with a lap/shoulder belt
When not using the ISOFIX system, allChild Restraint Systems must be se‐
cured to a rear seat with the lap part of
a lap/shoulder belt.
Installing a Child Restraint System witha lap/shoulder belt
To install a Child Restraint System on
the rear seats, do the following: 1. Place the Child Restraint System on
a rear seat and route the lap/shoul‐
der belt around or through the
Child Restraint System, following
the Child Restraint System manu‐
facturer’s instructions.
Make sure the seat belt webbing is not twisted.
2. Fasten the lap/shoulder belt latch into the buckle. Listen for the dis‐
tinct L

Curtain air bag (if equipped)
Curtain air bags are located along both
sides of the roof rails above the center pillar. They are designed to help protect the
heads of the front seat occupants and
the rear outboard seat occupants in certain side impact collisions.
The curtain air bags are designed to
deploy only during certain side impact
collisions, depending on the crash se‐ verity, angle, speed and impact. The
curtain air bags are not designed to de‐
ploy in all side impact situations, colli‐ sions from the front or rear of the ve‐
hicle or in most rollover situations.

bags deploy in certain rollover sit‐
uations.
•The curtain air bag may deploy
when the rollover sensor detects
the situation as a rollover.
WARNING
•In order for side and curtain airbags to provide their best protec‐tion, front seat occupants andoutboard rear occupants should sitin an upright position with the seatbelts properly fastened. Impor‐tantly, children should sit in aproper child restraint system inthe rear seat.
•When children are seated in therear outboard seats, they must beseated in the proper child restraintsystem. Make sure to position thechild restraint system as far awayfrom the door side as possible, andsecure the child restraint systemin a locked position.
•Do not allow the passengers tolean their heads or bodies ontodoors, put their arms on thedoors, stretch their arms out ofthe window, or place objects be‐tween the doors and passengerswhen they are seated on seatsequipped with side and/or curtainair bags.

THEFT-ALARM SYSTEM (IF EQUIPPED)
Vehicles equipped with a theft alarm
system will have a label attached to the vehicle with the following words: 1. WARNING

This system is designed to provide pro‐
tection from unauthorized entry into the car. This system is operated in
three stages: the first is the "Armed"
stage, the second is the "Theft-alarm" stage, and the third is the "Disarmed"
stage. If triggered, the system provides
an audible alarm with blinking of the hazard warning lights.
Armed stage
Using the smart key
Park the vehicle and stop the engine.
Arm the system as described below. 1. Turn off the engine. 2. Make sure that all doors (and tail‐
gate) and the engine hood are
closed and latched.
3. • Lock the doors by pressing the button of the front outside door
handle with the smart key in
your possession.
After completion of the steps
above, the hazard warning lights
operate once to indicate that thesystem is armed.
If any door remains open, the
doors won't lock and the chime
will sound for 3 seconds. Close
the door and try again to lock thedoors.
If tailgate or engine hood remains
open, the hazard warning lights
won't operate and theft-alarmwill not arm. After this, if the tail‐
gate and engine hood are closed,
the hazard warning lights willblink once.

DOOR LOCKS
Operating door locks from
outside the vehicle
Mechanical key
• Turn the key toward the rear of thevehicle to lock and toward the front
of the vehicle to unlock.
• If you lock/unlock the door with a key, the doors will lock/unlock.
• If you lock/unlock the driver’s door with a key, all vehicle doors will lock/
unlock automatically. (if equipped) • From the driver’s door, turn the key
toward the rear of the vehicle once to
unlock the driver’s door and once
more within 4 seconds to unlock all doors. (if equipped)
• Once the doors are unlocked, they may be opened by pulling the door
handle.
• When closing the door, push the door by hand. Make sure that doors are
closed securely.
Transmitter/Smart key
• Doors can be locked and unlocked with the transmitter (or smart key).
(if equipped)
• Doors can be locked and unlocked pressing the button of the outside
door handle with the smart key in
your possession.
• From the driver's door, press the un‐ lock button once to unlock the driv‐
er's door and once more within 4 sec‐ onds to unlock all doors. (if equipped)
• Once the doors are unlocked, they may be opened by pulling the door
handle. • When closing the door, push the door
by hand. Make sure that doors are
closed securely.
NOTICE
•In cold and wet climates, door
locks and door mechanisms may
not work properly due to freezing
conditions.
•If the door is locked/unlocked mul‐
tiple times in rapid succession with
either the vehicle key or door lock
switch, the system may stop op‐
erating temporarily in order to
protect the circuit and prevent
damage to system components.
WARNING
•If you don't close the door secure‐ly, the door may open again.
•Be careful that someone's bodyand hands are not trapped whenclosing the door.

WARNING
If people must spend a longer time inthe vehicle while it is very hot or coldoutside, there is risk of injuries ordanger to life. Do not lock the vehiclefrom the outside when there arepeople in it.
CAUTION
Do not frequently repeat openingand closing of doors, or apply exces‐sive force to a door while the doorcloser is operating.
In case of an emergency (if
equipped)
If the power door lock switch does not
operate electrically, the only way to lock the door(s) is with the mechanical
key from the outside key hole.
Doors without the outside key hole,
you can lock the door as follows: 1. Open the door.
2. Insert the key into the emergency door lock hole and turn the key
horizontally to lock (1).
3. Close the door securely.
NOTICE
Once the tailgate is closed when the
power door lock switch does not op‐
erate electrically, you will not be
able to open the tailgate.

If the inner door handle is pulled when
the door is locked, the door will unlock and open.

TAILGATE
Opening the tailgate

• The tailgate is locked or unlockedwhen all doors are locked or unlocked
with the transmitter (or smart key)
or central door lock switch.
• If unlocked, the tailgate can be opened by pressing the handle and
pulling it up.
• When all doors are lock if the tailgate unlock button on the smart key is
pressed for more than 1 second, the tailgate is unlocked. Once the tailgate
is opened and then closed, the tail‐
gate is locked automatically.

NOTICE
In cold and wet climates, door lock
and door mechanisms may not work

WARNING
The tailgate swings upward. Makesure no objects or people are nearthe rear of the vehicle when openingthe tailgate.
CAUTION
Make certain that you close the tail‐gate before driving your vehicle.Possible damage may occur to thetailgate lift cylinders and attachedhardware if the tailgate is not closedprior to driving.
Closing the tailgate

To close the tailgate, lower and push
down the tailgate firmly. Make sure that the tailgate is securely latched.
WARNING
Make sure your hands, feet and oth‐er parts of your body are safely outof the way before closing the tail‐gate.

•If pressurized fuel sprays out, itcan cover your clothes or skin andthus subject you to the risk of fireand burns. Always remove the fuelcap carefully and slowly. If the capis venting fuel or if you hear ahissing sound, wait until the condi‐tion stops before completely re‐moving the cap.
•Do not "top off" after the nozzleautomatically shuts off when re‐fueling.
•Always check that the fuel cap isinstalled securely to prevent fuelspillage in the event of an acci‐dent.

Automotive fuels are flammable ma‐terials. When refueling, please notethe following guidelines carefully.Failure to follow these guidelinesmay result in severe personal injury,

severe burns or death by fire or ex‐plosion.•Read and follow all warnings atthe gas station facility.
•Before refueling note the locationof the Emergency Gasoline Shut-Off, if available, at the gas stationfacility.
•Before touching the fuel nozzle,you should eliminate potentiallydangerous static electricity dis‐charge by touching another metalpart of the vehicle, a safe distanceaway from the fuel filler neck,nozzle, or other gas source.

•Do not get back into a vehicle onceyou have begun refueling since youcan generate static electricity bytouching, rubbing or sliding againstany item or fabric (polyester, sat‐in, nylon, etc.) capable of produc‐ing static electricity. Static elec‐tricity discharge can ignite fuel va‐pors resulting in rapid burning. Ifyou must reenter the vehicle, youshould once again eliminate poten‐tially dangerous static electricitydischarge by touching a metal partof the vehicle, away from the fuelfiller neck, nozzle or other gasolinesource.
•When using an approved portablefuel container, be sure to place thecontainer on the ground prior torefueling. Static electricity dis‐charge from the container can ig‐nite fuel vapors causing a fire.Once refueling has begun, contactwith the vehicle should be main‐tained until the filling is complete.Use only approved portable plasticfuel containers designed to carryand store gasoline.

•Do not use cellular phones whilerefueling. Electric current and/orelectronic interference from cellu‐lar phones can potentially ignitefuel vapors causing a fire.
•When refueling, always shut theengine off. Sparks produced byelectrical components related tothe engine can ignite fuel vaporscausing a fire. Once refueling iscomplete, check to make sure thefiller cap and filler door are secure‐ly closed, before starting the en‐gine.
•DO NOT use matches or a lighterand DO NOT SMOKE or leave a litcigarette in your vehicle while at agas station especially during refu‐eling. Automotive fuel is highlyflammable and can, when ignited,result in fire.
•If a fire breaks out during refuel‐ing, leave the vicinity of the vehi‐cle, and immediately contact themanager of the gas station andthen contact the local fire depart‐ment. Follow any safety instruc‐tions they provide.
