Removethe unlocked cover2fromthewheel archlinerbypulling it upwards.
Toinstall:insert cover2at bottom ofthewheel archliner.
Using a suitable object, turnthe two mounts1ofthe cover2in clockwise direction asfar astheywill go.
Replacing bulbs in the halogen headlamp
RequirementsThe lighting system is switched off.
Low beam/high beam:
RA H7 55 W light bulb isavailable.
RThe hood is open.
Turnsignal lights:
RA PWY24W light bulb isavailable.
RThe cover inthe front wheel archhas beenremoved.

Turntherelevant housing cover1–3coun‐ter-clockwise andremoveit.
Low beam / high beam:turnthe socketcounter-clockwise andremoveit.
Indicator:turnthe socket counter-clockwise,release it andremoveit.
Pullthe bulb out ofthe socket.
Insertthe new bulb intothe socket suchthatthe entire base ofthe bulb isresting onthebottom ofthe socket.
Insertthe socket and turn it clockwise.
Press onthe housing cover and turn it clock‐wise.
Turnsignal lights:installthe cover inthefront wheel arch.
Changingtherear bulbs (vehicles withhalo‐gen headlamps)
Opening and closingthe side trim panels inthe trunk
Toopen:releaseright-hand or left-hand sidetrim panels1atthetop andremove.
Toclose:re-insert side trim panel1.

Replacing the tail lamp bulbs
RequirementsThe lighting system is switched off.
The side trim panel inthe trunk is open.
Turnsignal lights:
RA PY21W light bulb isavailable.
Reversing lamp:
RA W16W light bulb isavailable.
Pushthe upper and lower catches ontheplugtogether andremovethe plug.
Turnwing screw190° counter-clockwiseandremovethe bulb holder.
Indicator:push bulb2gently intothe bulbmount, turn it counter-clockwise andremoveit fromthe bulb mount.
Insertthe new bulb intothe bulb mount andturn it clockwise.
Reversing lamp:pull bulb3out ofthe bulbmount.
Insertthe new bulb intothe bulb mount.
Insertthe bulb mount again.
Turnwing screw190° clockwise.
Insertthe plug untilthe catch hooks engageaudibly.
Closethe side trim panel.

Removeprotectivefilm1fromthe mainte‐nance display onthe tip ofthe newly instal‐led wiper blades.
Ifthe color ofthe maintenance displaychangesfrom blackto yellow,the wiper blades should bereplaced.
The duration untilthe colorchangesvariesdepending onthe usage conditions.

Operatingthe outside mirrors

You could lose control ofthevehicle inthefollowing situations:
Rifyou adjustthe driver's seat,the headrestraint,thesteering wheel orthe mirrorwhilethevehicle is in motion
Rifyoufastenyour seat belt whilethevehi‐cle is in motion
Beforestartingthe engine: adjustthedriver's seat,the headrestraint,thesteering wheel orthe mirror andfastenyour seat belt.
\nWARNINGRisk of accident duetomis‐judgment of distances when usingthepassenger mirror
The outside mirror onthe front-passengersidereflects objects on a smaller scale. Theobjects in view are infact closerthantheyappear.
As aresult,you may misjudgethe distancebetweenyou andtheroad user drivingbehindyou,forexample, whenchanginglanes.
Therefore, always lookoveryour shoul‐der in ordertoensurethatyou areaware ofthe actual distance betweenyou andtheroad users driving behindyou.

Engagingthe outside mirrors
Vehicles without electricallyfolding out‐side mirrors:manually movethe outsidemirror intothe correct position.
Vehicles with electricallyfolding outsidemirrors:press and hold button1.You will hear a click andthe mirror will audi‐bly engage in position. The outside mirror issettothe correct position.
Automatic anti-glare mirrorsfunction
\nWARNINGRisk of burns and poisoningduetothe anti-glare mirror electrolyte
Electrolyte may escape iftheglass in anautomatic anti-glare mirror breaks.
The electrolyte is harmful and causes irrita‐tion. It mustnot come into contact withyourskin,eyes,respiratory organs or clothing orbe swallowed.
Ifyou come into contact with electro‐lyte, observethefollowing:RRinsethe electrolyte fromyour skinand seek medical attention immedi‐ately.
RIf electrolyte comes into contactwithyoureyes,rinsethemthor‐oughly with cleanwater and seekmedical attention immediately.
RIfthe electrolyte is swallowed,immediatelyrinseyour mouth outthoroughly. Do not inducevomiting.Seek medical attention immediately.
RImmediatelychange out of clothingwhich has come into contact withelectrolyte.
RIf an allergicreaction occurs, seekmedical attention immediately.
The insiderearview mirror andthe outside mir‐ror onthe driver's side automatically go intoanti-glare mode if light from a headlamp hitsthesensor onthe insiderearview mirror.
System limitations
The system does not go into anti-glare mode inthefollowing situations:
Rthe engine is switched off
Rreversegear is engaged
Rthe interior lighting is switched on
Function ofthe front-passenger outside mir‐ror parking position
The parking position makes parking easier.
The front-passenger outside mirror tilts down‐wards and shows therear wheel onthe front-passenger side inthefollowing situations:

The ignition is switched off again if one ofthefollowing conditions is met:
RVehicles with automatic transmission:you do notstartthevehicle within15minutes andthe transmission is in posi‐tion]orthe electric parking brake isapplied.
RYou press button1once.
Startingthevehicle
Startingthevehicle withthestart/stop but‐ton
Requirements:RThe SmartKeyis inthevehicle and isrecog‐nized.
Shiftthe transmissiontoposition]or\\.
Depressthe brake pedal and press button1once.
Ifthevehicle does notstart:switch off non-essential consumers and press button1once.
Ifthevehiclestill does notstart andthePlace the Key in the Marked Space SeeOperator's Manualdisplay message alsoappears inthe multifunction display:startthevehicle in emergency operation mode.
You can switchoffthe engine while drivingbypressing button1for aboutthree seconds orbypressing button1three times within a sec‐ond. Be suretoobservethe safety notes under"Driving tips".
Startingthevehicle in emergency operationmodeIfthevehicle does notstart andthePlace theKey in the Marked Space See Operator's Manualmessage appears inthe multifunction display,you canstartthevehicle in emergency operationmode.

RYou can carryout a maximum of two consec‐utivestarting attempts. Thevehicle must bestarted once withthe SmartKeybefore tryingtostartthevehicle again withthe smart‐phone.
