Features of your vehicle
Door Ajar Warning Light
This warning light illuminates:
When a door is not closed securely.
Tailgate Open WarningLight
This warning light illuminates: When the tailgate is not closed
securely.
Fuel Filter Warning Light(Diesel Engine)
This warning light illuminates:
Once you set the ignition switch or Engine Start/Stop Button to the ON position.
- It illuminates for approximately 3seconds and then goes off. When water has accumulated
inside the fuel filter.
In this case, remove the water from
the fuel filter.
For more details, refer to “Fuel
Filter” in chapter 8.
Exhaust system (DPF)
warning light (Diesel Engine)
This warning light illuminates:
When there is a malfunction with Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) system.
When this warning light illumi- nates, it may turn off after driving
the vehicle: - at more than 60km/h (37 mph), or
- at more than 2nd gear with 1500~ 2000 engine rpm for a certain
time (for about 25 minutes).
If the this warning light blink in spiteof the procedure (at this time LCD
warning message will be displayed),
we recommend that you have the
DPF system checked by an autho-
rised Kia dealer.
CAUTION - Fuel Filter
Warning Light
When the Fuel Filter Warning
Light illuminates, enginepower (vehicle speed & idlespeed) may decrease.
If you keep driving with the warning light on, engine parts(injector, common rail, high pressure fuel pump) may bedamaged. If this occurs, werecommend that you have the vehicle inspected by an autho-rised Kia dealer as soon aspossible.
CAUTION - Diesel Engine
with DPF (if equipped)
If you continue to drive with the DPF warning light blinking for along time, the DPF system can be damaged and fuel consump-tion can worsen.

Normal Maintenance Schedule - For Europe (Except Russia)
The following maintenance services must be performed to ensure good emission control and performance. Keep
receipts for all vehicle emission services to protect your warranty. Where both mileage and time are shown, the fre-
quency of service is deter mined by whichever occurs first.

*1Coolant (Engine)
When adding coolant, use only deionized water or soft water for your vehicle and never
mix hard water in the coolant filled at the factory. An improper coolant mixture can result
in serious malfunction or engine damage.
*2Drive belts (Engine)Inspect drive belt tensioner, idler and alternator pulley and if necessary correct or replace.
*3Transaxle fluidManual transaxle fluid and dual clutch transmission fluid should be changed anytime they
have been submerged in water.
*4Engine oil and engine oil filter
Check the engine oil level and leak every 500 km (350 miles) or before starting a long trip.

Operating with an insufficient amount of oil can damage the engine, and such damage is not cov-
ered by warranty.
*5Engine oil and engine oil filter (For Diesel Engine)
20,000 km or 12 months.
Operating with an insufficient amount of oi can damage the engine, and such damage is not cov-
ered by warranty.
It is applicable only when using a qualified fuel <"EN590 or equivalent">. If the diesel fuel specifications don't meet the
EN590, it must be replaced according to the severe maintenance schedule.

*6Fuel additives (Petrol)
Kia recommends that you use unleaded petrol which has an octane rating of RON (Research
Octane Number) 95 / AKI (Anti Knock Index) 91 or higher (for Europe) or Octane Rating of
RON (Research Octane Number) 91 / AKI (Anti-Knock Index) 87 or higher (except Europe).
For customers who do not use good quality gasolines including fuel additives regularly, and
have problems starting or the engine does not run smoothly, one bottle of additives added
to the fuel tank at every 15,000km (for Europe, Australia and New Zealand)/ 10,000km
(except Europe, Australia and New Zealand, China) / 5,000 km (for China) . Additives are
available from your authorised Kia dealer along with information on how to use them. Do
not mix other additives.
*7Fuel filter cartridge (Diesel)
This maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality. It is applicable only when using a
qualified fuel <"EN590 or equivalent">. If the diesel fuel specifications don't meet the
EN590, it must be replaced more frequently. If there are some important safety matters
like fuel flow restriction, surging, loss of power, hard starting problem etc., replace the fuel
filter immediately regardless of maintenance schedule and we recommend that you con-
sult an authorized Kia dealer for details.
*8Valve clearanceInspect for excessive valve noise and/or engine vibration and adjust if necessary.
We recommend that the system be checked by an authorized Kia dealer.
*9Spark plugFor your convenience, it can be replaced prior to it's interval when you do maintenance
of other items.
