Essential Safety Equipment
SRS Air Bags
Do not attach objects on or around the area where a side air bag deploys: Attaching objects to the front seat in such a way as to cover the outboard side of the
seat in any way is dangerous. In an accident the object could interfere with the side
air bag, which infl ates from the outboard side of the front seats, impeding the added
protection of the side air bag system or redirecting the air bag in a way that is dangerous.
Furthermore, the bag could be cut open releasing the gas.
Do not hang net bags, map pouches or backpacks with side straps on the front seats.
Never use seat covers on the front seats. Always keep the side air bag modules in your
front seats free to deploy in the event of a side collision.

Do not attach objects on or around the area where a curtain air bag deploys: Attaching objects to the areas where the curtain air bag activates such as on the
windshield glass, side door glass, front and rear window pillars and along the roof edge
and assist grips is dangerous. In an accident the object could interfere with the curtain
air bag, which infl ates from the front and rear window pillars and along the roof edge,
impeding the added protection of the curtain air bag system or redirecting the air bag in
a way that is dangerous. Furthermore, the bag could be cut open releasing the gas.
Do not place hangers or any other objects on the assist grips. When hanging clothes,
hang them on the coat hook directly. Always keep the curtain air bag modules free to
deploy in the event of a side collision or roll-over accident.

Do not touch the components of the supplemental restraint system after the air bags
have infl ated:
Touching the components of the supplemental restraint system after the air bags have
infl ated is dangerous. Immediately after infl ation, they are very hot. You could get burned.

Never install any front-end equipment to your vehicle: Installation of front-end equipment, such as frontal protection bar (kangaroo bar, bull
bar, push bar, or other similar devices), snowplow, or winches, is dangerous. The air bag
crash sensor system could be aff ected. This could cause air bags to infl ate unexpectedly,
or it could prevent the air bags from infl ating during an accident. Front occupants could
be seriously injured.

Do not modify the suspension: Modifying the vehicle suspension is dangerous. If the vehicle's height or the suspension is
modifi ed, the vehicle will be unable to accurately detect a collision or roll-over accident
resulting in incorrect or unexpected air bag deployment and the possibility of serious
injuries.

Driving Tips
Driving on Uneven Road
Your vehicle's suspension and underbody can be damaged if driven on rough/uneven roads
or over speed bumps at excessive speeds. Use care and reduce speed when \
traveling on
rough/uneven roads or over speed bumps.

Use care not to damage the vehicle's underbody, bumpers or muffl er(s) when driving under
the following conditions:
   Ascending or descending a slope with a sharp transition angle  Ascending or descending a driveway or trailer ramp with a sharp transiti\
on angle



This vehicle is equipped with low pro fi le tires allowing class-leading performance and
handling. As a result, the sidewall of the tires are very thin and the tires and w\
heels can be
damaged if driven through potholes or on rough/uneven roads at excessive\
speeds. Use care
and reduce speed when traveling on rough/uneven roads or through pothole\

Towing
Trailer Towing Tips
  Verify that your Mazda maintains a near-normal attitude when a loaded or unloaded trailer
is connected. Do not drive if it has an abnormal front-up or front-down \
position. Inspect
for incorrect tongue load, worn suspension parts, and trailer overloadin\
g.
   Make sure the trailer is properly loaded and the cargo is secure to prevent it from shifting.  Make sure the mirrors conform to all government regulations. If they do \
not, install
required rear view mirrors appropriate for towing purposes.

The three main causes of vehicle-trailer accidents are driver error, excessive speed, and
improper trailer loading.
Before driving
   Have your cooling and braking system checked by an Authorized Mazda Dealer.  Before starting out, inspect the operation of all vehicle and trailer li\
ghts and all vehicle-
to-trailer connections. Stop and re-inspect all lights and connections a\
fter driving a short
distance.

Driving
   Your Mazda will handle differently with a trailer in tow, so practice turning, backing, and
stopping in a traf fi c-free area.
   Take time to get accustomed to the extra weight and length.  Allow more room between your vehicle and the one in front because brakin\
g distance
increases with a trailer. For each 16 km/h (10 mph) of speed, allow at least one vehicle
and trailer length between your Mazda and the vehicle ahead.
   Avoid jerky starts or sudden acceleration.  Avoid sudden braking. It may cause loss of control and result in jackkni fi ng, especially so
on wet or slippery roads.
   Shift the shift lever to the D position when towing a trailer in hilly t\
errain or when heavily
loaded.

The D position will allow operating the vehicle without frequent shiftin\
g.
Lane changes and turning
Avoid quick lane changes, sudden turns, and tight turns. Slow down before\
turning to avoid
the need of sudden braking.
A turning trailer will make a tighter arc than the tow vehicle. Compensat\
e with turns that are
larger than normal.

WARNING
Do not rely completely on the Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) & Lane Departure
Warning System (LDWS):
 The Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) & Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) is not an automatic driving system. In addition, the system is not designed to compensate for a
driver's lack of caution, and over-reliance on the system could lead to an accident.
 The detection ability of the Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) & Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) is limited. Always stay on course using the steering wheel and drive
with care.

Do not use the Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) & Lane Departure Warning System
(LDWS) in the following cases: The system may not operate adequately according to the actual driving conditions,
resulting in an accident.
 Driving on roads with tight curves. Driving under bad weather conditions (rain, fog, and snow). Slippery roads such as ice or snow-bound roads. Roads with heavy traffi c and insuffi cient distance between vehicles. Roads with no white (yellow) lane lines. Narrow roads resulting from road construction or lane closures. The vehicle is driven on a temporary lane or section with a closed lane resulting from road construction where there may be multiple white (yellow) lane lines or they are
interrupted.
 The tire pressures are not adjusted to the specifi ed pressure. Tires of a diff erent specifi ed size are used, such as an emergency spare tire.
CAUTION
Heed the following cautions so that the Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) & Lane Departure
Warning System (LDWS) can operate normally.
 Do not modify the suspensions. Always use wheels of the specifi ed type and size for the front and rear wheels. Consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer for tire replacement.

Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) *
Your vehicle is equipped with a Forward Sensing Camera (FSC). The Forward Sensing
Camera (FSC) is positioned near the rearview mirror and used by the fo\
llowing systems.
  High Beam Control System (HBC)  Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) & Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)  Traffi c Sign Recognition System (TSR)  Smart City Brake Support (SCBS)  Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go function (MRCC with Stop & Go\

Forward Sensing Camera (FSC)

The Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) determines the conditions ahead of th\
e vehicle while
traveling at night and detects traf fi c lanes. The distance in which the Forward Sensing
Camera (FSC) can detect objects varies depending on the surrounding co\
nditions.
WARNING
Do not modify the suspension: If the vehicle height or inclination is changed, the system will not be able to correctly
detect vehicles ahead. This will result in the system not operating normally or mistakenly
operating, which could cause a serious accident.

CAUTION
 Do not apply accessories, stickers or fi lm to the windshield near the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC).
 If the area in front of the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) lens is obstructed, it will cause the system to not operate correctly. Consequently, each system may not operate normally
which could lead to an unexpected accident.
 Do not disassemble or modify the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC). Disassembly or modifi cation of the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) will cause a malfunction or mistaken operation. Consequently, each system may not operate normally which could
lead to an unexpected accident.

CAUTION
Heed the following precautions to assure correct operation of each system.  Do not adhere stickers (including transparent stickers) to the surface of the radiator grille and front emblem in and around the radar sensor (front), and do not replace
the radiator grille and front emblem with any product that is not a genuine product
designed for use with the radar sensor (front).
 The radar sensor (front) includes a function for detecting soiling of the radar sensor's front surface and informing the driver, however, depending on the conditions, it may
require time to detect or it may not detect plastic shopping bags, ice or snow. If this
occurs, the system may not operate correctly, therefore always keep the radar sensor
(front) clean.
 Do not install a grille guard. If the front part of the vehicle has been damaged in a vehicle accident, the position of the radar sensor (front) may have moved. Stop the system immediately and always
have the vehicle inspected at an Authorized Mazda Dealer.
 Do not use the front bumper to push other vehicles or obstructions such as when pulling out of a parking space. Otherwise, the radar sensor (front) could be hit and its
position deviated.
 Do not remove, disassemble, or modify the radar sensor (front). For repairs, replacement or paint work around the radar sensor (front), consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer.
 Do not modify the suspension. If the suspension are modifi ed, the vehicle's posture could change and the radar sensor (front) may not be able to correctly detect a vehicle
ahead or an obstruction.
