CAUTION
¾ When driving off -road in areas where there is grass or forage, it is recommended that the
Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system be turned off .
¾ Always use tires for all wheels that are of the specifi ed size, and the same manufacturer,
brand, and tread pattern. In addition, do not use tires with signifi cantly diff erent wear
patterns on the same vehicle as the Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system may not
operate normally.
¾ The laser sensor (front) includes a function for detecting a soiled windshield and informing
the driver, however, depending on the conditions, it may not detect plastic shopping bags,
ice or snow on the windshield. In such cases, the system cannot accurately determine a
vehicle ahead and may not be able to operate normally. Always drive carefully and pay
attention to the road ahead.
N O T E
y The Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system will not operate if the driver is deliberately
performing driving operations (accelerator pedal and steering wheel).
y The Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system will operate under the following conditions.
y The engine is running.
y The Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) warning light (amber) does not illuminate.
y The vehicle speed is between about 4 to 30 km/h (2 to 18 mph).
y The Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system is not turned off.
y The DSC operation is not turned off using the DSC OFF switch.
y The DSC is not malfunctioning.
y The Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) detects a vehicle ahead by emitting a near-infrared
laser beam and receiving the beam re À ected off the re À ector of the vehicle ahead, and
then using it for the measurement. Consequently, the Smart City Brake Support (SCBS)
may not operate under the following conditions:
y Re À ection of the laser is poor due to the shape of the vehicle ahead.
y The vehicle ahead is signi ¿ cantly dirty.
y Under bad weather condition, such as rain, fog and snow.
y The window washer is being used or the windshield wipers are not used when it's
raining.
y The windshield is dirty.
y The steering wheel is turned completely left or right, or the vehicle is accelerated
rapidly and comes close to the vehicle ahead.
y Trucks with low loading platforms and vehicles with an extremely low or high pro ¿ le.
y Vehicles with certain shapes such as a vehicle carrier.

Forward Sensing Camera (FSC)
Your vehicle is equipped with a Forward Sensing Camera (FSC). The Forward Sensing
Camera (FSC) is positioned near the rearview mirror and used by the following systems.
y High Beam Control System (HBC)
y Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)
Forward Sensing Camera (FSC)
The Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) determines the conditions ahead of the vehicle while
traveling at night and detects traf ¿ c lanes. The distance in which the Forward Sensing
Camera (FSC) can detect objects varies depending on the surrounding conditions.

CAUTION
Heed the following cautions to assure the correct operation of the Forward Sensing
Camera (FSC).
¾ Do not remove the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) cover.
¾ Do not place objects on the dashboard which re À ect light.
¾ Do not apply accessories, stickers or ¿ lm to the windshield near the Forward
Sensing Camera (FSC). If there are objects in front of the Forward Sensing Camera
(FSC) lens, even a transparent sticker, they will cause the system to not operate
correctly.
¾ Always keep the windshield glass around the camera clean by removing dirt or
fogging. Use the windshield defroster to remove fogging on the windshield.
¾ When cleaning the windshield, do not allow glass cleaners or similar cleaning
agent to get on the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) lens. In addition, do not touch
the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) lens.
¾ Consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer regarding cleaning the interior side of the
windshield around the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC).
¾ Be careful not to scratch the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) lens or allow it to get
dirty. Also, do no take the camera apart. Otherwise, it could result in damage or
malfunction.
¾ Consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer before performing repairs around the
Forward Sensing Camera (FSC).
¾ The Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) is installed to the windshield. Consult an
Authorized Mazda Dealer for windshield repair and replacement.
¾ When performing repairs around the rearview mirror, consult an Authorized Mazda
Dealer.
¾ Consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer regarding cleaning of the Forward Sensing
Camera (FSC) lens.
¾ Do not hit or apply strong force to the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) or the area
around it. If strong force is applied, stop using the Lane Departure Warning System
(LDWS) and the High Beam Control System (HBC), and consult an Authorized
Mazda Dealer.
¾ The direction in which the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) is pointed has been
¿ nely adjusted. Do not change the installation position of the Forward Sensing
Camera (FSC) or remove it. Otherwise, it could result in damage or malfunction.

y The displayable range is limited. Objects under the bumper or around the bumper ends
cannot be displayed.
y The distance appearing in the displayed image is different from the actual distance
because the rear view parking camera is equipped with a speci ¿ c lens.
y Some optionally installed vehicle accessories may be picked up by the camera. Do not
install any optional parts that can interfere with the camera view, such as illuminating
parts or parts made of re À ective material.
y It may be dif ¿ cult to see the display under the following conditions, however, it does not
indicate a malfunction.
y In darkened areas.
y When the temperature around the lens is high/low.
y When the camera is wet such as on a rainy day or during periods of high humidity.
y When foreign material such as mud is stuck around the camera.
y When the camera lens re À ects sunlight or headlight beams.
y Image display may be delayed if the temperature around the camera is low.

WARNING
Do not replace the xenon fusion bulbs
yourself:
Replacing the xenon fusion bulbs
yourself is dangerous. Because the
xenon fusion bulbs require high
voltage, you could receive an electric
shock if the bulbs are handled
incorrectly. Consult an Authorized
Mazda Dealer when the replacement is
necessary.
Never touch the glass portion of a
halogen bulb with your bare hands
and always wear eye protection when
handling or working around the bulbs:
When a halogen bulb breaks, it is
dangerous. These bulbs contain
pressurized gas. If one is broken, it will
explode and serious injuries could be
caused by the fl ying glass.
If the glass portion is touched with
bare hands, body oil could cause the
bulb to overheat and explode when lit.
Always keep halogen bulbs out of the
reach of children:
Playing with a halogen bulb is
dangerous. Serious injuries could be
caused by dropping a halogen bulb or
breaking it some other way.
CAUTION
When removing the lens or lamp unit
using a fl athead screwdriver, make
sure that the fl athead screwdriver does
not contact the interior terminal. If
the fl athead screwdriver contacts the
terminal, a short circuit may occur.
N O T E
y To replace the bulb, contact an
Authorized Mazda Dealer.
y If the halogen bulb is accidentally
touched, it should be cleaned with
rubbing alcohol before being used.
y Use the protective cover and carton for
the replacement bulb to dispose of the
old bulb promptly and out of the reach
of children.

You cannot replace the low/high beam
bulbs by yourself. The bulbs must be
replaced at an Authorized Mazda Dealer.

1. If you are changing the right bulb, start
the engine, turn the steering wheel all
the way to the left, and turn off engine.
If you are changing the left bulb, turn
the steering wheel to the right, and turn
off engine.
2. Make sure the headlight switch is off.

* This indicator light stays on for a few seconds when the ignition is switched ON.
Thereafter, the indicator light will illuminate when the headlight auto-leveling system has a
malfunction.
If the indicator light illuminates, contact an Authorized Mazda Dealer.
N O T E
Vehicles with the adaptive front lighting system (AFS) are not equipped with the headlight
auto-leveling malfunction indicator light. If there is a malfunction with the headlight auto-
leveling function, the AFS OFF indicator light À ashes.

Low Fuel Warning
Light The light turns on when the remaining fuel
is about 9.0 L (2.3 US gal, 1.9 Imp gal). N O T E
The light illumination timing may vary
because fuel inside the fuel tank moves
around according to the driving conditions
and the vehicle posture. Add fuel.
Check Fuel Cap
Warning Light If the check fuel cap warning light
illuminates while driving, the fuel- ¿ ller cap
may not be installed properly. Stop the engine and reinstall the fuel- ¿ ller
cap.
