Overview of SmartKeyfunctions
\nWARNINGRisk of accident and injuryduetochildren left unattended inthevehicle
Ifchildren are left unattended inthevehicle,theycould:
ROpen doors,thereby endangeringotherpersons orroad users.
RGet out ofthevehicle and be hitbyoncoming traffic.
ROperate vehicle equipment and becometrapped,forexample.
In addition,children could also setthevehi‐cle in motion,forexample,by:
RReleasingthe parking brake.
RShiftingthe automatic transmission outof park position]or shifting manualtransmission into neutral.
RStartingthe engine
When leavingthevehicle, alwaystakethe SmartKeywithyou and lockthevehicle.
Never leavechildren and animals unat‐tended inthevehicle.
Keepthe SmartKeyout ofreach ofchil‐dren.

Vehicles with trunk lid convenience clos‐ingfeature:With the trunk lidstopped in anintermediate position, pull it upwards andrelease it as soon as it beginstoopen.With the trunk lid opening heightrestrictionactivated, manually pullthestopped trunk lidupwards.
Vehicles with trunk lid convenience closingfeature:If an objectrestrictsthe trunk lid duringthe automatic opening process, obstacle detec‐tion willstopthe trunk lid. The obstacle detec‐tion function is only an aid and is not a substi‐tuteforyour attentiveness.
Closingthe trunk lid
\nWARNINGRisk of injuryfrom unsecureditems inthevehicle
If objects, luggage or loads are not securedor not secured sufficiently,theycould slip,tipover or bethrown around andthereby hitvehicle occupants.
There is arisk of injury,particularly intheevent of sudden braking or a suddenchangein direction.
Alwaysstowobjects in such awaythattheycannot bethrown around.
Beforethe journey,secure objects, lug‐gageor loads against slipping or tippingover.
Comply withthe loading guidelines whenyou areloadingthevehicle.
\nWARNINGRisk of becoming trappedduring automatic closing ofthe trunk lid
Parts ofthe body could become trapped dur‐ing automatic closing ofthe trunk lid. More‐over,people, e.g.children, may bestandinginthe closing area or may enterthe closingarea duringthe closing process.
Make surethat nobody is inthe vicinityofthe closing area duringthe closingprocess.
Use one ofthefollowing optionstostopthe closing process:
RPressthe

Do not drive with theroller sun blindhooked in and side windowsopened atthe same time.
Pulltheroller sunblind outbytab1andhook it onto brackets2atthetop ofthewindow.
Extending/retractingtherear windowrollersunblind
\nWARNINGRisk of entrapment whenextending orretractingtheroller sunblind
Body parts could become entrapped inthesweep oftheroller sun blind when it is beingextended orretracted.
Makesurethat no body parts are inthesweep oftheroller sun blind when it isbeingextended orretracted.
If someone becomes trapped, brieflypressthe button again.The opening or closing process isbrieflystopped. Theroller sun blindthenreturnstoitsstarting position.

When opening a side window,parts ofthebody could be drawn in or become trappedbetweenthe side window and window frame.
When opening, make surethat nobodyistouchingthe side window.
If someone is trapped,releasethe but‐ton immediately or pull it in ordertoclosethe side window again.

Children could become trapped iftheyoper‐atethe side windows, particularly when unat‐tended.
Activatethechild safety lockfortherear side windows.
When leavingthevehicle, alwaystakethe SmartKeywithyou and lockthevehicle.
Never leavechildren unattended inthevehicle.
Requirements:RThe power supply orthe ignition is switchedon.

Automaticreversing function ofthe side win‐dowsIf an object blocksa side windowduringtheclosing process,the side window opens againautomatically.The automaticreversing functionis only an aid and is not a substituteforyourattentiveness.
When closing, make surethat no body partsare inthe closing area.

Thereversing function does notreact:
RTosoft, light andthin objects, e.g.fingers
RDuringresetting
This meansthatthereverse function cannotprevent someone from becoming trapped inthese situations.
When closing, make surethat no bodyparts are inthe closing area.
If someone becomes trapped, pressthebbuttontoopenthe side windowagain.
Convenience opening (ventilatingthevehiclebeforestarting a journey)

RThe side windowsare opened.
RThe sliding sunroof is opened.
RThe panoramic sliding sunroof is opened.
RThe seatventilation ofthe driver's seat isswitched on.
Iftheroller sunblinds ofthe panoramic slidingsunroof are closed,theroller sunblinds areopenedfirst.
Tointerruptconvenience opening:releasethe6button.
Tocontinue convenience opening:pressand holdthe6button again.

RThe side windowsare closed.

Toclosetheroller sunblinds:press andholdthe7button again.
Convenience closing can also be operatedwithKEYLESS-GO (page 70).
Problems withthe side windows

Do not allow anythingtoprotrude fromthe sliding sunroof.

When aroofrackis installed,raising or open‐ingthe sliding sunroof may be limited.
Check whetherthe sliding sunroof canberaised or opened when aroofrackisinstalled.

Automatic functions of the sliding sunroof
Theterm"sliding sunroof" alsoreferstothepanoramic sliding sunroof.
By pushing or pullingtheWbutton,you caninterruptthe automatic functions: "Rain closingfunction when driving" and "Automatic lower‐ing".
Rain closing function when drivingVehicles with a panoramic sliding sunroof:Ifitstartstorain,theraised sliding sunroof isautomatically lowered whilethevehicle is inmotion.
Automatic lowering functionVehicles with a panoramic sliding sunroof:Ifthe sliding sunroof israised attherear, it isautomatically lowered slightly at higher speeds.Atlow speeds, it israised again automatically.
\nWARNINGRisk of entrapmentbyauto‐matic lowering ofthe sliding sunroof
Athigh speedstheraised sliding sunroofautomatically lowersslightly attherear.
This could trapyou orother persons.
Make surethat nobodyreaches intothesweep ofthe sliding sunroof whilstthevehicle is in motion.
If somebody becomes trapped, brieflypushthe sliding sunroof buttonfor‐wards or backwards.The sliding sunroof lifts during opening.
