Operation of each component

■To stop the position recall operation part-way through
Perform any of the following:
●Press the “SET” button.
●Press button “1”, “2” or “3”.
●Operate any of the seat adjustment switches (only cancels seat position recall).
●Operate the tilt and telescopic steering control switch (only cancels steering wheel position recall).
■Seat positions that can be memorized ( P. 209)
The adjusted positions other than the position adjusted by lumbar support switch can be recorded.
■Operating the driving position memory after turning the engine switch off
Recorded seat positions can be activated up to 180 seconds after the driver's door is opened and another 60 seconds after it is closed again.
■In order to correctly use the driving position memory function
If a seat position is already in the furthest possible position and the seat is operated in the same direction, the recorded position may be slightly different when it is recalled.
Each electronic key (including a card key) can be registered to recall your pre-
ferred driving position.
■Registering procedure
Record your driving position to button “1”, “2” or “3” before performing the
following:
Carry only the key you want to register, and then close the driver’s door.
If 2 or more keys are in the vehicle, the driving position cannot be recorded
properly.
Check that the shift lever is in P.
Turn the engine switch to IGNITION ON mode.
Recall the driving position that you want to record.
While pressing the recalled but-
ton, press and hold the door lock
switch (either lock or unlock) until
the buzzer sounds.
If the button could not be registered,
the buzzer sounds continuously for approximately 3 seconds.

■Recall procedure
Carry the electronic key that has been registered to the driving position,
and then unlock and open the driver’s door using the smart entry & start
system or wireless remote control.
The driving position will move to the recorded position (not including the steering wheel).
If the driving position is in a position that has already been recorded, the seat and
outside rear view mirrors will not move.
Turn the engine switch to ACCESSORY mode or IGNITION ON mode.
The steering wheel will move to the recorded position.
■Cancelation procedure
Carry only the key you want to cancel and then close the driver’s door.
If 2 or more keys are in the vehicle, the driving position cannot be canceled
properly.
Turn the engine switch to IGNITION ON mode.
While pressing the “SET” button, press and hold the door lock switch
(either lock or unlock) until the buzzer sounds twice.
If the button could not be canceled, the buzzer sounds continuously for approxi-
mately 3 seconds.
■Recalling the driving position us ing the memory recall function
●Different driving positions can be registered for each electronic key. Therefore, the driving position that is recalled may be different depending on the key being carried.
●If a door other than the driver’s door is unlocked with the smart entry & start system, the
driving position cannot be reca lled. In this case, press the driving position button which has been set.
■Customization
The unlock door settings of the memory recall function can be changed. (Customizable features: P. 685)
WARNING
■Seat adjustment caution
Take care during seat adjustment so that the seat does not strike the rear passenger or
squeeze your body against the steering wheel.

■Door lock linked window operation
●The power windows can be opened and closed using the mechanical key.* ( P. 651)
●The power windows can be opened and closed using the wireless remote control.*(P. 164)
*: These settings must be customized at any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional.
■When the battery is disconnected
The window lock switch is disabled. If nece ssary, press the window lock switch after reconnecting the battery.
■Power windows open warning buzzer
The buzzer sounds and a message is shown on the multi-information display in the instru- ment cluster when the engine switch is turned off and the driver’s door is opened with the power windows open.
■Customization
Settings (e.g. linked door lock operation) can be changed. (Customizable features: P. 685)

WARNING
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
■Closing the windows
●The driver is responsible for all the power window operations, including the operation for the passengers. In order to prevent acci dental operation, especially by a child, do not let a child operate the power windows. It is possible for children and other passen-
gers to have body parts caught in the power window. Also, when riding with a child, it is recommended to use the window lock switch. ( P. 227)
●Check to make sure that all passengers do not have any part of their body in a posi-
tion where it could be caught wh en a window is being operated.
●When using the wireless remote control or mechanical key and operating the power windows, operate the power window after checking to make sure that there is no pos-
sibility of any passenger having any of thei r body parts caught in the window. Also do not let a child operate window by the wireless remote control or mechanical key. It ispossible for children and other passengers to get caught in the power window.
●When exiting the vehicle, turn the engine switch off, carry the key and exit the vehiclealong with the child. There may be accidental operation, due to mischief, etc., thatmay possibly lead to an accident.
■Jam protection function
●Never use any part of your body to intent ionally activate the jam protection function.
●The jam protection function may not work if something gets jammed just before the
window is fully closed. Be careful not to ge t any part of your body jammed in the win- dow.
■Catch protection function
●Never use any part of your body or clothing to intentionally activate the catch protec-tion function.
●The catch protection function may not work if something gets caught just before the
window is fully opened. Be careful not to get any part of your body or clothing caught in the window.

■The moon roof can be operated when
The engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode.
■Operating the moon roof after turning the engine off
The moon roof can be operated for approximately 45 seconds after the engine switch is
turned to ACCESSORY mode or turned off. It cannot, however, be operated once either door is opened.
■Jam protection function
If an object is detected between the moon roof and the frame while the moon roof is clos- ing or tilting down, travel is sto pped and the moon roof opens slightly.
■Sunshade
The sunshade can be opened and closed manually. However, the sunshade will open automatically when the moon roof is opened.
■Door lock linked moon roof operation
●The moon roof can be opened and closed using the mechanical key.* ( P. 651)
●The moon roof can be opened and closed using the wireless remote control.* ( P. 164)
*: These settings must be customized at any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional.
■If the moon roof does not close normally
Perform the following procedure:
Stop the vehicle.
Press and hold th e “CLOSE” switch.*The moon roof will close, reopen and pause for approximately 10 seconds. Then it will close again and stop at the completely closed position.
Check to make sure that the moon roof is completely closed and then release the switch.
*: If the switch is released at the incorrect time, the procedure will have to be performed
again from the beginning.
If the moon roof does not fully close even after performing the above procedure cor-
rectly, have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.

WARNING

any passenger having any of their body part s caught in the moon roof. Also, do not let a child operate moon roof by the wireless remo te control or mechanical key. It is pos- sible for children and other passengers to get caught in the moon roof.
●When exiting the vehicle, turn the engine switch off, carry the key and exit the vehiclealong with the child. There may be accidental operation, due to mischief, etc., thatmay possibly lead to an accident.
■Jam protection function
●Never use any part of your body to intent ionally activate the jam protection function.
●The jam protection function may not work if something gets caught just before the
moon roof is fully closed. Also, the jam protection function is not designed to operate while the moon roof switch is be ing pressed. Take care so that your fingers, etc. do not get caught.
NOTICE
■To prevent damage to the moon roof
●Before opening, make sure that there are no foreign objects such as stones or ice around the opening.
●Do not hit the face or edge of the moon roof with hard objects.
■Operating the moon roof
There is the possibility that water or rain will get into the vehicle if you operate the moon roof after a rainfall, snowfall or car wash. Wipe the moon roof dry with a cloth
before operating it.

With the brake pedal depressed, shift the shift lever to D. (P. 253)
Release the parking brake. ( P. 261)
Gradually release the brake pedal and gently depress the accelerator pedal
to accelerate the vehicle.
With the shift lever in D, depress the brake pedal.
Vehicles with a Stop & Start system: If the Stop & Start system is enabled, depressing the brake pedal will stop the engine.
If necessary, set the parking brake.
If the vehicle is to be stopped for an extended period of time, shift the shift lever to P or
N. ( P. 253)
With the shift lever in D, depress the brake pedal.
Set the parking brake ( P. 261), and shift the shift lever to P (P. 253).
Press the engine switch to stop the engine.
Lock the door, making sure that you ha ve the electronic key on your person.
If parking on a hill, block the wheels as needed.
Make sure that the parking brake is set and shift the shift lever to D.
Gently depress the accelerator pedal.
Release the parking brake.

Check that the parking brake is set.
Check that the shift lever is in P.
Firmly depress the brake pedal.
and a message will be displayed on the multi-information display.
If it is not displayed, the engine cannot be started.
Press the engine switch shortly and
firmly.
When operating the engine switch, one short, firm press is enough.
It is not necessary to press and hold the switch.
The engine will crank un til it starts or for
up to 30 seconds, whichever is less.
Continue depressing the brake pedal until the engine is completely started.
The engine can be started from any engine switch mode.
Stop the vehicle.
Set the parking brake ( P. 261), and shift the shift lever to P.
Press the engine switch.
Release the brake pedal and check that the display on the meters is off.
Engine (ignition) switch
Performing the following operations when carrying the electronic key on your
person starts the engine or changes engine switch modes.

■Auto power off function
If the vehicle is left in ACCESSORY mode for more than 20 minutes or IGNITION ON mode (the engine is not running) for more than an hour with the shift lever in P, the engineswitch will automatically turn off. However, this function cannot entirely prevent battery
discharge. Do not leave the vehicle with the engine switch in ACCESSORY or IGNI- TION ON mode for long periods of time when the engine is not running.

■If the engine does not start
●Check that the shift lever is securely set in P. The engine may not start if the shift lever is displaced out of P.
●The engine immobilizer system may not have been deactivated. ( P. 92)
Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
■Steering lock
After turning the engine switch off and opening and closing the doors, the steering wheel will be locked due to the steering lock functi on. Operating the engine switch again auto- matically cancels the steering lock.
■When the steering lock cannot be released
■Steering lock motor overheating prevention
To prevent the steering lock motor from over heating, operation of the motor may be sus- pended if the engine is turned on and off repeat edly in a short period of time. In this case,
refrain from operating the engine switch. After about 10 seconds, the steering lock motor will resume functioning.
“Steering Lock active” will be displayed on the
multi-information display.
Check that the shift lever is in P. Press the engine switch while turning the steering wheel
left and right.

■When “Check Entry & Start System” is displayed on the multi-information display
The system may be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qua lified and equipped professional immediately.
■If the electronic key battery is depleted

■Operation of the engine switch
●If the switch is not pressed shortly and firmly, the engine switch mode may not change or the engine may not start.
●If attempting to restart the engine immediately after turning the engine switch off, the
engine may not start in some cases. After turning the engine switch off, please wait a few seconds before restarting the engine.
■If the smart entry & start system has been deactivated by a customized setting

WARNING
■When starting the engine
Always start the engine while sitting in the driver’s seat. Do not depress the accelerator pedal while starting the engine under any circumstances.
Doing so may cause an accident resu lting in death or serious injury.
■Caution while driving
If engine failure occurs while the vehicle is moving, do not lock or open the doors until
the vehicle reaches a safe and complete stop. Activation of the steering lock in this cir- cumstance may lead to an accident, resulting in death or serious injury.
■Stopping the engine in an emergency
If you want to stop the engine in an emer gency while driving the vehicle, press and hold the engine switch for more than 2 seconds, or press it briefly 3 times or more in succes- sion. ( P. 581)
However, do not touch the engine switch while driving except in an emergency. Turning the engine off while driving will not cause loss of steering or braking control, but the power assist to these systems will be lost. Th is will make it more difficult to steer and
brake, so you should pull over and stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.
