When trouble arises

■Warning message in radar cruise mode (if equipped)
In the following cases, the warning message may not be displayed even if vehicle-to-vehi-
cle distance decreases:
●When your vehicle and the vehicle ahead are traveling at the same speed or the vehicle
ahead is traveling more quickly than your vehicle
●When the vehicle ahead is traveling at a very low speed
●Immediately after cruise control speed is set
●At the instant the accelerator pedal is depressed
■Open door warning message
The open door warning message continues to display until a door or the trunk is fully
closed, even if the power switch is turned off. However, approximately 20 minutes after a
door or the trunk is not fully closed, the 12-volt battery-saving function operates and the
display turns off even though a door or the trunk is not fully closed.
■Warning buzzer
In some cases, the buzzer may not be heard because of noisy place or an audio sound.

→Turn the power switch off or
bring the electronic key back
into the vehicle.

An attempt was made to lock the
doors using the smart entry & start
system while the electronic key was
still inside the vehicle.
→Retrieve the electronic key
from the vehicle and lock the
doors again.

front door by opening a door and
putting the inside lock button into
the lock position, then closing the
door by pulling on the outside door
handle with the electronic key still
inside the vehicle.
For some models only: An attempt
was made to lock the doors other
than using the smart entry & start

still inside the vehicle.
→Retrieve the electronic key
from the vehicle and lock the
doors again.

• When the doors were unlocked
with the mechanical key and then
the power switch was pressed, the
electronic key could not be
detected in the vehicle.
• The electronic key could not be
detected in the vehicle even after
the power switch was pressed two
consecutive times.
→ Touch the electronic key to the
power switch while depressing
the brake pedal.

An attempt was made to start the
hybrid system with the shift lever in
an incorrect position.
→Shift the shift lever to P and start
the hybrid system.

When trouble arises

Power was turned off due to the
automatic power off function.
→Next time when starting the
hybrid system, operate the
hybrid system for approximately
5 minutes to recharge the 12-
volt battery.
OnceThe electronic key has a low battery.
→Replace the electronic key bat-

Once
The driver’s door was opened and
closed with the power switch turned
off and then the power switch was
put in ACCESSORY mode twice
without the hybrid system being
started.
→ Press the power switch while
depressing the brake pedal.
During an hybrid system starting
procedure in the event that the elec-
tronic key was not functioning prop-
erly ( →P. 5 4 9 ) , t h e p o w e r s w i t c h
was touched with the electronic key.
→ Press the power switch within 10
seconds of the buzzer sounding.
Once
The steering lock could not be
released within 3 seconds of the
power switch being pressed.
→Press the power switch while
depressing the brake pedal and
moving the steering wheel left
and right.

If you have a flat tire (vehicles with spare tire)
●Stop the vehicle on a hard, flat surface.
●Set the parking brake.
●Shift the shift lever to P.
●Stop the hybrid system.
●Turn on the emergency flashers. (

Your vehicle is equipped with a spare tire. The flat tire can be replaced with
the spare tire.

■If you have a flat tire
Do not continue driving with a flat tire.
Driving even a short distance with a flat tire can damage the tire and the wheel beyond
repair, which could result in an accident.

■Using the tire jack
Observe the following precautions.
Improper use of the tire jack may cause the vehicle to suddenly fall off the jack, leading
to death or serious injury.
●Do not use the tire jack for any purpose other than replacing tires or installing and
removing tire chains.
●Only use the tire jack that comes with this vehicle for replacing a flat tire.
Do not use it on other vehicles, and do not use other tire jacks for replacing tires on
this vehicle.
●Put the jack properly in its jack point.
●Do not put any part of your body under the vehicle while it is supported by the jack.
●Do not start the hybrid system or drive the vehicle while the vehicle is supported by
the jack.
●Do not raise the vehicle while someone is inside.
●When raising the vehicle, do not put an object on or under the jack.
●Do not raise the vehicle to a height greater than that required to replace the tire.
●Use a jack stand if it is necessary to get under the vehicle.
●When lowering the vehicle, make sure that there is no-one near the vehicle. If there
are people nearby, warn them vocally before lowering.

Remove the spacer and take out the
jack handle from the reverse side of
the center luggage mat.
Take out the jack. For tightening

Loosen the center fastener that
