INFINITI Intelligent Key™ System
The INFINITI Intelligent Key™ system allows you to lock or
unlock the vehicle, open the trunk and start the engine.
NOTE: It is important to make sure the Intelligent Key is
with you (that is, in your pocket or purse).
The oper ating range of the Intelligent Key is within
31.5 in (80 c
m) from each request switch.
To lock the vehicle, push either door handle request
s
witch
01 once or press the
button
02 on
the k
eyfob.
T o unlock the vehicle, perform one of the following procedures:
• Push
either door handle request
switch
01 once; the
c
orresponding door will unlock. Push the door handle
r
equest switch
01 again within 1 minute; all other
door
s will unlock, or
• Press
the
button
03 on the keyfob to unlock the driver’s
s
ide door. Press the
button again; all other doors will unlock.
T
o release the trunk lid, press the button
04 for more than
1 sec
ond. Lift the trunk lid to access the trunk.
T o retract your hard top (Convertible models), push and hold the door handle request switch

ntil the hard top is fully open.
The Int elligent Key can also be used to activate the panic alarm by pressing and holding the
b
utton 05 for more than 1 second. Once activated, the panic alarm and headlights will stay
on f
or 25 seconds.
INFINITI INTELLIGENT KEy™ BATTERy DISCHARGE
If the battery in the Intelligent Key is almost discharged,
the guide light 06 of the Intelligent Key port blinks and
the Int
elligent Key battery discharge indicator 07 is
di
splayed in the dot matrix liquid crystal display.
T o start the engine under these circumstances, insert
the Int
elligent Key into the key port with the buttons
f
acing upward and the key ring end toward you until
it
latches into place. Then push the ignition switch to
s
tart the engine.
To remove the Intelligent Key from the port, push the
ignition sw
itch to turn the engine off and then pull the
Int
elligent Key out of the port.
The Int elligent Key port does not charge the Intelligent Key battery. If you see the low battery
indic
ator
07 , replace the battery in the Intelligent Key.

Trunk Lid Release
Use one of the following methods to open the trunk:
Push the trunk open request switch

than one second while carrying the INFINITI
Intelligent Key™ with you.

T o adjust the angle of the front seat cushion or height
of the seat, push the front or rear end of the switch

To adjust the seat lumbar support, push the front or back end of the switch

Seat Belt Guide (Convertible models)

B efore fastening the seat belt, ensure the seat belt is
in
serted into the seat belt guide and the snaps are
sec
urely fastened.
When u sing the seat belt guide, do not allow the seat
belt
to twist so that it will retract correctly.

Automatic Drive Positioner (if so equipped)
Two positions for the driver’s seat, steering column
and outside mirrors can be stored in the automatic
drive positioner memory.
F ollow these procedures to set the memory positions:
• Confirm
the shift
lever is
in the P (PA rk ) position
(aut
omatic transmissions) or the parking brake is applied (manual transmissions).
• Push
the ignition switch to the ON position.
• Adjust
the driver’s
seat, steering column and outside mirrors
to the desired positions
using
the a
djusting switches for each feature.
• Push
the SE
t sw
itch and within 5 seconds, push the memory switch (1 or 2) for at least 1 second.
• The
indicator light
on the memory
switch
y
ou select
will
illuminate for approximately
5 seconds.
• The driver’s
seat, steering column and outside mirror positions
are now set
to
y
our preference.
These memorized positions can also be linked to your INFINITI Intelligent Key™.

Passenger Rear Seat Entry/Exit
F
or ease in entering and exiting the rear passenger
ar
eas of the vehicle, perform the following steps:
1.

elease the front seatbelt guide and seat belt.

ull the seatback lever
01 upward to fold the

ont seatback forward. Make sure that the front

atback is completely folded.
3.

o slide the front seat forward, firmly push the

atback button
02 . The front seat will move forward.

TE: To stop the front seat from sliding, press the

o return the front seat to its original position:

ush or pull the seatback backward until it locks in place.

Outside Mirror Control Switch
To select the right or left side mirror, turn the control

witch
01 right or left.
T
o adjust the mirror angle, move the control switch
01 up, down, right or left.

o prevent accidentally moving the mirror, turn and
set
the switch to the middle “neutral” position.

Starting/Stopping the Engine
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (if so equipped)
Depress the brake pedal.
• If
the brake pedal
is
not
depressed, pushing the
ignition sw
itch once enters the ACC mode.
• If
the ignition is
pushed a second time, the
v
ehicle
w
ill enter the ON mode.
Pr
ess the ignition switch StA rt /StOP button to start
the en
gine.
NOTE: It is important to make sure the INFINITI Intelligent Key

MANUAL TRANSMISSION (if so equipped)
D epress the brake pedal.
• If
the brake pedal
is
not
depressed, pushing the ignition switch once enters
the ACC mode.
• If
the ignition is
pushed a second time, the
v
ehicle will
enter the ON mode.
Move the shift lever to N (NEU tr AL).
Depress the clutch pedal to the floor.
Pr ess the ignition switch StA rt /StOP button.
TURNING THE ENGINE OFF
F or an automatic transmission, move the shift lever to the P (PA rk ) position, apply the parking
br
ake and push the ignition switch.
For a manual transmission, apply the foot brake, place the vehicle in 1st gear, apply the parking
br
ake and push the ignition switch.

ENGINE
SHUT OFF
To shut off the engine in an emergency situation while driving, perform one of the following procedures:
R apidly push the push-button ignition switch 3 consecutive times in 1.5 seconds, or
Push and hold the push-button ignition switch for more than 2 seconds.

Opening/Closing the Hard Top (Convertible models)
Before opening or closing the retractable hard top, refer to
your Owner ’s Manual for detailed warnings and cautions
regarding hard top operation.

Preparing to Lower the

The
vehicle must be on a level surface when

ating the hard top.
2.

ake sure that the trunk area is absolutely empty.
3.

ull up on the strap to open the trunk room partition.
4.
Sec
ure the partition hooks into holders until they latch.
If
the trunk room partition hooks are not latched in the
ho
lders, the hard top cannot be operated and

r indicator will illuminate
on the dot
matrix liquid crystal display located

een the tachometer and speedometer.

urely close the trunk before operating the hard top.

Operation

art the engine.

ess the hard top operating switch, located on the

enter console, to OPEN or CLOSE and hold until the

op is fully positioned.
4.
The

OOF OPEN or r OOF CLOSED indicator will display when the hard top is fully positioned.

Fuel-Filler Door
The fuel-filler door is located on the passenger’s side of
the vehicle.
Unlock the fuel-filler door using one of the following

ations, then push and release the left side of
the door t
o open.

Push the door handle request
switch while carrying
the INF
INITI Intelligent Key
™ with you.
•
Press
the
UNLOC
k
button on the Intelligent Key.
•
Push
the
power
door
lock
switch to the UNLOCK
position.

Speak in a clear and natural voice without pausing between words.
Look straight ahead and avoid speaking too loudly or too softly.
To go back to the previous command, say “Go back”.
To cancel a voice recognition session, say “Exit” or press and hold the
or
button.
T o interrupt the system voice and give a command quickly, press the
or
button.
When s peaking Phonebook names, please be aware some phones require the last name to be
s
poken before the first name. For example, “Michael Smith” may be spoken as “Smith Michael”.
To increase or decrease the volume of the voice prompts, push the volume control switches
or
+ on the steering wheel or turn the VOL/ON•OFF control knob on the audio system while
the sy
stem is responding.
If the Voice Recognition system does not recognize your voice commands, train the system
u
sing the Speaker Adaptation Mode. See your Owner’s Manual for detailed information.
Some c ommands are not available while the vehicle is in motion.
The “Help” c ommand can be used to hear a list of available commands at any time.
Please refer to the cellular phone manufacturer’s Owner’s Manual for detailed information
r
egarding your Bluetooth phone.
Bluetooth® System with Navigation (if so equipped)
CONNECTING PROCEDURE
NOTE: The vehicle must be stationary when connecting
the phone.

onnect Phone” key.

Initi
ate connecting from the phone.

prompted for a PIN code, enter “1234”

om the handset. (The PIN code is assigned

PHONEBOOK SETUP
D
epending on your cell phone, the system may automatically download your cell phone’s entire
phone
book to the vehicle’s Bluetooth system.
If the phonebook does not download automatically, the vehicle phonebook may be set for up to
1,000 entries.
T o manually download entries:
1.
Pr
ess the
button and select the “Vehicle
Phonebook” key.
2.
Sel
ect the “Add New” key at the top of the display.
Ther
e are different methods to input a phone
number
. Select one of the following options:
• “Copy
from Call
History” to save a number from
the Out
going, Incoming or Missed Calls lists.

“C
opy
from the Handset” to save a number that
h
as been downloaded from your handset to
the vehicle.
•
“Ent

Number by
Keypad” to input
the number
and name manually.
MAKING A CALL
To make a call, follow this procedure:
1.

button on the steering wheel. The “Phone”
menu w
ill appear on the control panel display.
2.
Sel
ect the “Vehicle Phonebook”, “Call History”,
“Hand
set Phonebook” or “Dial Number” key.
3.
Sel
ect the desired entry from the list.
4.
Sel
ect “Call” to start dialing the number.
RECEIVING/ENDING A CALL
T o accept the call, press the button on the steering
wheel
or touch the “Answer” key. To reject the call,
t
ouch the “Reject Call” key.
T o hang-up, press the button or touch the
“Han
g-Up” key.
