Manual operation to return the 3rd row seats
to a seating position (if so equipped):
1. Use the pull straps
OCto raise each seat-
back. Pull back until the seatback latches
into position. Make sure to properly raise
each seatback to an upright and secured
position.
2. Do not use the pull strap to return the head restraint/headrest to the upright
position. Pull back on the head restraint/
headrest until it latches in the upright
position.
Power operation to return the 3rd row seats
to a seating position (if so equipped):
1. Push and hold the corresponding switch
ODlocated on the left side in the cargo
area.
A beep sounds once and the seatback will be
returned automatically.
A beep sounds twice when the seatback is
fully returned to the seating position. If the control unit detects any obstacle or
malfunctions while in the power operation, a
beep sounds for 4 seconds and the seatback
will return to the folded position automati-
cally. Check if there are any obstacles caught
that prevent seats from returning to the
folded position. It is recommended that you
visit an INFINITI retailer if the beep still
sounds.
CAUTION
When operating the 3rd row power seat-
back return, make sure that the vehicle is
stopped and the transmission is in the P
(Park) position.
WARNING
• When the seat is returned to the normal
seating position, the head restraints/
headrests must be returned to the up-
right position to properly protect vehicle
occupants.
• Never allow anyone to ride in the cargo
area or on the 3rd row seats when they
are in the fold-down position. In a colli-
sion, people riding in these areas are
more likely to be seriously injured or
killed.

Safety-Seats, seat belts and supplemental restraint system1-11
Page 52 of 636

There are three basic types of child restraint
systems:
• Rear-facing child restraint
• Forward-facing child restraint
• Booster seat
The proper restraint depends on the child's
size. Generally, infants up to about 1 year and
less than 20 lbs. (9 kg) should be placed in
rear-facing child restraints. Forward-facing
child restraints are available for children who
outgrow rear-facing child restraints and are
at least 1 year old. Booster seats are used to
help position a vehicle lap/shoulder belt on a
child who can no longer use a forward-facing
child restraint.
WARNING
Infants and children need special protec-
tion. The vehicle's seat belts may not fit
them properly. The shoulder belt may come
too close to the face or neck. The lap belt
may not fit over their small hip bones. In an
accident, an improperly fitting seat belt
could cause serious or fatal injury. Always
use appropriate child restraints. All U.S. states and Canadian provinces or
territories require the use of approved child
restraints for infants and small children. For
additional information, see “Child restraints”
(P. 1-28).
A child restraint may be secured in the vehicle
by using either the LATCH (Lower Anchor
and Tethers for CHildren) system or with the
vehicle seat belt. For additional information,
see “Child restraints” (P. 1-28).
INFINITI recommends that all pre-teens and
children be restrained in the rear seats.
Studies show that children are safer when
properly restrained in a rear seat than in the
front seat.
This is especially important because your
vehicle has a supplemental restraint system
(air bag system) for the front passenger.
For additional information, see “Child re-
straints” (P. 1-28) and “Supplemental Re-
straint System (SRS)” (P. 1-54).
INFANTS
Infants up to at least 1 year old should be
placed in a rear-facing child restraint.
INFINITI recommends that infants be placed
in child restraints that comply with Federal
Motor Vehicle Safety Standards or Canadian
Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. You should
choose a child restraint that fits your vehicle
and always follow the manufacturer's in-
structions for installation and use.
SMALL CHILDREN
Children that are over 1 year old and weigh at
least 20 lbs. (9 kg) should remain in a rear-
facing child restraint as long as possible up to
the height or weight limit of the child re-
straint. Children who outgrow the height or
weight limit of the rear-facing child restraint
and are at least 1 year old should be secured
in a forward-facing child restraint with a har-
ness. Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions
for minimum and maximum weight and
height recommendations. INFINITI recom-
mends that small children be placed in child
restraints that comply with Federal Motor
Vehicle Safety Standards or Canadian Motor
Vehicle Safety Standards. You should choose
a child restraint that fits your vehicle and
always follow the manufacturer’s instruc-
tions for installation and use.

WARNING
• When sitting in the 2nd row rear seat, do
not hold onto the seatback of the front
seat. If the side air bag inflates, you may
be seriously injured. Be especially careful
with children, who should always be
properly restrained. Some examples of
dangerous riding positions are shown in
the illustrations.
• Do not use seat covers on the front seat-
backs. They may interfere with side air
bag inflation.

Master warning light (if so
equipped)
When the ignition is in the ON position, the
master warning light illuminates if a warning
message appears in the vehicle information
display.
For additional information, see “Vehicle in-
formation display–7 inch (18 cm) Type A”
(P. 2-22) or “Vehicle information display—
12.3 inch (31 cm) Type B” (P. 2-44).
Seat belt warning light (if so
equipped)
The light and chime reminds you to fasten the
driver and front passenger seat belts.
The 2nd and 3rd row seats may also be
equipped with a seat belt reminder.
For additional information, see “Seat belts”
(P. 1-17).
Steering Assist Hands Off
warning light (if so equipped)
When the Steering Assist is activated, it
monitors the driver’s steering wheel opera-
tion. If the steering wheel is not operated or
the driver takes his/her hands off the steering
wheel for a period of time, the warning light
illuminates. If the driver does not operate thesteering wheel after the warning light has
been illuminated, an audible alert sounds and
the warning flashes in the vehicle information
display, followed by a quick brake application
to request the driver to take control of the
vehicle again. If the driver remains unrespon-
sive, the vehicle will automatically turn on the
hazard lights and slow to a complete stop.
For additional information, see “Steering As-
sist” (P. 5-111).
Supplemental air bag
warning light
When the ignition switch is placed in the ON
position, the supplemental air bag warning
light illuminates for about 7 seconds and
then turns off. This means the system is
operational.
If any of the following conditions occur, the
front air bag, side air bag, curtain air bag,
and pretensioner seat belt systems need
servicing:
• The supplemental air bag warning light re-
mains on after approximately 7 seconds.
• The supplemental air bag warning light does not come on at all.
It is recommended that you visit an INFINITI
retailer for these services. Unless checked and repaired, the supplemen-
tal restraint system (air bag system) and/or
the pretensioners may not function properly.
For additional information, see “Supplemen-
tal Restraint System (SRS)” (P. 1-54).
WARNING
If the supplemental air bag warning light is
on, it could mean that the front air bag, side
air bag, curtain air bag and/or preten-
sioner systems will not operate in an acci-
dent. To help avoid injury to yourself or
others, have your vehicle checked as soon
as possible. It is recommended that you
visit an INFINITI retailer for this service.

cess has stopped, the indicator will blink in
orange for 8 seconds then turn off.
WIRELESS CHARGER
OPERATION
To use the wireless charger, it is necessary to
seat the smartphone well within the charging
pad. To maximize charging performance, en-
sure the smartphone is fully seated on the
center of the charging pad over the "Qi" logo
OA. Because the location of the power re-
ceiver may vary depending on the smart-
phone, you will need to try and find the area
that suits your smartphone.
Because some smartphone cases or accesso-
ries may adversely affect charging, remove
them before wireless charging. Turn off the
vibration function of the smartphone before
wireless charging.
NOTE:
• Only a Qi compatible smartphone can be
used.
• The smartphone may be warmed during

If this occurs, restart charging after the
smartphone cooled down. The indicator
will blink in orange then turn off.
• The wireless charging process may be
stopped by the status of the smartphone
(battery temperature, etc.).
• If a radio noise interference occurs during
charging process, put the smartphone
onto the center (“Qi” logo) position of the
wireless charger.
• The wireless charging process will stop
during process of searching the Intelligent
Key.
• The wireless charging process will not be
started when a USB (Universal Serial Bus)
cable is connected to the smartphone. The
indicator may illuminate in orange or blink
if the smartphone is put on the wireless
charger with a USB cable connected. How-
ever, charging is not performed. •
