When star
ting the engine and whilst driving,
KEYLESS-GO also checks whether avalid key
is in the vehicle by periodicall yestablishing
radio con tact. X
To unlock the vehicle: touch the inner
surface of the door handle.
X To lock the vehicle: touch sensorsur-
face :.
If you pull on the handle of the boot lid, only
the boot of the vehicle is unlocked.
i If the vehicle has been parked for along
time, you must pull the door handl etoacti-
vate the KEYLESS-GO functions. Changing the setting
softhe locking
system
Yo uc an change the setting of the locking
system in such away that only the driver's
door and the fuel filler flap are unlocked. This
is useful if you frequently travel on your own.
X To change the setting: Press the%
and & buttons simultaneously for
approximately six seconds until the battery
check lamp flashes twice.
The key now functions as follows:
X To unlock the driver's door: press the
% button once.
X To unlock centrally: press the%but-
ton twice.
X To lock centrally: press the&button. The KEYLESS-GO function is changed as fol-
lows:
X
To unlock the driver's door: touch the
inner surface of the door handle on the
driver' sdoor.
X To unlock centrally: touchthe inner sur-
face of the front-passenger door handle.
X To lock centrally: touchsensor sur-
face :on one of the door handles. Restoring the factor
ysettings
X Press the %and& buttons simulta-
neously for approximately six seconds until
the battery check lamp flashes twice. Emergency key element
General notes If the vehicle can no longer be locked or
unlocked with the key, use the emergency
key element.
If you use the emergency key element to
unlock and open the driver's door or the boot
lid, the anti-theft alarm system will be trig-
gered (Y
page 61).
There are several ways to turn off the alarm:
X Press the %or& button on the key.
or
X Insert the key into the ignition lock.
or
X Press the Star t/Stop butto ninthe ignition
lock .The key must be in the vehicle.
or
X Loc koru nlock the vehicl eusing KEYL ESS-
GO. The key must be outside the vehicle. Key

cle using KEYLESS-GO. KEYLESS-GO is in standby mode because the vehicle has not been
unlocked for an extended period.

Pull the door handle and then turn the key to position 2in the
ignition lock. There is
afault with KEYLESS-GO.
X Lock/unlock the vehicle using the remote control function of
the key. Point the tip of the key at the driver' sdoor handl efrom
close rang eand pres sthe %/ &button.
X Hav ethe key chec kedataq ualified specialist workshop. There is interference from
apowerfu lsource of radio waves.
X Lock/unloc kthe vehicle usin gthe remote con trolfunction of
the key. Point the tip of the key at the driver' sdoor handl efrom

Hav ethe key cancelled at aMercedes-Benz Servic eCentre.
X Report the loss immediately to the vehicle insurers.
X If necessary, have the locks changed as well. You have lost the emer-

Unlocking and opening doors from
the inside
You can open adoor from inside the vehicle
even if it has been locked. X
Pull door handle ;.
If the door is locked, locking knob :pops
up. The door is unlocked and can be
opened.
i When adoor is opened, the side window
on that side opens slightly .When the door
is closed ,the side window closes again. !
The side windows will not open/close if
the battery is discharged or if the side win-
dows hav eiced up. It wil lthen not be pos-
sible to close the door. Do not attemp tto
force th edoor to close. You coul dother-
wise damage the doo rorthe side window. Centrally locking and unlocking the

Risk of accident
Do not leav echildren unsupervised in the
vehicle. They coul dopen adoor from the

the ignition is switched on and the wheels
begi ntot urn. There is arisk of being locked
out when the vehicle is being pushed or
tested on adynamometer. X

X To activate: press and hold button ;for

tion on and off using the on-board computer

If the vehicle can no longer be unlocked cen-
trally with the key or KEYL ESS-GO: X
Take the emergency key element out of the
key (Y page67). X
Insert the emergency key element into the
lock of the driver's door as far as it wil lgo.
X Tur nthe emergenc ykey elemen tanti-
clockwise to position 1.

i On right -hand-drive vehicles, turn the
emergenc ykey elemen tclockwise.
X Turn the emergenc ykey elemen tback and

Open the driver' sdoor.
X Close the front-passenger door and the
boot lid.
X Press the lockin gbutton (Y page 70).
X Make sure that the locking knob on the
front-passenger door is still visible. Press
down the locking knob by hand, if neces-
sary.
X Close the driver' sdoor.
X Take the emergenc ykey elemen tout of the

Never leav echildren unsupervised in the vehi-
cle. Always tak ethe key with you when leaving
the vehicle, even if you ar eonly leaving it for

restraint system .The children could:
R be seriously or even fatall yinjured on parts
of the vehicle
R be seriously or even fatally injured by pro-
longed exposure to extremely hig hor

If children open adoor, they could:
R seriously or even fatally injure other people
R get out of the vehicle and injure them-
selves, or be seriously or even fatally
injure dbyap assing vehicle
Activate the override feature if children are
travelling in the vehicle. They could otherwise
open side windows while the vehicle is in
motion and thereby injure themselves or oth-

The switches for all side windows are located
on the driver' sdoor. There is also aswitch on
the front-passenger door as well as on the
doors in the rear compartmen tonthe lef tand
right-hand sides for the respective sid ewin-
dow.
X Turn the key to position 2in the ignition
lock.
i You can continue to operate the side win-
dows after you switch off the engine. This
func tion remains active for fiv eminutes or
until one of the doors is opened.
X To open: press the corresponding switch.
X To close: pull the corresponding switch.
i When opening or closing the front side
windows you can start automatic opera-
tion. To do so, press or pull the switch to
just beyond the point of resistance in the
relevan tdirection .You can stop automatic
operation by pressin gorpulling again. 74

Risk of accident and injury
Onl ydrive with th esoft top fully ope nor
closed.
If the soft top doe snot ope norclose fully, the
soft-top hydraulics are depressurised and the
soft top is lowered:
R after about seven minutes if the ignition is
switched on
R immediately if the ignition is switched off
Aw arning ton esounds shortly beforehand.
The Topb eing opened messageappear sin
the multifunction display.
Loc kthe soft top again befor edriving on. Oth-
erwise, th eunlocke dsoft top coul dopen dur-
ing the journey and cause you to lose control
of your vehicle. You or other persons could be
injured as aresult.
! Never sit on the soft-top compartment
cover and do not store any heavy objects
on it. You will otherwise damage the soft
top and soft-top compartmen tcover of the
vehicle.
! The soft top swings upwards when it is
opened or closed. In order to avoid dam-
aging the soft top or other parts of the vehi-
cle when openin gorclosing the soft top,
observe the following:
R there must be sufficient clearance above
the vehicle.
R the boot separator must be closed and
must not be pushed upwards by the load.
R there must not be any object sonthe
soft -top compartmen tcover.
R the boot lid must be closed.
R the fabric must not be dirty, wet or fro-

Risk of injury
Make sure nobody can be trapped or injured
by movin gparts, such as the soft-top linkage
or soft-top compartmen tcover ,when opening
or closing the soft top.
Release the soft -top switc hinthe even tof
danger .The soft -top mechanism stops imme-
diately. G
Risk of accident
If the vehicle speed exceeds 40 km /h,the
soft top stops the openin gorclosing move-
ment and remain sinthat position. This could
impair your rea rview. At high speeds, the soft
top may be damaged.
Reduce your speed to below 40 km/ horstop
the vehicle in accordanc ewith the traffic con-
ditions. Press the soft-top switc hagain in
order to open or clos ethe soft top fully.
i Make sure the soft top is dry befor eclos-
ing it. Otherwise, water could enter the
interior or boot.

Make sure that the boot separator is closed
(Y page 83).
X Close the boot lid.
X Turn the key to position 2in the ignition
lock.
X Open the cover on the lower centr econ-

Remove wristwatches and any jewellery such
as rings or bracelets. You could otherwise get
caught, injured and damage the vehicle.
Always grip the soft top at the indicated grip-
ping point swhen closing the soft top man-
ually. You coul dotherwis ebeinjured.
X Depress the parking brake.
X Ope nthe side windows.
X Lower the head restraint s(automatically
(Y page 95) or manually (Y page95)).
X Remove the key from the ignition lock.
X Open the boot.
X Take the two st raps out of the vehicle tool
kit (Y page 27 4).
X Take the hex-socket wren chout of the
Owner 'sManual wallet and keep it with
you. X

shop, e.g. aMercedes-Benz Service
Centre.
i Press the soft-top compartmen tcover
again if the boot lid can notb eo pened.
! Do not under any circumstances open the
boot lid with the emergenc ykey. You could
otherwise damage the boot lid and the soft-
top compartmen tcover. Re-locking th
esoft top
The soft top is not locked if:
R the Topino peration message appears
in th emultifunction display.
R you hear awarning ton efor up to ten sec-
onds when pullin gaway or while driving.
You can lock the soft top again if it is not
locked fully.
X Stop the vehicle immediately, paying atten-
tion to road and traf ficc onditions.
X Tur nthe key to position 2in the ignition
lock.
X Press the soft -top switch. Boot sepa
rator
General notes The boot separator can be used to cover lug-
gage and loads in the boot.
The soft top can only be opened when the
boot separator is closed.
!
To avoid damaging the soft top or load
when folding back the soft top, observe the
following:
R when the boot separator is open, do not
place any object sinorbehind the net on
the side that are so long they could
obstruct the boot separator or damage
the opened soft top.
R mak esure that the load does not push
the boot separator upwards.

To close: pull boot separator :by the
handle in the direction of the arrow until it
rest sont he sides of the boot.
The boot separator finishes closing auto-
matically.
X To open: push boot separator :against
the direction of the arrow by the handle.
The boot separator finishes opening auto-

Risk of accident
Yo uc oul dcause an accident if your rea rview
is limited by darkness or other conditions.
Therefore, fold back the upper section of the
draught stop if it restricts your vision or when
it is dark.
! Mercedes-Benz recommends that you
only use draught stops which have been
tested and approved for Mercedes-Benz
vehicles. This helps to prevent damage to
the vehicle.
! Observe the backrest position of the front
seats if the draught stop is installed, since
the backrest could collide with the draught
stop here. X
When installing the draught stop, use lat-
eral brackets :.
Observe the manufacturer' sinstallation
instructi ons. AIRCAP
General notes With AIRCAP, four people can travel comfort-
ably with the soft top down. AIRCAP reduces
the draugh tfor the driver and passenger sin
both the fron tand the rear compartment in a
vehicl ewith the soft top down. You can open
or close AIRCAP either when the vehicle is stationary or when drivin
guptoa speed of
16 0k m/h.

When extending and retractin gAIRCAP, make
sure that no on ecan become trapped. If there
is ar isk of entrapment ,pres sthe button again
to ret ract AIRCAP again.

men tthen fasten their seat belts, the head
rest raints in the rear bench seats and AIRCAP
draught stop =move to the upper position.

your vehicl ewith the soft top down and
remov ethe key ,the win ddeflec tora nd the
hea drestraint sinthe rea rcompartment
ret ract automatically. When you return to
your vehicle and start the engine again, the
wind deflector and the head rest raints in
the rear compar tment are extended again.
i AIRCAP can notb ee xtende dorretracted
if the vehicle speed exceeds 16 0km/h. Ret
racting AIRCAP X
Turn the key to position 2in the ignition
lock.
X Open the cover on the lower centre con-
sole.
X Press AIRCAP button :.
The two indicato rlamps on the AIRCAP but-
ton go out. Wind deflector ;retra cts. The
head rest raints on the rear bench seats and
AIRCAP draught stop =move to the low-
est position simultaneously.
i If there are passengers wearing seat belts
in the rear compartment, the head
restraints on the rear bench seats and the
AIRCAP draught stop remain in the upper
position.
Retracting the head restraints on the
rear bench seats from the driver's seat To improv
ethe rea rview, you can retrac tthe
head restraint sonthe rea rbench seats indi-
vidually (Y page 95). The wind deflector
remains in its curren tposition. Fitting/removing th
eAIRCAP draught
stop
Preparation You will need
a4mmhex-socket wrench to
fit/remov ethe AIRCA Pdraugh tstop.
Before fitting or removing the AIRCAP draught
stop:
X Turn the key to pos ition 2in the ignition
lock.
X Open the folding roof fully (Y page77).
X Extend the head restraints in the rear com-
part ment fully (Y page95). Soft top (Cabriolet)
