Automatically Steering into a ParallelParking Space
When you shift into reverse (R), with yourhands off the steering wheel and nothingobstructing its movement, your vehicle steersitself into the space. The system displaysinstructions to move your vehicle backwardand forward in the space.
Note:If the vehicle speed exceedsapproximately 6 mph (9 km/h), you interruptthe maneuver, or the system switches off,you must take full control of your vehicle.
Note:If the system detects an object is veryclose to your vehicle and it may be unsafeto continue the maneuver, it may instruct youto stop your vehicle. The system may notprovide any further instruction. Steeringassistance continues to operate but youmust decide if it is safe to continue themaneuver.
When you believe your vehicle is correctlyparked, or a solid tone sounds and aninformation message appears, bring yourvehicle to a complete stop.
When the Active Park Assist maneuver iscomplete, a tone sounds and an informationmessage appears.
Note:You are responsible for checking howyour vehicle is parked and making anynecessary corrections before leaving yourvehicle.
Deactivating Active Park Assist
You can manually deactivate the system by:
•Pressing the Active Park Assist buttonduring an active maneuver.
•Grabbing the steering wheel during anactive maneuver.
•Driving above 22 mph (35 km/h) for 30seconds when searching for a parkingspace.
•Driving above 31 mph (50 km/h).
•Driving above 6 mph (9 km/h) during anactive maneuver.
•Switching the traction control system off.
Certain vehicle conditions may alsodeactivate the system, for example:
•The traction control system activates orfails.
•The anti-lock brake system activates orfails.
If the system malfunctions, a messageappears and a tone sounds. Have yourvehicle checked as soon as possible.
Perpendicular Parking
The system detects available perpendicularparking spaces and steers your vehicle intothe space. You control the accelerator,gearshift and brakes. The system visuallyand audibly guides you into a perpendicularparking space.
Press the button twice to searchfor a parking space.

When the vehicle speed is less than 19 mph(30 km/h), the system scans both sides ofyour vehicle for an available parking space.A message and a graphic appear in theinformation display to indicate the system issearching for a parking space. Use thedirection indicator lever to search for aparking space on the driver or passengerside of your vehicle.
Note:The system scans both sides of yourvehicle and offers parking spaces one sideat a time if you do not use the directionindicator.
Note:The system defaults to the passengerside if you do not use the direction indicator.
Drive your vehicle approximately 3 ft (1 m)and perpendicular to the other parkedvehicles when searching for a parking space.
Note:If you drive your vehicle less than 2 ft(0.5 m) or greater than 5 ft (1.5 m) away fromother parked vehicles, the system may notbe able to detect an available parkingspace.
When the system detects a suitable space,a message displays and a tone sounds. Stopyour vehicle and follow the onscreeninstructions. If your vehicle is moving veryslowly, you may have to move forward ashort distance before the system is ready topark.
Note:You must observe that the space thesystem selects remains clear of obstructionsat all times during the maneuver.
Note:The system always offers the lastdetected parking space. For example, if yourvehicle detects multiple spaces when youare driving, it offers the last one.
Note:If the vehicle speed is greater thanapproximately 19 mph (30 km/h), the systemshows a message to instruct you to reducethe vehicle speed.

Parallel Park Out Assist
The system steers your vehicle out of aparallel parking space. You control theaccelerator, gearshift and brakes. The systemvisually and audibly guides you out of aparallel parking space.
Note:This system is not intended to assistwhen exiting a perpendicular parking space.
Press the button once when yourvehicle is stationary in a parallelparking space.
Note:If you did not use active park assist toparallel park your vehicle, pressing thebutton once selects parallel park. You mustuse the information display to select parkout assist.
The system displays a message instructingyou to switch a direction indicator on. Usethe direction indicator to select which sideof your vehicle you want to exit the parkingspace. The system displays instructions tomove your vehicle backward and forward inthe space.

Active guidelines are only shown with fixedguidelines. To use active guidelines, turn thesteering wheel to point the guidelines towardan intended path. If you change the steeringwheel position while reversing, your vehiclemight deviate from the original intendedpath.
The fixed and active guidelines fade in andout depending on your steering wheelposition. When your steering wheel positionis straight, the active guidelines are notvisible.
Always use caution while reversing. Objectsin the red zone are closest to your vehicleand objects in the green zone are fartheraway. Objects are getting closer to yourvehicle as they move from the green zoneto the yellow or red zones. Use the side viewmirrors and rear view mirror to get bettercoverage on both sides and rear of yourvehicle.
Enhanced Park Aids
Note:The reverse sensing system is noteffective at speeds above 3 mph (5 km/h)and may not detect certain angular ormoving objects.
The system uses red, yellow and greenhighlights that appear on top of the videoimage when the reverse sensing systemdetects an object. The alert highlights theclosest object detected. You can disable thereverse sensing alert if you have enhancedpark aids enabled, you will still see thedisplayed highlighted areas.
Selectable settings for this feature are ONand OFF.
Manual Zoom
WARNING: When manual zoom is on,the full area behind your vehicle is notshown. Be aware of your surroundings whenusing the manual zoom feature.
Note:Manual zoom is only available whenthe transmission is in reverse (R).

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
Cruise control lets you maintain a set speedwithout keeping your foot on the acceleratorpedal. You can use cruise control when yourvehicle speed is greater than 20 mph(30 km/h).
USING CRUISE CONTROL (If Equipped)
WARNING: Do not use cruise controlon winding roads, in heavy traffic or whenthe road surface is slippery. This could resultin loss of vehicle control, serious injury ordeath.
WARNING: When you are goingdownhill, your vehicle speed could increaseabove the set speed. The system does notapply the brakes.
To help the system to maintain the set speedwhen going downhill, downshift to a lowergear.
Your vehicle speed could decrease belowthe set speed when driving uphill.
Note:The system cancels if your vehiclespeed drops below 10 mph (16 km/h) underthe set speed when driving uphill.
The cruise controls are on the steeringwheel. See Cruise Control (page 83).
Switching Cruise Control On
For vehicles without Speed Limiter,press and release the button.
For vehicles with Speed Limiter,press and release the button.
The indicator displays in the instrumentcluster.
Setting the Cruise Speed
Drive to your preferred speed.
Press and release to set thecurrent speed.
Press and release to set thecurrent speed.
Take your foot off the accelerator pedal.
Note:The indicator changes color.
Changing the Set Speed
Press and release to increase theset speed in small increments.
Press and release to decrease theset speed in small increments.
Press and hold either button to accelerateor decelerate, respectively. Release thebutton when you reach your preferred speed.

WARNING: Adaptive cruise controldoes not detect oncoming vehicles in thesame lane.
WARNING: Adaptive cruise control isnot a crash warning or avoidance system.
The system adjusts your vehicle speed tomaintain the set gap between you and thevehicle in front of you in the same lane. Youcan select four gap settings.
The system uses a radar sensor whichprojects a beam directly in front of yourvehicle.
Note:It is your responsibility to stay alert,drive safely and be in control of the vehicleat all times.
The cruise controls are on the steeringwheel. See Cruise Control (page 83).
Switching Adaptive Cruise Control On
For vehicles without Speed Limiter,press and release the button.
For vehicles with Speed Limiter,press and release the button.
The indicator, current gap setting and setspeed appear in the information display.

USING DRIVER ALERT
Switching the System On and Off
Switch the system on or off using theinformation display. See General Information(page 110).
When active, the system monitors youralertness level based upon your drivingbehavior in relation to the lane markings andother factors.
System Warnings
Note:The system does not issue warningsbelow approximately 40 mph (64 km/h).
The warning system has two stages. First,the system issues a temporary warning thatyou need to take a rest. This message onlyappears for a short time. If the systemdetects further reduction in driving alertness,it may issue another warning that remains inthe information display for a longer time. Youcan press OK on the steering wheel controlto clear the warning.
System Display
When active, the system runs automaticallyin the background and only issues a warningif required. You can view the status at anytime using the information display. SeeGeneral Information (page 110).
The alertness level is shown by six steps ina colored bar.
The current assessment of your alertness iswithin a typical range.
The current assessment of your alertnessindicates that you should rest as soon assafely possible.
The status bar travels from left to right as thecalculated alertness level decreases. As themeter approaches the rest icon, the colorturns from green to yellow to red.
The yellow position indicates the firstwarning is active and the red positionindicates the second warning is active.
Note:If you have recently received awarning, you should consider resting, evenif the current assessment is within the typicalrange.
Note:If the camera sensor cannot track theroad lane markings, or if your vehicle speeddrops below approximately 40 mph(64 km/h), the alertness level changes togrey for a short time and the informationdisplay informs you that the system isunavailable.
Resetting the System
You can reset the system by either:

•Switching the ignition off and on.
•Stopping the vehicle and then openingand closing the driver’s door.
LANE KEEPING SYSTEM (If Equipped)
WARNING: You are responsible forcontrolling your vehicle at all times. Thesystem is designed to be an aid and doesnot relieve you of your responsibility to drivewith due care and attention. Failure to followthis instruction could result in the loss ofcontrol of your vehicle, personal injury ordeath.
WARNING: Always drive with due careand attention when using and operating thecontrols and features on your vehicle.
WARNING: In cold and severe weatherconditions the system may not function. Rain,snow and spray can all limit sensorperformance.
WARNING: The system will not operateif the sensor cannot track the road lanemarkings.
WARNING: The sensor may incorrectlytrack lane markings as other structures orobjects. This can result in a false or missedwarning.
WARNING: Large contrasts in outsidelighting can limit sensor performance.
WARNING: The system may notoperate properly if the sensor is blocked.Keep the windshield free from obstruction.
WARNING: If damage occurs in theimmediate area surrounding the sensor, haveyour vehicle checked as soon as possible.
WARNING: The system may notcorrectly operate if your vehicle is fitted witha suspension kit not approved by us.
Note:The system works above 40 mph(64 km/h).
Note:The system works as long as thecamera can detect one lane marking.
Note:When aid mode is on and the systemdetects no steering activity for a short period,the system alerts you to put your hands onthe steering wheel. The system may detecta light grip or touch on the steering wheelas hands off driving.
Note:The system may not function if thecamera is blocked, or if the windshield isdamaged or dirty.

When you switch the system on and itdetects an unintentional drift out of your laneis likely to occur, the system notifies orassists you to stay in your lane through thesteering system and information display.Depending on the feature operation modeyou select, the system provides a warningby vibrating the steering wheel or a steeringassistance by gently counter steering yourvehicle back into the lane.
Switching the System On and Off
Note:The system on or off setting is storeduntil it is manually changed, unless a MyKey™is detected. If the system detects a MyKey™,it defaults to on and the mode is set to alert.
Press the button on the direction indicatorstalk to switch the system on or off.
System Settings
The system has optional setting menusavailable. The system stores the last-knownselection for each of these settings. You donot need to readjust your settings each timeyou switch on the system.
Mode: This setting allows you to select whichof the system features you can enable.
Alert only – Provides a steering wheelvibration when the system detects anunintended lane departure.
Aid only – Provides steering assistancetoward the lane center when the systemdetects an unintended lane departure.

Alert + Aid – Provides steering assistancetoward the lane center.
If your vehicle continues drifting out of thelane after the lane keeping aid corrects thevehicle, the system provides a steeringwheel vibration.
Note:The alert and aid diagrams illustrategeneral zone coverage. They do not provideexact zone parameters.
Intensity: This setting affects the intensity ofthe steering wheel vibration used for the alertand alert + aid modes. This setting does notaffect the aid mode.

System Display
If you switch the system on in alert mode, anoverhead graphic of a vehicle with lanemarkings appears in the information display.
If you switch the system on in aid or alert andaid mode, a separate white icon alsoappears, or in some vehicles, arrows displaywith the lane markings.
When you switch the system off, the lanemarking graphics do not display.
While the system is on, the color of the lanemarkings change to indicate the systemstatus.
Gray: Indicates that the system is temporarilyunable to provide a warning or interventionon the indicated side. This may be because:
•Your vehicle is under the activationspeed.
•The direction indicator is active.
•Your vehicle is in a dynamic maneuver.
