Operation of each component
RX450h_U_OM0E013U3-4. Adjusting the steering wheel and mirrors
Operating the switch moves the steering wheel in the following directions:
Up
Down
Toward the driver
Away from the driver
When the power switch is turned off,
the steering wheel returns to its stowed
position by moving up and away to
enable easier driv er entry and exit.
Turning the power switch to ACCES-
SORY or ON mode will return the
steering wheel to the original position.
To sound the horn, press on or close to
the mark.

■The steering wheel can be adjusted when
The power switch is in ACCESSORY or ON mode

*: If the driver’s seat belt is fastened, the steering wheel can be adjusted regardless of power switch mode.
■Automatic adjustment of the steering position
A desired steering position ca n be entered to memory and recalled automatically by the
driving position memory system. ( P. 174)
■Power easy access system
The steering wheel and driver’s seat move in accordance with power switch mode and
the driver’s seat belt condition. ( P. 174)
■Customization
Some functions can be customized. ( P. 607)
WARNING
Do not adjust the steeri ng wheel while driving.
Doing so may cause the driver to mishandle the vehicle and cause an accident, result-
ing in death or serious injury.

The height of the rear view mirror can be adjusted to suit your driving posture.
Adjust the height of the rear view mir-
ror by moving it up and down.
Responding to the level of brightness of the headlights of vehicles behind, the
reflected light is automatically reduced.
Changing automatic anti-glare func-
tion mode
ON/OFF
When the automatic anti-glare function
is in ON mode, the indicator illuminates.
The function will set to ON mode each
time the power switch is turned to ON
mode.
Pressing the button turns the function to
OFF mode. (The indicator also turns
off.)
Inside rear view mirror
The rear view mirror’s position can be adjusted to enable sufficient confirma-
tion of the rear view.

■To prevent sensor error
To ensure that the sensors operate properly, do
not touch or cover them.
WARNING
Do not adjust the position of the mirror while driving.
Doing so may lead to mishandling of the vehicle and cause an accident, resulting in
death or serious injury.

■Using the switch
Press the switch to fold the mirrors.
Press it again to extend them to the
original position.
■Setting automatic mode
Automatic mode allows the folding or ex tending of the mirrors to be linked to
locking/unlocking of the doors.
Press the “AUTO” switch to set auto-
matic mode.
The indicator will come on.
Pressing the switch once more will
return to manual mode.

When the mirror select switch is in the “L” or “R” position, the outside rear view
mirrors will automatically angle downwa rds when the vehicle is reversing in
order to give a better view of the ground.
To disable this function, select neither “L” nor “R” of the mirror select switch.
■Adjusting the mirror angle when the vehicle is reversing
With the shift lever in R, adjust the mirror angle at a desired position.
The adjusted angle will be memorized and the mirror will automatically tilt to
the memorized angle whenever the shift lever is shifted to R from next t\
ime.
The memorized downward tilt position of th e mirror is linked to the normal position
(angle adjusted with the shif t lever in other than R). Ther efore, if the normal posi-
tion is changed after adjustment, the tilt position will also change.
When the normal position is chang ed, readjust the angle in reversing.
■Mirror angle can be adjusted when
The power switch is in ACCESSORY or ON mode.
■When disconnecting and reconnect ing 12-volt battery terminals
The automatic folding/extending mirror function will return to off as default. To turn the
function on, press the switch again to select on.
■When the mirrors are fogged up
The outside rear view mirrors can be cleare d using the mirror defoggers. Turn on the
rear window defogger to turn on the outside rear view mirror defoggers. ( P. 409)
■Automatic adjustment of the mirror angle
A desired mirror face angle can be entered to memory and recalled automatically by the
driving position memory. ( P. 174)
■Auto anti-glare function
When the anti-glare inside re ar view mirror is set to automatic mode, the outside rear
view mirrors will activate in conjunction with the anti-glare inside rear view mirror to
reduce reflected light. ( P. 183)
■Using automatic mode in cold weather
When automatic mode is used in cold weather, the door mirror could freeze up and
automatic stowing and return may not be possible. In this case, remove any ice and snow
from the door mirror, then either operate th e mirror using manual mode or move the mir-
ror by hand.

■Important points while driving
Observe the following precautions while driving.
Failing to do so may result in loss of control of the vehicle and cause an accident, result-
ing in death or serious injury.
●Do not adjust the mirrors while driving.
●Do not drive with the mirrors folded.
●Both the driver and passenger side mirrors must be extended and properly adjusted
before driving.
■When a mirror is moving
To avoid personal injury and mirror malfunctio n, be careful not to get your hand caught
by the moving mirror.
■When the mirror defoggers are operating
Do not touch the rear view mirror surfaces, as they can become very hot and burn you.

■The power windows can be operated when
The power switch is in ON mode.
■Operating the power windows after turning the hybrid system off
The power windows can be operated for ap proximately 45 seconds even after the
power switch is turned to ACCESSORY mode or turned off. They cannot, however, be
operated once either front door is opened.
■Jam protection function
If an object becomes caught between the wi ndow and the window frame, window travel
is stopped and the window is opened slightly.
■Pinch protection function
While the window is opening, if an object is caught between the door and window, win-
dow travel is stopped.
■If the power window does not close or open normally
If the jam protection function or pinch protection function is malfunctioning and a win-
dow cannot be closed or open ed completely, perform the following operations using the
power window switch of the relevant door:
●When not closing normally
With the vehicle stopped and the power switch in ON mode, within 4 seconds of the
jam protection function operating, pull and hold the power window switch in the one-
touch closing position. When the window is closed completely, release the switch.
●When not opening normally
With the vehicle stopped and the power switch in ON mode, within 4 seconds of the
pinch protection function operating, press and hold the power window switch in the
one-touch opening position. When the wind ow is opened completely, release the
switch.
If the window still cannot be closed or opened completely even though the above opera-
tions have been carried out, perform the following initialization procedure.
Turn the power switch to ON mode.
Pull and hold the power window switch in the one-touch closing position.
When the window is closed completely, release the power window switch. Pull and
hold the switch in the one-touch closing position again for approximately 4 seconds.
Press and hold the power window switch in the one-touch opening position. Continue
pressing the switch for 1 second after the window has opened completely.
Pull and hold the power window switch in the one-touch closing position. Continue
pulling the switch for 1 second after the window has closed.
If you release the switch while the window is moving, perform the procedure again from
the beginning.
If, after performing the abov e procedure correctly, the window continues to close but
then re-open slightly or open but then clos e again slightly, have the vehicle inspected by
your Lexus dealer.
