lubricants, fluids and service parts
conforming to specifications.

Precautions
• Do not work on a hot engine.
• Make sure that nothing gets caught in moving parts. • Do not work on a vehicle with the
engine running in an enclosed
space, unless you are sure you
have enough ventilation.
• Keep all open flames and other burning material (such as
cigarettes) away from the battery
and all fuel related parts.
Working with the Engine Off
1. Set the parking brake and shift toP (Park).
2. Turn off the engine and remove the key (if equipped).
3. Block the wheels.

WARNING
To reduce the risk of vehicle
damage and/or personal burn
injuries, do not start your engine with
the air cleaner removed and do not
remove it while the engine is running.
1. Set the parking brake and shift to P (Park).

CLEANING THE EXTERIOR
Wash your vehicle regularly with cool
or lukewarm water and a neutral pH
shampoo, such as Motorcraft® Detail
Wash.
• Never use strong household
detergents or soap, such as dish
washing or laundry liquid. These
products can discolor and spot
painted surfaces.
• Never wash a vehicle that is “hot to the touch” or during exposure
to strong, direct sunlight.
• Dry your vehicle with a chamois or soft terry cloth towel in order to
eliminate water spotting.
• Immediately remove items such as gasoline, diesel fuel, bird
droppings and insect deposits
because they can cause damage
to your vehicle’s paintwork and
trim over time. Use Motorcraft Bug
and Tar Remover.
• Remove any exterior accessories, such as antennas, before entering
a car wash.
Note: Suntan lotions and insect
repellents can damage any painted
surface; if these substances come in
contact with your vehicle, wash off as
soon as possible.

Stripes or Graphics (if
equipped)
Do not use a commercial or
high-pressure wand on the surface or
edge of stripes and graphics. This can
cause damage to the film and cause
the edge of the film to peel away from
the vehicle surface.
Exterior Chrome
Note:Never use abrasive materials
such as steel wool or plastic pads as
they can scratch the chrome surface.
Note: Do not use chrome cleaner,
metal cleaner or polish on wheels and
wheel covers
• Wash your vehicle first, using cool or lukewarm water and a neutral
pH shampoo, such as Motorcraft
Detail Wash.
• Use Motorcraft Custom Bright Metal Cleaner. Apply the product
as you would a wax to clean
bumpers and other chrome parts;
allow the cleaner to dry for a few
minutes, then wipe off the haze
with a clean, dry rag.
• Do not apply cleaning product to hot surfaces and do not leave
cleaning product on chrome
surfaces for a period of time
exceeding that which is
recommended.
• Using other non-recommended cleaners can result in severe and
permanent cosmetic damage.
Underbody
Flush the complete underside of your
vehicle frequently. Keep body and
door drain holes free from packed dirt.
Cleaning Plastic Exterior Parts
Use only approved products to clean
plastic parts
• For routine cleaning, useMotorcraft Detail Wash.
• If tar or grease spots are present, use Motorcraft Bug and Tar
Remover.
REPAIRING MINOR PAINT
DAMAGE
Your authorized dealer has touch-up
paint to match your vehicle’s color.
Take your color code (printed on a
sticker in the driver’s door jamb) to
your authorized dealer to ensure you
get the correct color.
• Remove particles such as birddroppings, tree sap, insect
deposits, tar spots, road salt and
industrial fallout before repairing
paint chips.
• Always read the instructions before using the products.
WAXING
Regular waxing is necessary to protect
your car's paint from the elements.
We recommend that you wash and
wax the painted surface once or twice
a year.

CLEANING THE
INSTRUMENT PANEL AND
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
LENS
WARNING
Do not use chemical solvents or
strong detergents when cleaning
the steering wheel or instrument panel
to avoid contamination of the airbag
system.
Clean the instrument panel and
cluster lens with a clean, damp, white
cotton cloth, then use a clean and dry
white cotton cloth to dry these areas.
• Avoid cleaners or polishes that increase the gloss of the upper
portion of the instrument panel.
The dull finish in this area helps
protect you from undesirable
windshield reflection.
• Be certain to wash or wipe your hands clean if you have been in
contact with certain products such
as insect repellent and suntan
lotion in order to avoid possible
damage to the interior painted
surfaces.
• Do not use household or glass cleaners as these may damage the
finish of the instrument panel,
interior trim and cluster lens.
• Do not allow air fresheners and hand sanitizers to spill onto interior
surfaces. If a spill occurs, wipe off
immediately. Damage may not be
covered by y our warranty. If a staining liquid like coffee or juice
has been spilled on the instrument
panel or on interior trim surfaces,
clean as follows:
1. Wipe up spilled liquid using a
clean, white, cotton cloth.
2. Wipe the surface with a damp, clean, white cotton cloth. For more
thorough cleaning, use a mild soap
and water solution. If the spot
cannot be completely cleaned by
this method, the area may be
cleaned using a commercially
available cleaning product
designed for automotive interiors.
3. If necessary, apply more soap and water solution or cleaning product
to a clean, white, cotton cloth and
press the cloth onto the soiled
area. Allow this to set at room
temperature for 30 minutes.
4. Remove the soaked cloth and if it is not soiled badly, use this cloth
to clean the area by using a
rubbing motion for 60 seconds.
5. Following this, wipe area dry with a clean, white, cotton cloth.
CLEANING LEATHER SEATS
(IF EQUIPPED)
For routine cleaning, wipe the surface
with a soft, damp cloth. For more
thorough cleaning, wipe the surface
with a mild soap and water solution.
Dry the area with a soft cloth. In
Canada, use Motorcraft® Vinyl
Cleaner.

If the leather cannot be completely
cleaned using a mild soap and water
solution, the leather may be cleaned
using a commercially available leather
cleaning product designed for
automotive interiors.
Note:To check for compatibility, first
test any cleaner or stain remover on an
inconspicuous part of the leather.
You should:
• remove dust and loose dirt with a vacuum cleaner.
• clean spills and stains as quickly as possible.

Do not use the following products as
these may damage the leather:
• oil/petroleum-based leather conditioners.
• household cleaners.
• alcohol solutions.
• solvents or cleaners intended specifically for rubber, vinyl and
plastics.
CLEANING THE ALLOY
WHEELS
Note: Do not apply a cleaning
chemical to warm or hot wheel rims
and covers.
Note: Some automatic car washes
may cause damage to the finish on
your wheel rims and covers. Note:
Industrial-strength or
heavy-duty cleaners in combination
with brush agitation to remove brake
dust and dirt, could wear away the
clear coat finish over a period time.
Note: Do not use hydrofluoric
acid-based or high caustic-based
wheel cleaners, steel wool, fuels or
strong household detergents.
Note: If you intend parking your vehicle
for an extended period after cleaning
the wheels with a wheel cleaner, drive
your vehicle for a few minutes before
doing so. This will reduce the risk of
increased corrosion of the brake discs.
Alloy wheels and wheel covers are
coated with a clear coat paint finish.
To maintain their condition we
recommend that you:
• Clean the wheels weekly using Motorcraft Wheel and Tire Cleaner.
Apply using manufacturer's
instructions.
• Use a sponge to remove heavy deposits of dirt and brake dust
accumulation.
• Rinse thoroughly with a strong stream of water when you have
completed the cleaning process.
• To remove tar and grease, use Motorcraft Bug and Tar Remover.

VEHICLE STORAGE
If you plan on storing your vehicle for
an extended period of time (30 days
or more), read the following
maintenance recommendations to
make sure your vehicle stays in good
operating condition.
All motor vehicles and their
components were engineered and
tested for reliable, regular driving.
Long term storage under various
conditions may lead to component
degradation or failure unless specific
precautions are taken to preserve the
components.
General
• Store all vehicles in a dry,ventilated place.
• Protect from sunlight, if possible.
• If vehicles are stored outside, they require regular maintenance to
protect against rust and damage.
Body
• Wash your vehicle thoroughly toremove dirt, grease, oil, tar or mud
from exterior surfaces, rear-wheel
housing and underside of front
fenders.
• Periodically wash your vehicle stored in exposed locations.
• Touch-up exposed or primed metal to prevent rust. • Cover chrome and stainless steel
parts with a thick coat of auto wax
to prevent discoloration. Re-wax
as necessary when your vehicle is
washed.
• Lubricate all hood, door and trunk lid hinges, and latches with a light
grade oil.
• Cover interior trim to prevent fading.
• Keep all rubber parts free from oil and solvents.
Engine
• The engine oil and filter should bechanged prior to storage, as used
engine oil contain contaminates
that may cause engine damage.
• Start the engine every 15 days. Run at fast idle until it reaches normal
operating temperature
• With your foot on the brake, shift through all the gears while the
engine is running.
Fuel system
• Fill the fuel tank with high-qualityfuel until the first automatic
shutoff of the fuel pump nozzle.

TEMPORARY MOBILITY KIT
(IF EQUIPPED)
Note:The temporary mobility kit
sealant compound in the canister is to
be used for one tire only. See your Ford
authorized dealer for additional
replacement sealant canisters.
The kit is located in the spare tire well
in the trunk. The kit consists of an air
compressor to reinflate the tire and a
sealing compound in a canister that
will effectively seal most punctures
caused by nails or similar objects. This
kit will provide a temporary seal
allowing you to drive your vehicle up
to 120 miles (200 kilometers) at a
maximum speed of 50 mph (80
km/h).

General Information
WARNING
Failure to follow these guidelines
could result in an increased risk
of loss of vehicle control, injury or
death.
Note: Do not use the kit if a tire has
become severely damaged by driving
the vehicle with a tire that has
insufficient air pressure. Only punctured
areas located within the tire tread can
be sealed with the kit.
Do not attempt to repair punctures
larger than 1.4 inch (6.4 millimeters)
or damage to the tire's sidewall. The
tire may not completely seal.
Loss of air pressure may adversely
affect tire performance. For this
reason:
Note: Do not drive the vehicle above
50 mph (80 km/h).
Note: Do not drive further than 120
miles (200 kilometers). Drive only to
the closest Ford Motor Company
authorized dealer or tire repair shop to
have your tire inspected.
• Drive carefully and avoid abrupt steering maneuvers.
• Periodically monitor tire inflation pressure in the affected tire; if the
tire is losing pressure, have the
vehicle towed.
• Read the information in the Tips for Use of the Kit section to make
sure safe operation of the kit and
your vehicle.
Tips for Use of the Kit
Read the following list of tips to
ensure safe operation of the kit:
• Before operating the kit, make sureyour vehicle is safely off the road
and away from moving traffic. Turn
on the hazard lights.
• Always set the parking brake to ensure the vehicle doesn't move
unexpectedly.
• Do not remove any foreign objects, such as nails or screws, from the
tire.
• When using the kit, leave the engine running (only if the vehicle
is outdoors or in a well-ventilated
area) so the compressor doesn't
drain the vehicle's battery.
• Do not allow the compressor to operate continuously for more
than 15 minutes; this will help
prevent the compressor from
overheating.
• Never leave the kit unattended when it is operating.
• Sealant compound contains latex. Make sure that you use the
non-latex gloves provided to avoid
an allergic reaction.
• Keep the kit away from children.
• Only use the kit when the ambient temperature is between -22°F
(–30°C) and 158°F (70°C).

• Only use the sealing compoundbefore the use by date. The use by
date is on the lower right hand
corner of the label located on the
sealant canister (bottle). Check
the use by date regularly and
replace the canister after four
years.
• Do not store the kit unsecured inside the passenger compartment
of the vehicle as it may cause injury
during a sudden stop or crash.
Always store the kit in its original
location.
• After sealant use, the tire pressure monitoring system sensor and
valve stem on the wheel must be
replaced by an authorized Ford
dealer.
• When inflating a tire or other objects, use the black air hose only.
Do not use the transparent hose
which is designed for sealant
application only.
• Operating the kit could cause an electrical disturbance in radio, CD,
and DVD player operation.
What to do when a Tire Is
Punctured
A tire puncture within the tire's tread
area can be repaired in two stages
with the kit. • In the first stage, the tire will be
reinflated with a sealing
compound and air. After the tire
has been reinflated, you will need
to drive the vehicle a short
distance (about 4 miles [6
kilometers]) to distribute the
sealant in the tire.
• In the second stage, you will need to check the tire pressure and
adjust, if necessary, to the vehicle's
tire inflation pressure.
First Stage: Reinflating the Tire
with Sealing Compound and Air
WARNINGS
Do not stand directly over the kit
while inflating the tire. If you
notice any unusual bulges or
deformations in the tire's sidewall
during inflation, stop and call roadside
assistance.
If the tire doesn't inflate to the
recommended tire pressure
within 15 minutes, stop and call
roadside assistance.
Preparation: Park the vehicle in a safe,
level and secure area, away from
moving traffic. Turn the hazard lights
on. Apply the parking brake and turn
the engine off. Inspect the flat tire for
visible damage.
Sealant compound contains latex. To
avoid any allergic reactions, use the
non-latex gloves located in the
accessory box on the underside of the
kit housing.

Do not remove any foreign object that
has pierced the tire. If a puncture is
located in the tire sidewall, stop and
call roadside assistance.
1. Remove the valve cap from the tirevalve.
2. Unwrap the clear tube from the compressor housing.
3. Remove the tube cap and fasten the metal connector of the tube to
the tire valve, turning clockwise.
Make sure the connection is tightly
fastened.

4. Plug the power cable into the12-volt power point in the vehicle.
5. Remove the warning sticker found on the canister and place it on the
top of the instrument panel or the
center of the dash.
6. Start the vehicle only if the vehicle is outdoors or in a well-ventilated
area.

7. Push and turn dial (A)counterclockwise to the sealant
position. Turn on the kit by pressing
the on/off button (B).

8. Inflate the tire to the pressurelisted on the tire label located on
the driver's door or the door jamb
area. When the sealing compound
is first added into the tire, the air
pressure gauge reading on the
compressor unit may indicate a
higher value; this is normal and
should be no reason for concern.
The pressure will drop after about
30 seconds of operation. The tire
pressure has to be checked with
the compressor in the OFF position
to get the correct tire pressure
reading.
