The restraint systemcanreduce therisk ofvehi-
cle occupants comingintocont actwith parts of
the vehicle's interiorinthe event ofan accident.
The restraint systemcanalso reduce theforces
to which vehicle occupants aresubjected during
an accident.
The restraint systemcomprises:
R Seat beltsystem
R Air bags
R Child restraint system
R Child seatsecuring systems
The componen tsof the restraint systemworkin
conj unction witheach other. Theycanonly
deploy theirprotect ivefunct ionif,at all times, all
vehicle occupants:
R have fastened theirseatbelts correct ly

R have theseat andhead restraint adjusted

An airbag supplements acorrect lyworn seat
belt. Asanadditional safetydevice, theairbag
increases thelevel ofprotect ionforvehicle
occupants inthe event ofan accident. Forexam-
ple, if,inthe event ofan accident, theprotect ion
offered bythe seat beltissufficient, theairbags
are not deploye d.When anaccident occurs,only
the airbags thatincrease protectioninthat par-
ticular accident situation aredeploye d.How-
ever, seatbelts andairbags generally donot
protect againstobjectspenetrat ingthe vehicle
from theoutside.

You canopen adoor from inside thevehicle
even ifit has been locked. Youcanopen therear
doors frominside thevehicle unlesstheyare
secured bythe child-proof lock(Ypage 60).
If the vehicle haspreviously beenlocked with
the SmartK eyfrom theoutside, opening adoor
from theinside willtrigger theanti-t heftalarm
system. Switchoffthe alarm (Ypage 68).
If alocked doorisopened fromtheinside, the
previous unlockstatusofthe vehicle willbe
taken intoconsideration if:

The system automatically switchesdownfrom
level 3to level 2after approximately eight
minutes. The

Vehicles witharain sensor: inthe 0062 or0063
position, theappropriate wipingfrequency is
automatically setaccordin gto the inten sityof
the rain. Inthe 0063 position, therain sensor is
more sensit ivethan inthe 0062 position, caus-
ing the windshield wipertowipe more fre-
quently.
If the wiper blades areworn, thewindshield will
no longer bewiped properly. Thiscould prevent
you from observing thetraff iccondit ions. 108

matic climate control regulates thetemper ature
and thehumidity ofthe vehicle interiorand fil-
ters undesirable substancesfrom theair.
The air-con ditionin gsystem ordual-zon eauto-
matic climate control can only beoperated
when theengin eis runn ing.Optimum operation
is only achieved withtheside windows andpan-
orama roofwith power tilt/sliding panelclosed.
If you start theengine usingyoursmart phone,
the last select edclimate control settingisreac-
tivat ed(Ypage 83).
The residual heatfunctioncanonly beactivat ed
or deactivat edwith theignition switched off
(Y page 120). Always
keepthevent ilation flapsbehind the
side trimpanel inthe cargo compart mentclear
(Y page 107). Otherwisethevehicle willnotbe
vent ilated correctly.
