AC Power Outlet (120 V/1,500 W)
The AC power outlet can be used as a
power source for household electrical
appliances when the vehicle power is
switched on and the hybrid system is
not operating.
Use only electrical appliances with a
maximum power consumption of
1500 W or lower and AC 120 V/60
Hz.
Warnings and CautionsWhen Using the AC

WARNING
Never use medical instruments with
the power outlet.
Otherwise, the operation of the
medical device might be affected.
Heed the following cautions when
using the AC power supply to prevent
electrical shock, smoking, or
combustion.
 Be careful with the AC power outlet
and plug during and after use.
 Always follow the instructions
included with the electrical
appliance and the precautions
indicated on the appliance.
 Because an electrical appliance
could operate at the moment it is
plugged in, check the safety before
plugging it in.
 Do not plug accessories into the
power outlet or unplug them with
wet hands.
 Do not allow dust or dirt to adhere
to the AC power outlet. Additionally,
clean the AC power outlet regularly.
 Be careful not to allow liquid to
penetrate the AC power outlet.
 Do not put anything other than plugs
into the AC power outlet.
 Do not use the AC power outlet
when there is a risk of lightning.
 Do not disassemble the AC power
outlet.

Do not use the AC power outlet if it
is damaged. If part replacement or
repair is required, consult an
Authorized Mazda Dealer.
 Do not charge the vehicle from the
AC power outlet.
Do not use electrical appliances that
emit steam with the windows closed.
Otherwise, steam could negatively
affect the vehicle’s electrical
accessories.
Close the hood while using the AC
power outlet.
When using the AC power outlet, the
cooling fan in the engine compartment
could operate automatically resulting
in an accident.
CAUTION
 Always close the cover when it is not
in use. If foreign matter or liquid
penetrates the AC power outlet, it
may cause a problem.
 Insert electrical appliance plugs into
the AC power outlet securely. If the
plug is not inserted securely, it may
heat excessively and blow a fuse.
 Do not connect multiple electrical
appliances to the AC power outlet.
Otherwise, it could cause smoking or
combustion.
 Do not use electrical appliances that
exceed the prescribed power
capacity. Otherwise, it could cause a
malfunction.
 Do not refuel while the AC Power
Outlet is in use.
 Do not use heat appliances such as a
stove in the cabin. Otherwise, the
interior parts may melt or burn due
to heat.
How to Use the AC
Power Outlet (120 V/ 1,500 W)
Before using the electrical appliance,
always follow the precautions
indicated in the instruction manual for
the electrical appliance to be used.
Connecting
1. Press the power switch 2 timeswithout depressing the brake pedal.

The indicator light flashes and turns
on when it is ready to be used.
NOTE
If the indicator light turns off after
flashing , there may be a problem
with the system. Contact an
Authorized Mazda Dealer.
3.
Open the lid and connect the
electrical appliance to be used.
Disconnecting
Press the switch again to turn off the
indicator light. Then disconnect the
electrical appliance.

NOTE
Some electrical appliances may not
operate even if their electrical
capacity is 1,500 W or lower.
The protection function may operate
and the AC power outlet may be
unusable if the high voltage battery
level is low or the cabin temperature
is extremely high or extremely low. In
addition, some electrical appliances
may not operate normally.
Noise may occur during radio
operation depending on the
electrical appliance being used.
Do not use the AC power outlet with
an adapter connected. In addition,
do not use a branch outlet to use
more than one electrical appliance.
When closing the windows, doors or
the liftgate, be careful not to pinch a
power cord.
The factory setting for the power
supply frequency of the vehicle is 60
Hz. To switch the power supply
frequency of your vehicle, consult an
Authorized Mazda Dealer.

Qi Wireless Charging standard.
Only use mobile devices that have a
maximum power consumption of 5 W,
or 15 W or below.

When Using the Wireless Charger (Qi)
WARNING
Radio waves from the Wireless
Charger (Qi) may affect the operation
of medical devices such as
implanted-type cardiac pacemakers
or defibrillators.
 Before using the Wireless Charger
(Qi) near people who use medical
devices, ask the medical device
manufacturer or your physician if
radio waves from the Wireless
Charger (Qi) will affect the device.
 The Wireless Charger (Qi) can be
disabled to prevent it from affecting
medical devices. Consult an
Authorized Mazda Dealer for details.
Heed the following cautions.
Otherwise, the Wireless Charger (Qi)
may malfunction or be damaged,
which could cause a fire, burns due to
heat generation, or an accident such
as electrical shock.
 Do not install, remove, disassemble,
or change the wiring of the Wireless
Charger (Qi). If the Wireless Charger
(Qi) needs to be installed or
removed, consult an Authorized
Mazda Dealer.
 Do not use the Wireless Charger (Qi)
when it is malfunctioning. In
addition, if smoke, abnormal noise,
or abnormal smell is emitted from
the Wireless Charger (Qi), stop the
vehicle in a safe place, turn off the
Wireless Charger (Qi), and consult
an Authorized Mazda Dealer.

When using the Wireless Charger
(Qi) to store items on, turn off the
Wireless Charger (Qi).
 Do not place any metal object
between the charging area and the
mobile device. Also, do not apply
items such as a metallic sticker to the
Wireless Charger (Qi).
 When charging, do not place any
item other than the mobile device to
be charged on the Wireless Charger
(Qi). In addition, do not place any
metal object, IC card, coin, or
magnetic item near the charging
area.
 Remove dust or dirt from the
charging area before use.
 Do not apply strong force or impact
to the Wireless Charger (Qi) or get it
wet.
 Use only mobile devices which
support the Wireless Charger (Qi).
CAUTION
While a mobile device is placed on
the charging area, keep the vehicle
key away from the Wireless Charger
(Qi). The vehicle key may not be
detected due to radio wave
interference by the Wireless Charger
(Qi).
 Charging may not operate normally
under the following conditions:
 The mobile device is fully charged.
 There is foreign matter between
the mobile device and the charging
area.
 The temperature of the mobile
device is high.
 The mobile device is placed with
the charging side facing upward.
 The mobile device is placed in a
position extremely deviating from
the center of the charging area.
Your vehicle is in an area where
strong radio waves or electrical
noise occur such as near a
television tower, power plant, or
airport.
 The Near Field Communication
(NFC) function setting of the
mobile device is on (depends on
the model of the mobile device).
 Keep the following items away from
the charging area. Otherwise the
data stored on the mobile device
could be erased or the device could
malfunction.
 Magnetic items such as magnets,
magnetic cards, and magnetic
recording media.
 High precision devices such as
wristwatches.
 Before using the Wireless Charger
(Qi), make sure to back up the data
stored on the mobile device. The
data on the mobile device could be
deleted.
 Do not wipe the Wireless Charger
(Qi) using oil, alcohol, or thinner, or
spray hairspray or insecticide onto it.
Otherwise, it could cause damage or
cracking.
 Do not leave mobile devices in the
cabin. The temperature inside the
cabin may become very hot, causing
the devices to malfunction.

How to Use the WirelessCharger (Qi)
1. Start the hybrid system.The power for the Wireless Charger
(Qi) turns on and the LED indicator
turns on.
2. Place a device compliant with the
Qi Wireless Charging standard
(portable device with a maximum
power consumption of 5 W or 15
W or below) in the center of the
charging area on the tray.

or green when charging starts.
Charging starts when all the doors
and liftgate are closed.

The charging status of the Wireless
Charger (Qi) can be checked with the

the center display.

cargo.
If you tow a trailer, follow these
instructions because driver and
passenger safety depends on proper
equipment and safe driving habits.
Towing a trailer will affect handling,
braking , durability, performance, and
economy.
Never overload vehicle or trailer.
Consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer if
you need further details.
NOTE
Your vehicle is equipped with a
Trailer Stability Control (TSC)
mechanism, which enhances vehicle
stability when towing a trailer.
Refer to Trailer Stability Control
(TSC) on page 5-90.
When towing a trailer, do not use the
following safety systems (If a Mazda
genuine trailer hitch is used, these
systems are automatically turned off
when the trailer's electrical
connector is connected):

towing a trailer.

Do not connect a hydraulic
trailer-brake system to your vehicle's
brake system:
Connecting a hydraulic trailer-brake
system directly to the vehicle brake
system is dangerous and will result in
inadequate braking and possible injury.
Always use lower gears to reduce
speed:
Holding the brake pedal down too
long or too frequently is dangerous as
it could cause the brakes to overheat
and lose power, resulting in loss of
control and a serious accident. Use
lower gears to help reduce speed. Pull
off the road and allow brakes to cool
down whenever braking performance
feels reduced.
CAUTION
Do not tow a trailer during the first
1,000 km (600 miles) of your new
Mazda. If you do, you may damage
the engine, transmission, differential,
wheel bearings, and other
power-train components.
 Be aware of the towing load weight
differences when towing at high
altitudes. For altitudes exceeding
1,000 meter (3,280 ft 10 in), always
reduce the towing load by 10 % for
every 1,000 meter (3,280 ft 10 in)
increase in altitude from the load
indicated under the maximum
GCWR heading in the trailer
towing-load table. If the determined
maximum total towing load weight is
exceeded, the engine and other
power-train parts may be damaged.
 The total trailer weight and tongue
load can be determined by weighing
the trailer on platform scales at a
highway weight station or a trucking
company.
Make all hitch adjustments with
actual loads. Do not load and
unload vehicle while adjusting hitch.
This action will change the vehicle
height.
 Do not use an axle-mounted hitch.
This may damage the axle and
related parts.
 If the vehicle exceeds 100 km/h (62
mph) with a trailer in tow, the
vehicle could be damaged.
 Do not connect a trailer lighting
system directly to the lighting system
of your Mazda. This may damage
your vehicle's electrical system and
lighting systems. Have a recreational
vehicle dealer or trailer rental agency
connect the system, and inspect the
brake lights and turn signals yourself
before each trip.

TTW and GCWR
The total trailer weight (TTW), gross combination weight rating (GCWR), gross axle
weight rating (GAWR), trailer load, and trailer tongue load must be within the
prescribed limits.
The total trailer weight (TTW) is the sum of the weights of the trailer load (trailer
weight plus cargo). Never allow the total trailer weight (TTW) to exceed specifications in the Trailer towing-load table.
The maximum GCWR is the combination weight of the trailer and load plus the
towing vehicle (including trailer hitch, vehicle passengers, and load). It must not
exceed the specifications in the load table.
GAWR and GVWR
Do not exceed front and rear GAWR (gross axle weight rating) and GVWR (gross
vehicle weight rating). If you do, vehicle handling , braking , and performance will be
affected. These values are also on the Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Label posted
on the driver's door frame.
Trailer frontal area table
Frontal area is the total area that a moving vehicle and trailer exposes to air
resistance. Exceeding this limit may reduce the performance of your towing vehicle.

Before driving
Have your cooling and braking system checked by an Authorized Mazda Dealer.Before starting out, inspect the operation of all vehicle and trailer lights and all
vehicle-to-trailer connections. Stop and re-inspect all lights and connections after
driving a short distance.
Trailer hitch
Use only a hitch ball recommended by the trailer manufacturer that conforms to the
gross trailer weight requirement.
When not towing a trailer, remove the trailer hitch (if detachable) to reduce the
possibility of damage as a result of the vehicle being rear-ended.
Tires
When towing a trailer, make sure that the tire pressures of the rear tires are at 20
kPa (0.2 bar, 2.9 psi) higher than the recommended tire pressures indicated on
the tire pressure chart on the driver's door frame.
