CRUISE CONTROL OPERATIONS
The cruise control allows driving at a speed
between 25 to 89 MPH (40 to 144 km/h) without
keeping your foot on the accelerator pedal.
To turn on the cruise control, push the MAIN
switch on. The CRUISE indicator light will come
on.
To set cruising speed, accelerate the vehicle to
the desired speed, push the SET/COAST switch and release it. (The CRUISE SET indicator will
illuminate in the instrument panel.) Take your
foot off the accelerator pedal. Your vehicle will
maintain the set speed.
c
To pass another vehicle, depress the accel-
erator pedal. When you release the pedal,
the vehicle will return to the previously set
speed.
c The vehicle may not maintain the set speed
on winding or hilly roads. If this happens,
drive without the cruise control.
To cancel the preset speed, use one of the
following methods:
a) Push the CANCEL switch. The SET indica- tor light will turn off.
b) Tap the brake pedal. The SET indicator light will turn off.
c) Turn the MAIN switch off. Both the CRUISE and SET indicator lights will turn off.
c If you depress the brake pedal while pushing
the RESUME/ACCELERATE or SET/COAST
switch and reset at the cruising speed, the
cruise control will disengage. Turn the MAIN
switch off once and then turn it on again.
c The cruise control will automatically cancel if
the vehicle slows more than 8 MPH (12
km/h) below the set speed.

cIf you move the selector lever to the N
(Neutral) position, the cruise control will be
canceled.
To reset at a faster cruising speed, use one of
the following methods:
c Depress the accelerator pedal. When the
vehicle attains the desired speed, push and
release the SET/COAST switch.
c Push and hold the RESUME/ACCELERATE
switch. When the vehicle attains the desired
speed, release the switch.
c Push, then quickly release the
RESUME/ACCELERATE switch. Each time you
do this, the set speed will increase by about
1 MPH (1.6 km/h).
To reset at a slower cruising speed, use one of
the following methods:
c Lightly tap the brake pedal. When the ve-
hicle attains the desired speed, push the
SET/COAST switch and release it.
c Push and hold the SET/COAST switch. Re-
lease the switch when the vehicle slows
down to the desired speed.
c Push, then quickly release the SET/COAST
switch. Each time you do this, the set speed
will decrease by about 1 MPH (1.6 km/h). To resume the preset speed,
push and release
the RESUME/ACCELERATE switch. The vehicle
will resume the last set cruising speed when the
vehicle speed is over 25 MPH (40 km/h). The Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) system au-
tomatically maintains a selected distance from
the vehicle traveling in front of you according to
that vehicle's speed (up to the set speed), or at
the set speed when the road ahead is clear.
The ICC function can be set to one of two cruise
control modes:
c
Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode:
For maintaining a selected distance between
your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you
up to the preset speed.
c Conventional (fixed speed) cruise control
mode:
For cruising at a preset speed.
WARNING
cAlways drive carefully and attentively when
using either cruise control mode. Read and
understand the Owner's Manual thoroughly
before using the cruise control. To avoid se-
rious injury or death, do not rely on the sys-
tem to prevent accidents or to control the
vehicle's speed in emergency situations. Do
not use cruise control except in appropriate
road and traffic conditions.

To set cruising speed,accelerate your vehicle to
the desired speed, push the SET/COAST switch
and release it. (Vehicle ahead detection indica-
tor, set distance indicator and set vehicle speed
indicator come on.) Take your foot off the
accelerator pedal. Your vehicle will maintain the
set speed. When the SET/COAST switch is pushed under
the following conditions, the system cannot be
set and the ICC indicators will blink for approxi-
mately 2 seconds:
c
When traveling below 25 MPH (40 km/h) and
the vehicle ahead is not detected
c When the selector lever is not in the D, DS or
Manual mode
c When the windshield wipers are operating at
low (LO) or high speed (HI). If the vehicle is
equipped with a rain-sensing auto wiper, the
system may cancel when the wipers are
operating at the intermittent (INT) speed.
c When the brakes are operated by the driver When the SET/COAST switch is pushed under
the following conditions, the system cannot be
set.
A warning chime will sound and the ICC indica-
tors will blink.
c
When the SNOW mode switch is ON (To use
the ICC system, turn off the SNOW mode
switch, push the MAIN switch to turn off the
ICC and reset the ICC switch by pressing the
MAIN switch again.)

Normally when controlling the distance to a
vehicle ahead, this system automatically accel-
erates or decelerates your vehicle according to
the speed of the vehicle ahead. Depress the
accelerator to properly accelerate your vehicle
when acceleration is required for a lane
change. Depress the brake pedal when decel-
eration is required to maintain a safe distance
to the vehicle ahead due to its sudden braking
or if a vehicle cuts in. Always stay alert when
using the ICC system.

How to change the set vehicle speed
To cancel the preset speed,use any of these
methods:
c Push the CANCEL switch. The set vehicle
speed indicator will go out.
c Tap the brake pedal. The set vehicle speed
indicator will go out.
c Turn the MAIN switch off. Both the MAIN
switch indicator and set vehicle speed indi-
cator will go out.
To reset at a faster cruising speed, use one of
the following methods:
c Depress the accelerator pedal. When the
vehicle attains the desired speed, push and
release the SET/COAST switch.
c Push and hold the RESUME/ACCELERATE
switch. The set vehicle speed will increase
by approximately 5 MPH (5 km/h for
Canada).
c Push, then quickly release the
RESUME/ACCELERATE switch. Each time you
do this, the set speed will increase by
approximately 1 MPH (1 km/h for Canada). To reset at a slower cruising speed,
use one of
the following methods:
c Lightly tap the brake pedal. When the ve-
hicle attains the desired speed, push the
SET/COAST switch and release it.
c Push and hold the SET/COAST switch. The
set vehicle speed will decrease by approxi-
mately 5 MPH (5 km/h for Canada).
c Push, then quickly release the SET/COAST
switch. Each time you do this, the set speed
will decrease by approximately 1 MPH (1
km/h for Canada).
To resume the preset speed, push and release
the RESUME/ACCELERATE switch. The vehicle
will resume the last set cruising speed when the
vehicle speed is over 25 MPH (40 km/h).
How to change the set distance to
the vehicle ahead
The distance to the vehicle ahead can be se-
lected at any time depending on the traffic
conditions.
Each time the DISTANCE switch
sAis pushed,
the set distance will change to long, middle,
short and back to long again in that sequence.

When the ignition switch is pushed to the LOCK
position, the system is also automatically
turned off. To use the Intelligent Cruise Control
again, quickly push and release the MAIN
switch (vehicle-to-vehicle distance control
mode) or push and hold it (conventional cruise
control mode) again to turn it on.
CAUTION
To avoid accidentally engaging cruise control,
make sure to turn the MAIN switch off when not
using the Intelligent Cruise Control system.To set cruising speed,accelerate your vehicle to
the desired speed, push the SET/COAST switch
and release it. (The CRUISE SET indicator will
come on in the display.) Take your foot off the
accelerator pedal. Your vehicle will maintain the
set speed.
c To pass another vehicle, depress the accel-
erator pedal. When you release the pedal,
the vehicle will return to the previously set
speed.
c The vehicle may not maintain the set speed
when going up or down steep hills. If this
happens, manually maintain vehicle speed.
To cancel the preset speed, use one of the
following methods:
a) Push the CANCEL button. The CRUISE SET indicator will turn off.
b) Tap the brake pedal. The CRUISE SET indicator will turn off.
c) Turn the MAIN switch off. Both the CRUISE indicator light and CRUISE SET indicator
will turn off.
To reset at a faster cruising speed, use one of
the following three methods:
a) Depress the accelerator pedal. When the vehicle attains the desired speed, push
and release the SET/COAST switch.
b) Push and hold the RESUME/ACCELERATE set switch. When the vehicle attains the
desired speed, release the switch.
c) Push, then quickly release the RESUME/ACCELERATE switch. Each time
you do this, the set speed will increase by
about 1 MPH (1.6 km/h).
To reset at a slower cruising speed, use one of
the following three methods:
a) Lightly tap the brake pedal. When the vehicle attains the desired speed, push
the SET/COAST switch and release it.
b) Push and hold the SET/COAST switch. Release the switch when the vehicle
slows down to the desired speed.

Automatic cancellation
A chime sounds under the following conditions
and the control is automatically canceled.
c When the vehicle slows down more than 8
MPH (13 km/h) below the set speed
c When the vehicle speed falls below approxi-
mately 20 MPH (32 km/h)
c When the selector lever is not in the D, DS or
Manual mode
c When the VDC (including the traction control
system) operates
c When a wheel slips
Warning light
When the system is not operating properly, the
chime sounds and the system warning light
(orange) will come on.
Action to take :
If the warning light comes on, park the vehicle
in a safe place. Turn the engine off, restart the
engine, resume driving and then perform the
setting again.
If it is not possible to set or the indicator stays
on, it may indicate that the system is malfunc-
tioning. Although the vehicle is still driveable
under normal conditions, have the vehicle
checked at an INFINITI retailer.
PREVIEW FUNCTION (for Intelligent
Cruise Control system equipped
models)
The ICC system with the preview function iden-
tifies the need to apply emergency braking by
sensing the vehicle ahead in the same lane and
the distance to the vehicle ahead and relative
speed from it, it applies the brake pre-pressure
before the driver depresses the brake pedal and
helps improve brake response by reducing
pedal free play.
For more details, see ªBRAKE ASSISTº later in
this section.

tance. Roadside Assistance is provided 24
hours a day, 365 days a year, for 4 years from
the date sold to give emergency roadside help,
in the event of mechanical or nonmechanical
trouble(s) such as flat tires, out-of-gas, dead
battery, lost keys, mechanical breakdown, acci-
dent, etc.TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM
(TPMS)
This vehicle is equipped with the Tire Pressure
Monitoring System (TPMS). It monitors tire
pressure of all tires except the spare. When the
low tire pressure warning light is lit, one or
more of your tires is significantly under-
inflated. If the vehicle is being driven with low
tire pressure, the TPMS will activate and warn
you of it by the low tire pressure warning light
(in the instrument panel) or the LOW PRESSURE
information screen (on the display). This system
will activate only when the vehicle is driven at
speeds above 16 MPH (25 km/h). For more
details, see ªWARNING/INDICATOR LIGHTS AND
AUDIBLE REMINDERSº in the ª2. Instruments
and controlsº section and ªTIRE PRESSURE
MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS)º in the ª5. Start-
ing and drivingº section.
For information about the tire pressure informa-
tion display, see ªHOW TO USE INFO BUTTONº
in the ª4. Monitor, climate, audio, phone and
voice recognition systemsº section.
WARNING
cIf the low tire pressure warning light illumi-
nates or LOW PRESSURE information is dis-
played on the monitor screen while driving,
avoid sudden steering maneuvers or abrupt
braking, reduce vehicle speed, pull off the
road to a safe location and stop the vehicle
as soon as possible. Driving with under-
inflated tires may permanently damage the
tires and increase the likelihood of tire fail-
ure. Serious vehicle damage could occur and
may lead to an accident and could result in
serious personal injury. Check the tire pres-
sure for all four tires. Adjust the tire pressure
to the recommended COLD tire pressure
shown on the Tire and Loading Information
label to turn the low tire pressure warning
light OFF. If the light still illuminates while
driving after adjusting the tire pressure, a
tire may be flat. If you have a flat tire, replace
it with a spare tire as soon as possible.
c When a spare tire is mounted or a wheel is
replaced, tire pressure will not be indicated,
the TPMS will not function and the low tire
pressure warning light will flash for approxi-
mately 1 minute. The light will remain on
after 1 minute. Contact your INFINITI retailer
as soon as possible for tire replacement
and/or system resetting.

cThe original tires have built-in tread
wear indicators. When wear indica-
tors are visible, the tire(s) should be
replaced.
cTires degrade with age and use. Have
tires, including the spare, over 6
years old checked by a qualified tech-
nician, because some tire damage
may not be obvious. Replace the tires
as necessary to prevent tire failure
and possible personal injury.
cImproper service of the spare tire may
result in serious personal injury. If it
is necessary to repair the spare tire,
contact an INFINITI retailer.
cFor additional information regarding
tires, refer to ªImportant Tire Safety
Informationº (US) or ªTire Safety In-
formationº (Canada) in the Warranty
Information Booklet.
Replacing wheels and tires
When replacing a tire, use the same size, tread
design, speed rating and load carrying capacity
as originally equipped. (See ªSPECIFICATIONSº
in the ª9. Technical and consumer informationº
section for recommended types and sizes of
tires and wheels.)
WARNING
c The use of tires other than those recom-
mended or the mixed use of tires of different
brands, construction (bias, bias-belted or ra-
dial), or tread patterns can adversely affect
the ride, braking, handling, ground clear-
ance, body-to-tire clearance, tire chain
clearance, speedometer calibration, head-
light aim and bumper height. Some of these
effects may lead to accidents and could re-
sult in serious personal injury. c
If the wheels are changed for any reason,
always replace with wheels which have the
same off-set dimension. Wheels of a differ-
ent off-set could cause premature tire wear,
degrade vehicle handling characteristics
and/or interference with the brake
discs/drums. Such interference can lead to
decreased braking efficiency and/or early
brake pad/shoe wear. See ªWHEELS AND
TIRESº in the ª9. Technical and consumer
informationº section of this manual for
wheel off-set dimensions.
c When a spare tire is mounted or a wheel is
replaced, tire pressure will not be indicated,
the TPMS will not function and the low tire
pressure warning light will flash for approxi-
mately 1 minute. The light will remain on
after 1 minute. Contact your INFINITI retailer
as soon as possible for tire replacement
and/or system resetting.
c Replacing tires with those not originally
specified by INFINITI could affect the proper
operation of the TPMS.
c Do not install a damaged or deformed wheel
or tire even if it has been repaired. Such
wheels or tires could have structural damage
and could fail without warning.
c The use of retread tire is not recommended.

A vehicle equipped with All-Wheel Drive (AWD)
should never be tested using a two wheel
dynamometer (such as the dynamometers used
by some states for emissions testing), or similar
equipment. Make sure you inform test facility
personnel that your vehicle is equipped with
AWD before it is placed on a dynamometer.
Using the wrong test equipment may result in
transmission damage or unexpected vehicle
movement which could result in serious vehicle
damage or personal injury.
Due to legal requirements in some states/ areas
or provinces, your vehicle may be required to be
in what is called the ªready conditionº for an
Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) test of the emis-
sion control system.
The vehicle is set to the ªready conditionº when
it is driven through certain driving patterns.
Usually, the ªready conditionº can be obtained
by ordinary usage of the vehicle.
If a powertrain system component is repaired or
the battery is disconnected, the vehicle may be
reset to a ªnot ready conditionº. Before taking
the I/M test, check the vehicle's
inspection/maintenance test readiness condi-
tion. Push the ignition switch to the ON position
without starting the engine. If the Malfunction
Indicator Light (MIL) comes on steady for 20
seconds and then blinks for 10 seconds, the I/Mtest condition is ªnot readyº. If the MIL does not
blink after 20 seconds, the I/M test condition is
ªreadyº.
If the MIL indicates the vehicle is in a ªnot
readyº condition, drive the vehicle through the
following pattern to set the vehicle to the
ªready conditionº. If you cannot or do not want
to perform the driving pattern, an INFINITI re-
tailer can conduct it for you.
WARNING
Always drive the vehicle in a safe and prudent
manner according to traffic conditions and
obey all traffic laws.
1. Start the engine. Allow the engine to idle
until the engine coolant temperature
gauge needle points between the C and H
(normal operating temperature).
2. Accelerate the vehicle to 55 MPH (88 km/h), then quickly release the accelera-
tor pedal completely and keep it released
for at least 10 seconds.
3. Quickly depress the accelerator pedal for a moment, then drive the vehicle at a
speed of 53 to 60 MPH (86 to 96 km/h) for
at least 9 minutes.
4. Stop the vehicle. Leave the engine run- ning. 5. Accelerate the vehicle to 35 MPH (55
km/h) and maintain the speed for 20
seconds.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 at least 10 times.
7. Accelerate the vehicle to 55 MPH (88 km/h) and maintain the speed for at least
3 minutes.
8. Stop the vehicle. Place the transmission selector lever in the P (Park) or N (Neutral)
position.
9. Turn the engine off.
10. Repeat steps 1 through 8 at least one more time.
If step 1 through 7 is interrupted, repeat the
preceding step. Any safe driving mode is ac-
ceptable between steps. Do not stop the engine
until step 7 is completed.
