Fluid leaks• There should not be any signs of fluid leakage after
the vehicle has been parked.

• Is the tire inflation pressure correct?
• The tires should not be damaged or excessively worn.
• Have the tires been rotated according to the mainte- nance schedule?
• The wheel nuts should not be loose.
Windshield wipers
• The wiper blades should no t show any signs of crack-
ing, splitting, wear, contamination or deformation.
• The wiper blades should clear the windshield without
streaking or skipping.
CAUTION
â– If the engine is running
Turn the engine off and ensure that there is adequate ventilation before performing
maintenance checks.

â– Rear turn signal lightsOpen the trunk, and remove the
2 covers and 2 screws.
When removing the cover, wrap the
tip of the screwdriver with tape to
protect the vehicle from damage.
Push and pull the light unit toward
the rear of the vehicle as shown in
the illustration to remove it.
Apply protective tape to the periph-
eral of the light un it installation sur-
face on the vehicle body, such as the
rear bumper, to protect the vehicle
from damage.
Pushing on the portion A in the illus-
tration toward the rear of the vehicle
will make disengagement of the tabs
easier.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Remove the light bulb.

â– Back-up lightOpen the trunk, remove the 3
clips on the side which the bulb is
to be replaced and pull back the
trunk lid cover.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Remove the light bulb.
Pull out the connector carefully,
ensuring that excessive pulling load is
not applied to the wire harness.
Install a new light bulb then install
the bulb base to the light unit by
inserting it and turning the bulb
base clockwise.
After installing the light bulb, turn on
the back-up light to visually check
that there is no li ght leaking from the
bulb base.
Reinstall the trunk lid cover with the 3 clips.
To install the clips, simply push them in.

Electric power steering system warning lightIndicates a malfunction in the EP S (Electric Power Steering) sys-
tem
ï‚® Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.

Pre-collision system warning light Indicates a malfunction in the PCS (Pre-Collision System)
The warning light will operate as follows, even when the system is
not malfunctioning:
• The light will flash quickly when the system is operating.

• The light will turn on when the pre-collision system is disabled.
( ï‚® P. 2 4 7 )
• The light will turn on when th e VSC (Vehicle Stability Control)
system is disabled. ( ï‚®P. 2 4 2 )
• The light will flash when the system cannot temporarily be used.

ï‚® Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
Slip indicator
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) system;
• The TRAC (Traction Control) system; or
• The hill-start assist control system
The light will flash when the VSC or the TRAC system is operating.

Automatic headlight leveling system warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the au tomatic headlight leveling system

Open door warning light (warning buzzer)*2
Indicates that a door or the trunk is not fully closed
ï‚® Check that all the doors and the trunk are closed.
Low fuel level warning light
Indicates that remaining fuel is approximately 2.6 gal. (10 L, 2.2
Imp. gal.) or less
ï‚® Refuel the vehicle.
Seat belt reminder light (warning buzzer)*3
Warns the driver and/or front passenger to fasten their seat belts
ï‚® Fasten the seat belt.
If the front passenger’s seat is occupied, the front passenger’s
seat belt also needs to be fa stened to make the warning light
(warning buzzer) turn off.
Master warning light A buzzer sounds and the warning light comes on and flashes to
indicate that the master warning system has detected a malfunc-
tion.

The system also indicates which doors are not fully
closed.
If the vehicle reaches a speed of 3 mph (5 km/h),
flashes and a buzzer sounds to indicate
that the door(s) are not yet fully closed.
ï‚® Make sure that all the doors are closed.
Indicates that the hood is not fully closed
If the vehicle reaches a speed of 3 mph (5 km/h),
flashes and a buzzer sounds to indicate
that the hood is not yet fully closed.
ï‚® Close the hood.
Indicates that the trunk is not fully closed
If the vehicle reaches a speed of 3 mph (5 km/h),
flashes and a buzzer sounds to indicate
that the trunk is not yet fully closed.

Indicates a malfunction in the intuitive parking assist-sen-
sor The assist-sensors flash.

Remove the luggage mat.
Remove the spacer and tool tray.
Loosen the center fastener that
secures the spare tire.
If the center fastener cannot be turned
by hand, use the wheel nut wrench that
is stored in the trunk. (To secure the tire,
tighten the center fastener by hand. Do
not use the wrench or other tools.)

Use the mechanical key (ï‚®P. 99) in
order to perform the following oper-
ations:
Locks all the doors
Closes the windows and moon
roof (turn and hold)

Unlocks the door
Turning the key rearward unlocks the
driver’s door. Turning the key once
again within 5 seconds unlocks the
other doors.
Opens the windows and moon roof (turn and hold)*

Turn the mechanical key clockwise
to open.
If the electronic key does not operate properly
If communication between the electronic key and vehicle is interrupted ( ï‚®P.
116) or the electronic key cannot be used because the battery is depleted, the
smart access system with push-button start and wireless remote control can-
not be used. In such cases, the doors and trunk can be opened and the engine
can be started by following the procedure below.
