Seat Warmer*
▼Seat Warmer
The front seats can be warmed up
while the engine is running.
While the seat warmer is operating,
the indicator light in the seat warmer
switch turns on according to the set
temperature.
Manual mode
When the seat warmer switch is
pressed, the seat warmer operates in
manual mode.
The set temperature changes as shown
in the figure each time the seat warmer
switch is pressed.
1. OFF
2. High
3. Mid
4. Low
NOTE
If the engine is turned
off while the
seat warmer is operating in manual
mode, the seat warmer does not turn
on automatically the next time the
engine is turned on. To turn the seat
warmer on, press the switch again.
Auto mode
The driver and front passenger's seat
warmer can be operated in auto mode
using the following procedure.
1. If “Link Seat & Climate Control
Temperatures” has been disabled,
enable it using the following
procedure.
a) Select “Settings” from the Mazda
Connect home screen.
b) Select “Vehicle Settings”.
c) Enable “Link Seat & Climate
Control Temperatures”.
2. Press the AUTO switch.
While in auto mode, the seat
temperature is automatically controlled
in 4 levels (High, Mid, Low, and OFF)
according to the conditions in the
cabin.
NOTE
xIf the front passenger’s seat belt is
unfastened, the front passenger’s
seat warmer turns off.
xIf the seat warmer switch is pressed
during auto mode, the seat warmer
on the side where the switch was
pressed switches to manual mode.
To return to auto mode, press the
AUTO switch.
xIf the engine is turned
off while the
seat warmer is operating in auto
mode, the seat warmer operates in
auto mode again the next time the
engine is turned on.

WARNING
Be careful when using the seat
warmer:
The heat from the seat warmer may be
too hot for the following people and
could cause a low-temperature burn.
¾Infants, small children, elderly
people, and physically challenged
people
¾People with delicate skin
¾People who are excessively fatigued

Seat Belt Warning
Systems

If it detects that the occupant seat belt
is unfastened, the warning light or
beep alerts the occupant.

Seat belt indicator light (rear seat)
(green)
The light turns on when the rear seat
belt is fastened while the ignition is
switched ON, and it turns off after a
certain period.
Seat Belt Pretensioner
and Load Limiting
Systems
▼Seat Belt Pretensioner and Load
Limiting Systems
For optimum protection, the front seat
belts and rear outboard seat belts* are
equipped with pretensioner and load
limiting systems. For both these
systems to work properly you must
wear the seat belt properly.

Pretensioners:
When a collision is detected, the
pretensioners deploy simultaneously
with the air bags.
(With roll-over sensor)
The pretensioners deploy
simultaneously with the air bags when
a roll-over is also detected.
For deployment details, refer to the
SRS Air Bag Deployment Criteria (page
2-58).

The seat belt retractors remove slack
quickly as the air bags are expanding.
Any time the air bags and seat belt
pretensioners have fired they must be
replaced.
A system malfunction or operation
conditions are indicated by a warning.

(With front passenger air bag
deactivation switch)
In addition, the pretensioner system
for the front passenger, like the front
and side passenger air bag , is designed
to only deploy when the front
passenger air bag deactivation switch
is turned to the ON position.

Front Passenger Air Bag Deactivation Switch*

WARNING
Do not deactivate the front passenger air bag unnecessarily:
Unnecessary deactivation of the front passenger air bag is dangerous. If turned
off
unnecessarily, the front passenger will not receive the added protection of the air
bag. Serious injuries or even death could occur. With the exception of installing a
child-restraint system on the front passenger seat, do not turn the air bag
deactivation switch to the OFF position.

The front passenger air bag deactivation switch should be used to deactivate the
front passenger front and side air bags and also the front passenger seat belt
pretensioner system if installing a child-restraint system on the front passenger seat.
When the ignition is switched ON, both front passenger air bag deactivation
indicator lights illuminate regardless of the front passenger air bag deactivation
switch position. The indicator light turns off after a specified period of time, then
turns on/off depending on the conditions as indicated in the following table.

Have the front passenger air bag deactivation switch inspected by an expert repairer
(we recommend an Authorised Mazda Repairer) if any of these conditions occur:
xThe front passenger air bag deactivation indicator light does not illuminate for a
specified period of time when the ignition is switched ON.
xThe front passenger air bag deactivation indicator light does not turn
off after a
short period of time when the ignition is switched ON (front passenger air bag
deactivation switch is in ON position).
▼Switch Positions
Before driving, always confirm that the
front passenger air bag deactivation
switch is in the appropriate position
using the auxiliary key according to
your requirements.
WARNING
Do not leave the key in the front
passenger air bag deactivation switch:
Unintentional deactivation of the front
passenger air bag is dangerous. In an
accident, the front passenger will not
be properly protected. Serious injuries
or even death could occur. To avoid
unintentional deactivation, always use
the auxiliary key stored in the
transmitter body currently being used
to operate the front passenger air bag
deactivation switch. After deactivating
the air bag, put the auxiliary key back
into the transmitter body. That way you
will not leave the key in the front
passenger air bag deactivation switch.

receives the force of an impact.

In a roll-over:
In response to a vehicle roll-over, both
curtain air bags
inflate.

The diagnostic module continuously
monitors the system's readiness. This
begins when the ignition is switched
ON and continues while the vehicle is
being driven.

WARNING
Do not leave the key in your vehicle
with children and keep them in a
place where your children will not
find or play with them:
Leaving children in a vehicle with the
key is dangerous. This could result in
someone being badly injured or even
killed. Children may find these keys to
be an interesting toy to play with and
could cause the power windows or
other controls to operate, or even
make the vehicle move.
CAUTION
¾Because the key (transmitter) uses
low-intensity radio waves, it may not
function correctly under the
following conditions:
¾The key (transmitter) is carried with
communication devices such as
cellular phones.
¾The key (transmitter) contacts or is
covered by a metal object.
¾The key (transmitter) is near
electronic devices such as personal
computers.
¾Non-Mazda genuine electronic
equipment is installed in the
vehicle.
¾There is equipment which
discharges radio waves near the
vehicle.
¾The key (transmitter) may consume
battery power excessively if it
receives high-intensity radio waves.
Do not place the key (transmitter)
near electronic devices such as
televisions or personal computers.
¾To avoid damage to the key
(transmitter), DO NOT:
¾Drop the key (transmitter).
¾Get the key (transmitter) wet.
¾Disassemble the key (transmitter).
¾Expose the key (transmitter) to
high temperatures on places such
as the instrument panel or bonnet,
under direct sunlight.
¾Expose the key (transmitter) to any
kind of magnetic field.
¾Place heavy objects on the key
(transmitter).
¾Put the key (transmitter) in an
ultrasonic cleaner.
¾Put any magnetized objects close
to the key (transmitter).

NOTE
The driver must carry the key
(transmitter) to ensure the system
functions properly.

Keyless Entry System
▼Keyless Entry System
This system uses the key buttons to
remotely lock and unlock the doors,
liftgate, and fuel-filler flap, and opens/
closes the liftgate.
The system can start the engine
without having to take the key out of
your purse or pocket.
Operating the theft-deterrent system is
also possible on theft-deterrent
system-equipped vehicles.

System malfunctions or warnings are
indicated by the following warning
lights or beeps.
Check the displayed message for more
information and, if necessary, have the
vehicle inspected at an expert repairer
(we recommend an Authorised Mazda
Repairer), according to the indication.

If you have a problem with the key,
consult an expert repairer (we
recommend an Authorised Mazda
Repairer).

If your key is lost or stolen, consult an
expert repairer (we recommend an
Authorised Mazda Repairer) as soon as
possible for a replacement and to
make the lost or stolen key inoperative.
CAUTION
Changes or modifications not expressly
approved by the party responsible for
compliance could void the user's
authority to operate the equipment.
NOTE
xThe keyless entry system operation
may vary due to local conditions.
xThe keyless entry system is fully
operational when the ignition is
switched off. The system does not
operate if the ignition is switched to
any position other than off.
xIf the key does not operate when
pressing a button or the operational
range becomes too small, the battery
may be weak. To install a new
battery, refer to Key Battery
Replacement (page 6-39).
xBattery life is about 1 year. Replace
the battery with a new one if the
messages are displayed in the
instrument cluster. Replacing the
battery about once a year is
recommended because the KEY
warning indication may not display
depending on the rate of battery
depletion.
xAdditional keys can be obtained at
an Authorised Mazda Repairer. Up
to 6 keys can be used with the
keyless functions per vehicle. Bring
all keys to an Authorised Mazda
Repairer when additional keys are
required.

you prefer, the beep sound can be
turned
off.
The volume of the beep sound can
also be changed.

The operation indicator light
flashes
when the buttons are pressed.
Lock button
To lock the doors, liftgate, and
fuel-filler flap, press the lock button
and the hazard warning lights will
flash
once.
(With the advanced keyless function

A beep sound will be heard once.
NOTE
xIf the lock button is pressed with any
door or liftgate open, any closed
door can be locked. Close any open
door and liftgate to lock.
xMake sure all the doors, liftgate, and
fuel-filler flap are locked after
pressing the button.
x(With double locking system)
Pressing the lock button twice within
3 seconds will activate the double
locking system.

page 3-12.
x(With theft-deterrent system)
If the lock button is pressed with all
the doors and liftgate closed, the
hazard warning lights will flash and
the theft-deterrent system is armed.
Unlock button

To unlock the driver's door and the

and the hazard warning lights will flash
twice.
