XRemove the cover in the front wheel
housing (Ypage 112).
XTurn housing covercounter-clockwise
and pull it out.
XTurn bulb holdercounter-clockwise and
pull it out.
XTake the bulb out of bulb holder.
XInsertthe new bulb into bulb holder.
XInsert bulb holderinto the lamp and turn
it clockwise.
XAlign housing coverand turn it
clockwise until it engages.
XReplace the cover in the front wheel
housing (Ypage 112).
High-beam headlamps/daytime
running lamps/parking lamps/
standing lamps (vehicles with halogen
headlamps)
XSwitch off the lights.
XOpen the hood.
XTurn housing covercounter-clockwise
and pull it out.
XTurn bulbcounter-clockwise and pull it
out.
XInsert the new bulb and engage it to the
stop.
XAlign housing coverand turn it
clockwise until it engages.
Turn signals (halogen headlamps)
XSwitch off the lights.
XOpen the hood.
XTurn bulb holdercounter-clockwise and
pull it out.
XTake the bulb out of bulb holder.
XInsert the new bulb into bulb holder.
XInsert bulb holderand turn it clockwise
until it engages.

XSwitch off the lights.
XOpen the hood.
XTurn housing covercounter-clockwise
and pull it out.

XTake the bulb out of bulb holder.
XInsert the new bulb into bulb holder.

Changing the rear bulbs

You must open the side trim panel in the trunk
before you can change the bulbs in the tail
lamps.
Left-hand side trim panel
XTo open:turn release knob90° in the
direction of the arrow and remove side trim
panel.
XTo close:insert side trim paneland turn
release knob90° in the opposite
direction to the arrow.
Right-hand side trim panel
XTo open:loosenside trim panelat the
top and fold it down in the direction of the
arrow.
XTo close:insert side panel.
Tail lamp
XSwitch off the lights.
XOpen the trunk.
XOpen the side trim panel (Ypage 114).
XRelease and remove connector.
XPress retaining clipsat the same time in
the direction of the arrows.
XPull the bulb holder out with the bulbs.

XBrake lamp/rear fog lamp/backup
lamp:remove the corresponding bulb from
the bulb holder.
XInsert the new bulb into the bulb holder.
XTurn signal lamp:lightly press the bulb
into the bulb holder, turn it counter-
clockwise and remove it from bulb holder.
XInsert the new bulb into the bulb holderand
turn it clockwise.
XReinsert the bulb holderand engage on
retaining clips.
XRe-establish contact with the connector.
XClose the side trim panel (Ypage 114).
Windshieldwipers
Switching the windshield wipers on/
off
!Do not operate the windshield wipers
when the windshield is dry, as this could
damage the wiper blades. Moreover, dust
that has collected on the windshield can
scratch the glass if wiping takes place when
the windshield is dry.
If it is necessary to switch on the windshield
wipers in dry weather conditions, always
use washer fluid when operating the
windshield wipers.
!If the windshield wipers leave smears on
the windshield after the vehicle has been
washed in an automatic car wash, wax or
other residues may be the reason for this.
Clean the windshield using washer fluid
after washing the vehicle in an automatic
car wash.

!Vehicles with a rain sensor: if the
windshield becomes dirty in dry weather
conditions, the windshield wipers may be
activated inadvertently. This could then
damage the windshield wiper blades or
scratch the windshield.
For this reason, you should always switch
off the windshield wipers in dry weather.

frequency is automatically set according to
the intensity of the rain. In theposition,
the rainsensor is more sensitive than in
the
position, causing the windshield
wipers to wipe more frequently.
If the wiper blades are worn, the windshield
will no longer be wiped properly. This could
prevent you from observing the traffic
conditions.Replace the wiper blades twice a
year, ideally in spring and fall.

XWait foraperiod of at least 60 seconds until the necessary
system checks have been completed.
XMake sure that the display messages do not appear in the
multifunction display.
If these conditions are fulfilled, the front-passenger seat can be
occupied again. Whether the PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator
lamp remains lit or goes out depends on how OCS classifies the
occupant.
If the conditions are not fulfilled, the system is not operating
correctly.
