The climate control can be controlled centrallyusingthe synchronization function. Thetempera‐ture setting is automatically adoptedfor all cli‐mate zones.

Removing condensation from the windows

Ifthe windowscontinuetofog up: pressthedbutton.
Windows fogged up onthe outside
Switchonthe windshield wipers.
PresstheXbutton.
Switching air-recirculation mode on/off
Presstherbutton.The interior air will berecirculated.
Air-recirculation mode automatically switchestofresh air mode after some time.
If air-recirculation mode is switched on,thewindowsmayfog up morequickly.Switch onair-recirculation mode only briefly.
Switchingtheresidual heat on or off
Requirements:RThevehicle is parked.
It is possibletomake use oftheresidual heatfromthe enginetocontinue heating orventilat‐ingthe front compartment ofthevehicleforapproximately 30 minutes.
Toswitch on:pressthebutton.
Residual heat is switched off automatically.
Activating/deactivating ionization
Multimedia system:
VehiclebClimate ControlIonization
Ionization cleans andrefreshesthe interior air ofthevehicle. The ionization ofthe interior air isodorless.
Activatesor deactivateSthe function.

Requirements:RAutomatic climatecontrol is activated.

The power supplyis switched off again ifthefol‐lowing conditions are met:
RYou openthe driver's door
RYou press button1twice.
Toswitch onthe ignition:press button1twice.The indicator lamps inthe instrument clusterlight up.
The ignition is switched off again if one ofthefollowing conditions is met:
RVehicles with automatic transmission:you do notstartthevehicle within15minutes andthe transmission is in posi‐tion]orthe electric parking brake isapplied.
RYou press button1once.
Startingthevehicle
Startingthevehicle withthestart/stop but‐ton
Requirements:RThe SmartKeyis inthevehicle and isrecog‐nized.
Shiftthe transmissiontoposition]or\\.
Depressthe brake pedal and press button1once.
Ifthevehicle does notstart:switch off non-essential consumers and press button1once.
Ifthevehiclestill does notstart andthePlace the Key in the Marked Space SeeOperator's Manualdisplay message alsoappears inthe multifunction display:startthevehicle in emergency operation mode.
You can switchoffthe engine while drivingbypressing button1for aboutthree seconds orbypressing button1three times within a sec‐ond. Be suretoobservethe safety notes under"Driving tips".
Startingthevehicle in emergency operationmodeIfthevehicle does notstart andthePlace theKey in the Marked Space See Operator's Manualmessage appears inthe multifunction display,you canstartthevehicle in emergency operationmode.

Nevertouchthe danger zone surround‐ing moving component parts, e.g.therotation area ofthefan.
Removejewelry andwatches.
Keep items of clothing and hairawayfrom moving parts.
\nWARNINGRisk of injuryfromtouchingcomponent parts undervoltage
The ignition system andthe fuel injectionsystemworkunder highvoltage. Ifyoutouchcomponent parts which are undervoltage,you couldreceivean electric shock.
Nevertouch component parts oftheignition system orthe fuel injection sys‐tem whenthe ignition is switched on.
\nWARNINGRisk of burns from hot com‐ponent parts inthe engine compartment
Certain components inthe engine compart‐ment can beveryhot, e.g.the engine,theradiator and parts oftheexhaust system.
Allowthe enginetocool down and onlytouch component parts described inthefollowing.
\nWARNINGRisk of injuryfrom usingthewindshield wipers whilethe engine hoodis open
Whenthe engine hood is open andthe wind‐shield wipers are set in motion,you can betrappedbythe wiper linkage.
Always switch offthe windshield wipersand ignition before openingthe enginehood.
Toopen:pull lever1toreleasethe hood.

\nWARNINGRisk of entrapment ifthewindshield wipers are switched on whilethe windshield is being cleaned
Ifthe windshield wipers are set in motionwhileyou are cleaningthe windshield orwiper blades,you can be trappedbythewiper arm.
Always switch offthe windshield wipersandthe ignition before cleaningthewindshield or wiper blades.
\nWARNINGRisk of burning fromthetail‐pipe ortailpipe trim
Thetailpipe andtailpipe trim can becomeveryhot. Ifyou come into contact withthesecar parts,you could burnyourself.
Always be particularlycareful when inthe vicinity ofthetailpipe andtailpipetrims and supervisechildrenveryclosely when inthis area.
Before any contact, allowthe car partstocool down.

Notes on cleaning and careAvoidingvehicle damage
Wheels/rimsUsewater and acid-free wheel cleaners.RDo not use acidic wheel cleanerstoremovebrake dust.This could damage wheel bolts and brake components.
RToavoid corrosion ofthe brake discs and brakepads, drivethevehiclefor afew minutes after cleaning before parkingit. The brake discs and brakepadswarmup and dry out.
WindowsClean windowsinside and outside with a damp clothand witha cleaning agentrecommendedfor Mercedes-Benz.Do not use dry cloths or abrasive or solvent-based cleaningagentstocleanthe inside of windows.
Wiper bladesFold outthe wiper blades and cleanthem using a damp cloth.Do not cleanthe wiper bladestoo often.
