it reach a moderatetemperature before putting it in the player.B860A03L

C160F01A-AAT Check Spark Plugs and Ignition System Inspect your spark plugs as described in Section 6 and replace them if neces-sary. Also check all ignition wiring and components to be sure they are not cracked, worn or damaged in any way. C160G02A-GAT To Keep Locks from Freezing To keep the locks from freezing, squirt an approved de-icer fluid or glycerine into the key opening. If a lock is cov-ered with ice, squirt it with an approved de-icing fluid to remove the ice. If the lock is frozen internally, you may beable to thaw it out by using a heated key. Handle the heated key with care to avoid injury. NOTE: The proper temperature for using the immobilizer key is from -40°C (-40°F) to 80°C (176°F). If you heatthe immobilizer key over 80°C (176°F) to open the frozen lock, it may cause damage to the transpon-der in its head.
C160D01A-AAT Check Battery and Cables Winter puts additional burdens on the battery system. Visually inspect thebattery and cables as described in Section 6. The level of charge in your battery can be checked by your Hyundaidealer or a service station. C160E01A-AAT Change to "Winter Weight" Oil if Necessary In some climates it is recommended that a lower viscosity "winter weight" oil be used during cold weather. See Section 9 for recommendations. If youaren't sure what weight oil you should use, consult your Hyundai dealer.
C160C01A-AAT Use High Quality Ethylene Gly- col Coolant Your Hyundai is delivered with high quality ethylene glycol coolant in thecooling system. It is the only type of coolant that should be used because it helps prevent corrosion in the coolingsystem, lubricates the water pump and prevents freezing. Be sure to replace or replenish your coolant in accor-dance with the maintenance schedule in Section 5. Before winter, have your coolant tested to assure that its freez-ing point is sufficient for the tempera- tures anticipated during the winter.

The fluid level should be in the "HOT" range of the dipstick, after the engine and transmission are at normal operat- ing temperature. Check the automatictransmission fluid level with the engine running and the transmission in neu- tral, with the parking brake properlyapplied. Use MOBIL DEXRON-II when adding or changing fluid.

Inspect the manual transmission oil according to the maintenance sched- ule.

Visually check for proper installation,
chafing, cracks, deterioration and any leakage. Replace any deteriorated or damaged parts immediately.

Check brake fluid level in the brake
fluid reservoir. The level should bebetween "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the side of the reservoir. Use only hydraulic brake fluid conforming to DOT3 or DOT 4.

Check the rear brake drums and lin-

Check the pads for excessive wear, discs for run out and wear, and cali- pers for fluid leakage.
