The main SRS airbag system and Pop Up Hood components are shown above.
The SRS airbag system and Pop Up Hood are controlled by the airbag sensor
assembly. As the airbags deploy, a chemical reaction in the inflators quickly fills
the airbags with non-toxic gas to help restrain the motion of the occupants.
When the Pop Up Hood is activated, a non-toxic gas is released due to a chemi-
cal reaction in the lifters, which causes the pistons to eject quickly and raise the
rear portion of the hood. (Pop Up Hood: P. 53)

started, or after a few seconds. There may be a malfunction in a system if a light does
not come on, or turn off. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus retailer
or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.

*4: In order to confirm operation, the BSM outside rear view mirror indicators illuminate in the following situations:
• When the engine switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode while the BSM main switch is set to ON.
• When the BSM main switch is set to ON while the engine switch is in IGNITION
ON mode.
If the system is functioning correctly, the BSM outside rear view mirror indicators will
turn off after a few seconds.
If the BSM outside rear view mirror indicators do not illuminate or do not turn off,
there may be a malfunction in the system.
If this occurs, have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus
authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.

The brightness of the instrument panel lights can be adjusted.Darker
Brighter
■The meters and display illuminate when
The engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode.
■Instrument panel brightness adjustment
The instrument panel brightness levels when th e tail lights are on and off can be adjusted
individually. However, when the surroundings ar e bright (daytime, etc.), turning on the tail
lights will not change the in strument panel brightness.
■Outside temperature display
In the following situations, the correct outside temperature may not be displayed, or the
display may take longer than normal to change.
●When stopped, or driving at low sp eeds (less than 20 km/h [12 mph])
●When the outside temperature has changed suddenly (at the entrance/exit of a garage,
tunnel, etc.)
■Pop-up display
●In some situations, such as when a switch operation is performed, a pop-up display will
be temporarily displayed on the multi-information display or the odometer/trip meter
screen (F SPORT models).
●Some pop-up displays can be set on/off. ( P. 107)
■Customization
The meter display can be customized on the multi-information display. (P. 107)

NOTICE
■To prevent damage to the engine and its components
●Do not let the indicator needle of the tachometer enter the red zone, which indicates
the maximum engine speed.
●The engine may be overheating if the engine coolant temperature gauge is in the red
zone (H). In this case, immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place, and check the
engine after it has cooled completely. ( P. 622)

Operation of each component

■Operation signals
The emergency flashers flash to indicate that the doors have been locked/unlocked.
(Locked: once; Unlocked: twice)
A buzzer sounds to indicate that the windows and moon ro of are operating.
■Security feature
If a door is not opened within approximately 30 seconds after the vehicle is unlocked, the
security feature automatically locks the vehicle again.
■Welcome light illumination control
The front position, tail and license plate lights automatically turn on at night when the
doors are unlocked using the entry function or wireless remote control if the light switch
is in the “AUTO” position.
■When the door cannot be locked by the lock sensor on the upper part of the door han-
dle (vehicles with entry function)
■Door lock buzzer
If an attempt to lock the doors is made when a door is not fully closed, a buzzer sounds
continuously for 5 seconds. Fully close the door to stop the buzzer, and lock the vehicle
once more.
■Setting the alarm (if equipped)
Locking the doors will set the alarm system. ( P. 81)
■If the smart entry & start system or the wire less remote control does not operate prop-
erly
Use the mechanical key to lock and unlock the doors. ( P. 615)
Replace the key battery with a new one if it is depleted. ( P. 527)
If the door will not lock even when the topside
sensor area is touched, try touching both the
topside and underside sensor areas at the same
time.
