To activate the immobilizer system:
Change the engine start/stop button to
the OFF position. The immobilizer sys‐ tem activates automatically. Without a
valid ignition key for your vehicle, the
engine will not start.
To deactivate the immobilizersystem:
Change the engine start/stop button to
the ON position.
WARNING
In order to prevent theft of your ve‐hicle, do not leave spare keys any‐where in your vehicle. Your immobil‐izer password is a customer uniquepassword and should be kept confi‐dential. Do not leave this numberanywhere in your vehicle.
NOTICE
When starting the engine, do not
use the key with other immobilizer
keys around. Otherwise the engine
may not start or may stop soon af‐

rately in order to avoid a starting
malfunction.
CAUTION
Do not put metal accessories nearthe ignition switch. Metal accesso‐ries may interrupt the transpondersignal and may prevent the enginefrom being started.

your keys, we recommend that you
consult an authorized Kia dealer.

The transponder in your ignition keyis an important part of the immobil‐izer system. It is designed to giveyears of trouble-free service. How‐

ever, you should avoid exposure tomoisture, static electricity and roughhandling. Immobilizer system mal‐function could occur.
CAUTION
Do not change, alter or adjust theimmobilizer system because it couldcause the immobilizer system tomalfunction. We recommend thatthe system be serviced by an au‐thorized Kia dealer. Malfunctionscaused by improper alterations, ad‐justments or modifications to theimmobilizer system are not coveredby your vehicle manufacturer war‐ranty.

Disarmed stage
The system will be disarmed when:- The door unlock button is pressed.
- The button of the front outside door
is pressed while carrying the smart
key.
- The engine is started (within 3 sec‐
onds).
After the doors are unlocked, the haz‐
ard warning lights will blink twice to in‐ dicate that the system is disarmed.
After pressing the unlock button, if any
door (or trunk) is not opened within 30
seconds, the system will be rearmed.
NOTICE
•If the system is not disarmed with
the smart key, open the door with
the mechanical key and start the
engine. Then the system will be
disarmed.
•If you lose your keys, we recom‐
mend that you consult an author‐
ized Kia dealer.
CAUTION
Do not change, alter or adjust thetheft-alarm system because it couldcause the theft-alarm system tomalfunction and we recommend thatthe system be serviced by an au‐thorized Kia dealer.Malfunctions caused by improper al‐terations, adjustments or modifica‐tions to the theft-alarm system arenot covered by your vehicle manu‐facturer warranty.
