Features of your vehicle
This system is designed to provide
protection from unauthorized entry
into the vehicle. This system is oper-
ated in three stages: the first is the
“Armed” stage, the second is the
“Theft-alarm” stage, and the third is
the “Disarmed” stage. If triggered,
the system provides an audible
alarm with blinking of the hazard
warning lights.
Armed stage
Park the vehicle and stop the engine.
Arm the system as described below.
1. Turn off the engine.
2. Make sure that all doors (and
trunk) and engine hood are closed
and latched.
3. Lock the doors by depressing the
door lock button on the smart key.
After completion of the steps above,
the hazard warning lights will blink
(for smart key, the chime also
sounds) once to indicate that the
system is armed.
If any door (or trunk) or engine hood
remains open, the hazard warning
lights and the chime will not operate
and the theft-alarm will not arm. If all
doors and trunk and engine hood are
closed after the lock button is
pressed, the hazard warning lights
blink once. The system can also be armed by
locking the doors with the key from
the front doors; however, the hazard
warning lights will not blink using this
method.
✽ ✽
NOTICE
The theft-alarm system can be deac-
tivated by an authorized Kia dealer.
If you want this feature, consult an
authorized Kia dealer.
Do not arm the system until all
passengers have left the vehicle. If
the system is armed while a pas-
senger(s) remains in the vehicle,
the alarm may be activated when
the remaining passenger(s) leave
the vehicle. If any door (or trunk)
or engine hood is opened within
30 seconds after the system
enters the armed stage, the sys-
tem is disarmed to prevent an
unnecessary alarm.

FCA is to reduce or to avoid accident
risk. It recognizes the distance from
the vehicle ahead, the pedestrian or
the cyclist through the sensors (i.e.
front view camera and front radar),
and, if necessary, warns the driver of
accident risk with the warning mes-
sage or the warning alarms and
apply emergency braking.
❈FCA stands for Forward Collision-
Avoidance Assist.
❈Sensor fusion (front view camera
+ front radar) FCA operates for the
vehicle ahead, the pedestrian or
the cyclist in front.System setting and activation
Forward Safety
The driver can activate FCA by plac-
ing the ENGINE START/STOP but-
ton to the ON position and by select-
ing:
“Settings →Vehicle →Driver
Assistance →Forward Safety”
For more details, please scan the
QR code in a separately supplied
Car Infotainment System Quick
Reference Guide.
- If you select “Active Assist”, FCA
activates. FCA produces warning
messages and warning alarms in
accordance with the collision risk
levels. Also, it controls the brakes
in accordance with the collision
risk levels.
- If you select “Warning Only”, FCA
activates and produces only warn-
ing alarms in accordance with the
collision risk levels. You should
control the brake directly because
FCA do not control the brake.
- If you select “Off ”, FCA deactivates
FORWARD COLLISION-AVOIDANCE ASSIST (FCA) (SENSOR FUSION) (IF EQUIPPED)
WARNING
Take the following precautions
when using Forward Collision-
Avoidance Assist :
This system is only a supple-
mental system and it is not
intended to, nor does it
replace the need for the
extreme care and attention of
the driver. The sensing range
and objects detectable by the
sensors are limited. Pay atten-
tion to the road conditions at
all times.
NEVER drive too fast in accor-
dance with the road condi-
tions or while cornering.
Always drive cautiously to
prevent unexpected and sud-
den situations from occur-
ring. FCA does not stop the
vehicle completely and is only
intended to help mitigate an
imminent collision.

Driving your vehicle
The warning light illumi-
nates on the LCD display,
when you cancel FCA. The
driver can monitor the
FCA ON/OFF status on the LCD dis-
play. Also, the warning light illumi-
nates when the ESC (Electronic
Stability Control) is turned off. When
the warning light remains ON with
FCA activated, have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized Kia deal-
er.
The driver can select the initial warn-
ing activation time on the
Infotainment System screen.Warning Timing
Go to the “Settings →Vehicle →
Driver Assistance →Warning Timing
→Normal/Later”.
The options for the initial Forward
Collision Warning includes the fol-
lowing:
- Normal:
When this condition is selected, the
initial Forward Collision Warning is
activated normally. This setting
allows for a nominal amount of dis-
tance between the vehicle ahead
before the initial warning occurs.- Later:
When this condition is selected, the
initial Forward Collision Warning is
activated later than normal. This set-
ting reduces the amount of distance
between the vehicle ahead, the
pedestrian or the cyclist before the
initial warning occurs.
Select 'Later' when traffic is light and
when driving speed is slow.
If the vehicle in front puts on a burst
of speed, the driver can notice the
warning alarm is early even though
the later option is selected.
