FRONT FOG LAMP SYSTEM : System DescriptionINFOID:0000000006213907
OUTLINE
Front fog lamp is controlled by combination switch r eading function and front fog lamp control function of BCM,
and relay control function of IPDM E/R.
FRONT FOG LAMP OPERATION
BCM detects the combination switch conditi on by the combination switch reading function.
BCM transmits the front fog lights request signal to IPDM E/R via CAN communication according to the front
fog lamp ON condition.
Front fog lamp ON condition- Front fog lamp switch ON and any of the followings. (except for the high beam ON)
Lighting switch 2ND
Lighting switch AUTO (auto light function ON judgment)
IPDM E/R turns the integrated front fog lamp relay ON, and turns the front fog lamp ON according to the front
fog lights request signal.

CAN COMMUNICATION CONTROL
When CAN communication with ECM and BCM is impossible, IPDM E/R performs fail-safe control. After CAN
communication recovers normally, it also returns to normal control.
If No CAN Communication Is Available With BCM

SERVICE INFORMATION FOR ELECTRICAL INCIDENT
Note in the illustration that there is an excessive 4.1 volt drop between the battery and the bulb.
Measuring Voltage Drop — Step-by-Step
The step-by-step method is most useful for isolating excessive drops in low voltage systems (such as those
in “Computer Controlled Systems”).
Circuits in the “Computer Controlled System” operate on very low amperage.
The (Computer Controlled) system oper ations can be adversely affected by any variation in resistance in the
system. Such resistance variation may be caused by poor connection, improper installation, improper wire
gauge or corrosion.
The step by step voltage drop test can identify a component or wire with too much resistance.
CONTROL UNIT CIRCUIT TEST
System Description
When the switch is ON, the control unit lights up the lamp.
