Rear window and outside rear view mirror
defoggers
On/off
The defoggers will automatically
turn off after 15 to 60 minutes. The
operation time changes according
to the ambient temperature and
vehicle speed.
Operating conditions
The power switch must be in the ON mode.
These features are used to defog the rear window, and to remove
raindrops, dew and frost from the outside rear view mirrors.
CAUTION
When the outside rear view mirror defoggers are on
Do not touch the rear view mirror surfaces, as they can become very hot
and burn you.
NOTICE
To prevent 12-volt battery discharge
Turn the defoggers off when the hybrid system is off.

Sun visors and vanity mirrors
To set the visor in the forward
position, flip it down.
To set the visor in the side
position, flip down, unhook,
and swing it to the side.
To use the side extender, place
the visor in the side position,
then slide it backward.
Slide the cover to open.
The light turns on when the cover
is opened.

Cleaning and protecting the vehicle exterior
Working from top to bottom, liberally apply water to the vehicle
body, wheel wells and underside of the vehicle to remove any
dirt and dust.
Wash the vehicle body using a sponge or soft cloth, such as a
chamois.
For hard-to-remove marks, use car wash soap and rinse thor-
oughly with water.
Wipe away any water.
Wax the vehicle when the waterproof coating deteriorates.
If water does not bead on a clean surface, apply wax when the vehicle
body is cool.
Automatic car washes
Fold the mirrors before washing the vehicle. Start washing from the front of
the vehicle. Make sure to extend the mirrors before driving.
Brushes used in automatic car washes may scratch the vehicle surface and
harm your vehicle’s paint.
Rear spoiler (if equipped) may not be washable in some automatic car
washes. There may also be an increased risk of damage to vehicle.
High pressure car washes
Do not allow the nozzles of the car wash to come within close proximity of
the windows.
Before using the car wash, check that the fuel filler door on your vehicle is
closed properly.
Perform the following to protect the vehicle and maintain it in
prime condition:

Notes for a smart entry & start system
If the door handle becomes wet while the electronic key is within the effec-
tive range, the door may lock and unlock repeatedly. In that case, follow the
following correction procedures to wash the vehicle:
Place the key in a position 2 m (6 ft.) or more separate from the vehicle
while the vehicle is being washed. (Take care to ensure that the key is not
stolen.)
Set the electronic key to battery-saving mode to disable the smart entry &
start system. (P. 1 4 9 )
Aluminum wheels
Remove any dirt immediately by using a neutral detergent. Do not use hard
brushes or abrasive cleaners. Do not use strong or harsh chemical cleaners.
Use the same mild detergent and wax as used on the paint.
Do not use detergent on the wheels when they are hot, for example after
driving for long distance in the hot weather.
Wash detergent from the wheels immediately after use.
Bumpers
Do not scrub with abrasive cleaners.
Front side windows water-repellent coating
The following precautions can extend the effectiveness of the water-repel-
lent coating.
• Remove any dirt, etc. from the front side windows regularly.
• Do not allow dirt and dust to accumulate on the windows for a long
period.
Clean the windows with a soft, damp cloth as soon as possible.
• Do not use wax or glass cleaners that contain abrasives when cleaning
the windows.
• Do not use any metallic objects to remove condensation build up.
When the water-repellent performance has become insufficient, the coating
can be repaired. Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another
duly qualified and equipped professional.
Outside rear view mirror rain-clearing coating (if equipped)
Observe the following precautions in order to retain the rain-clearing proper-
ties of the mirrors:
Clean the mirrors using a car shampoo or glass cleaner that does not contain
silicone or an abrasive compound, and rinse thoroughly with water.
Allow the mirrors to be exposed to direct sunlight for 1 to 2 days.

Outer foot lights
Press the upper part of the
outside rear view mirror to
tilt the mirror face upward,
and apply protective tape to
the lower part of the mirror
cover.
Insert 2 flathead screw-
drivers wrapped in protec-
tive tape, and disconnect the
tabs behind the mirror.
Pry the mirror out toward you,
disconnecting the tabs 2 at a
time.
Work carefully, ensuring that
you do not drop the mirror.
Disconnect the connectors
behind the mirror, and
remove the mirror.
When removing the thin con-
nectors, make sure to mark one
of the connectors with a piece of
tape, to avoid mixing them up
when reinstalling.
Work carefully, ensuring that
you do not drop the mirror.
When handling the mirror, do
not touch the parts applied with
grease.
The number of connectors
equipped differs by vehicle
specification.
