Maintenance and care
Light bulbs
Due to their positioning, the light bulbs may be difficult to replace.
If a light bulb needs replacin g, contact your Lexus dealer.

■Discharge headlights
If voltage to the discharge bulbs is insufficient, the bulbs may not come on, or may
go out temporarily. The discharge bulbs will come on when normal power is
restored.
■LED light bulbs
The following lights consist of a number of LEDs. If any of the LEDs burn out, take
your vehicle to your Lexus dealer to have the light replaced:
●Parking lights
●Stop/tail lights
●High mounted stoplight
■Condensation build-up on the inside of the lens
Contact your Lexus dealer for more information in the following situations. Tempo-
rary condensation build-up on the inside of the headlight lens does not indicate a
malfunction.
●Large drops of water are built up on the inside of the lens.
●Water has built up inside the headlight.
CAUTION
■Handling lights and bulbs
●Do not touch the lights or bulbs while they are on or immediately after they have
been turned off. Doing so may result in burns.
●Do not touch the glass portion of the light bulb with bare hands. Hold the bulb by
the plastic or metal portion.
If the bulb is scratched or dropped it may blow out or crack.
■Discharge headlights
●Do not touch the high-intensity discharge headlight’s high voltage socket when
the headlights are turned on.
An extremely high voltage of 30000 V wi ll be discharged and could result in
serious injury or death by electric shock.
●Do not attempt to take apart or repair the discharge headlight bulbs, connectors,
power supply circuits, or related components.
Doing so could result in electric shock and serious injury or death.

Emergency flashers
Use the emergency flashers if the vehicle malfunctions or is involved in an
accident.
Press the switch to flash all the turn
signal lights. To turn them off, press
the switch once again.
NOTICE
■To prevent battery discharge
Do not leave the emergency flashers on longer than necessary when the engine is
not running.

If a warning light turns on or a warning buzzer sounds...
Calmly perform the following actions if any of the warning lights comes on or
flashes. If a light comes on or flashes, but then goes off, this does not necessar-
ily indicate a malfunction in the system. However, if this continues to occur,
have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
Stop the vehicle immediately. Continuing to drive the vehicle may be dangerous.
The following warning indicates a possible problem in the brake system.
Immediately stop the vehi cle in a safe place and contact your Lexus
dealer.

Stop the vehicle immediately.The following warnings indicate the possibility of damage to the vehicle
that may lead to an ac cident. Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place
and contact your Lexus dealer.

Failing to investigate the cause of the following warnings may lead to the
system operating abnormally and possibly cause an accident. Have the

The driver’s and passenger’s seat belt reminders sound to alert the driver and
passenger that their seat belt is not fa stened. The buzzer sounds intermittently
for 10 seconds after the vehicle has reached a speed of 12 mph (20 km/h).
Then, if the seat belt is still unfastened , the buzzer will sound in a different tone
for 20 more seconds. Tire pressure warning light
When the light comes on:
Low tire inflation pressure
Adjust the tire inflation pres-
sure to the specified level. The
light will turn off after a few
minutes. In case the light does
not turn off even if the tire infla-
tion pressure is adjusted, have
the vehicle checked by your
Lexus dealer.
When the light comes on after
blinking for 1 minute:
Malfunction in the tire pres-
sure warning system Have the system checked by

■If the malfunction indicator lamp comes on while driving
First check the following:
●Is the fuel tank empty?
If it is, fill the fuel tank immediately.
●Is the fuel tank cap loose?
If it is, tighten it securely.
The light will go off after taking several driving trips.
If the light does not go off even after several trips, contact your Lexus dealer as soon
as possible.
■Electric power steering system warning light
When the battery is low or when the voltage drops temporarily, the electric power
steering system warnin g light may come on.
■Passenger detection sensor and passenger seat belt reminder
●If luggage is placed on the passenger seat, the passenger detection sensor may
cause the warning light to flash even if a passenger is not sitting in the seat.
●If a cushion is placed on the seat, the sensor may not detect a passenger, and the
warning light may not operate properly.
■When the tire pressure warning light comes on
Check the tire inflation pressure and adjust to the appropriate level. Pushing the tire
pressure warning reset switch will not turn off the tire pressure warning light. After
the tire inflation pressure is adjusted, it may take a few minutes for the tire pressure
warning light to go off.
■The tire pressure warning light may come on due to natural causes
The tire pressure warning light may come on due to natural causes such as natural
air leaks or tire inflation pressure changes caused by temperature. In this case,
adjusting the tire inflation pressure will turn off the warning light (after a few min-
utes).
