REARVIEW CAMERA (IF EQUIPPED)

The rearview camera will activate when
the back-up light is ON with the ignition switch ON and the shift lever in the R
(Reverse) position. This system is a supplemental system
that shows behind the vehicle through the rearview display mirror while back‐
ing up.
WARNING
•This system is a supplementaryfunction only. It is the responsibili‐ty of the driver to always checkthe inside/outside rearview mirrorand the area behind the vehiclebefore and while backing up be‐cause there is a dead zone thatcan't be seen by the camera.
•Always keep the camera lensclean. If the lens is covered withforeign matter, the camera maynot operate normally.
❈ If your vehicle is equipped with AVN
(Audio, Video and Navigation) sys‐
tem, rearview display will show be‐
hind the vehicle through the AVN
monitor while backing up. Refer to
a separately supplied manual for
detailed information.

Power outlet

The power outlet is designed to provide
power for mobile telephones or other devices designed to operate with vehi‐
cle electrical systems. The devices
should draw less than 10 amps with the engine running.
CAUTION
•Use the power outlet only whenthe engine is running and removethe accessory plug after use. Usingthe accessory plug for prolongedperiods of time with the engine offcould cause the battery to dis‐charge.
•Only use 12V electric accessorieswhich are less than 10A in electriccapacity.
•Adjust the air-conditioner or heat‐er to the lowest operating levelwhen using the power outlet.
•Close the cover when not in use.
•Some electronic devices can causeelectronic interference when plug‐ged into a vehicle’s power outlet.These devices may cause exces‐sive audio static and malfunctionsin other electronic systems or de‐vices used in your vehicle.
•Refrain from using the heater orA/C if you need to use the multi‐purpose socket. If the heater orA/C has to be used simultaneously,have it to the lowest setting.

•Some add-on electrical equipmentwill induce electromagnetic inter‐ference. This will lead to subse‐quent malfunction or hinder goodreception of the Audio/Video andelectrical system.

The êEEK/çéEêET lever has differentfunctions based on the system mode.
For the following functions the lever
should be pressed for 0.8 seconds or more.

How vehicle radio works
FM reception

AM and FM radio signals are broadcast
from transmitter towers located around your city. They are intercepted
by the radio antenna on your vehicle.
This signal is then received by the radio and sent to your vehicle speakers. When a strong radio signal has reached
your vehicle, the precise engineering of
your audio system ensures the best possible quality reproduction. However,
in some cases the signal coming to your
vehicle may not be strong and clear.
This can be due to factors such as the distance from the radio station, close‐
ness of other strong radio stations or
the presence of buildings, bridges or other large obstructions in the area.

AM (MW, LW) reception

AM broadcasts can be received at
greater distances than FM broadcasts. This is because AM radio waves are
transmitted at low frequencies. These
long, low frequency radio waves can
follow the curvature of the earth rath‐
er than travelling straight out into the
atmosphere. In addition, they curve around obstructions so that they can
provide better signal coverage.
FM radio station

FM broadcasts are transmitted at high
frequencies and do not bend to follow the earth's surface. Because of this, FM
broadcasts generally begin to fade at
short distances from the station. Also,
FM signals are easily affected by build‐
ings, mountains, or other obstructions.
These can result in certain listening conditions which might lead you to be‐
lieve a problem exists with your radio.
The following conditions are normal and do not indicate radio trouble:

• Fading - As your vehicle moves away from the radio station, the signal will
weaken and sound will begin to fade. When this occurs, we suggest that
you select another stronger station.
• Flutter/êtatic - Weak FM signals or large obstructions between the
transmitter and your radio can dis‐
turb the signal causing static or flut‐ tering noises to occur. éeducing the
treble level may lessen this effect un‐ til the disturbance clears.

• êtation êwapping - As a FM signal weakens, another more powerful sig‐
nal near the same frequency may be‐ gin to play. This is because your radio
is designed to lock onto the clearest
signal. If this occurs, select another
station with a stronger signal.
• Multi-çath Cancellation - éadio sig‐ nals being received from several di‐rections can cause distortion or flut‐
tering. This can be caused by a direct
and reflected signal from the same
station, or by signals from two sta‐
tions with close frequencies. If this occurs, select another station until
the condition has passed.
Using a cellular phone or a two-
way radio
When a cellular phone is used inside the
vehicle, noise may be produced from the audio system. This does not mean
that something is wrong with the audio
equipment. In such a case, use the cel‐ lular phone at a place as far as possible
from the audio equipment.
CAUTION
When using a communication sys‐tem such as a cellular phone or a ra‐dio set inside the vehicle, a separateexternal antenna must be fitted.When a cellular phone or a radio setis used with an internal antennaalone, it may interfere with the vehi‐cle's electrical system and adverselyaffect safe operation of the vehicle.
WARNING
Do not use a cellular phone whiledriving. Stop at a safe location to usea cellular phone.
