Removing the storage box
Fold rear seat backrest3 forward
(page 266).

Slide locking hooks4 of storage
box1 forward out of the retainers.

Pull storage box1 to the rear and re-
move it from cargo compartment.

Twin roller blind
The twin roller blind contains a cargo net
and a cargo compartment cover.
It is located on the seat backrest of the
rear bench seat.

Pull cargo net 1 up and hook it onto
mountings 2.
Warning!

The cargo net cannot hold back heavy loads.
The transported load should therefore al-
ways be tied down.
Objects which are insufficiently secured
could otherwise injure you if they are thrown
around in the event of an accident, during
hard braking or steering maneuvers.

You can use the cargo net even when the
rear seat backrest is folded forward. The cargo
net should then be hooked onto the front mount-
ings.

The cargo compartment cover unlocks
automatically while the tailgate is open-
ing/closing and is automatically raised/
lowered.
It is therefore unnecessary to roll up the
cargo compartment cover before loading

Rolling up the cargo compartment cover

Use handle1 to pull cargo compart-
ment cover2 down into the horizontal
position.

Unhook cargo compartment cover
from its anchorages on the left and
right sides.
To do so, pull cargo compartment
cover2 slightly towards the rear and
lower it.

Slowly guide cargo compartment
cover2 back until it stops. Pulling out the cargo compartment cov-
er

towards the rear until it engages.
Removing the twin roller blind

Roll up cargo net and cargo compart-
ment cover.

Fold both rear seat cushions forward
(page 266).

First swing the right-hand and then the
left-hand backrest of the rear seat for-
ward (
page 266).

Push twin roller blind to the left out of
its anchorage on the rear seat backrest
and remove it.

When loading the vehicle, make sure not to
load the cargo compartment over the lower edge
of the side windows.
The twin roller blind could otherwise be damaged
when the tailgate is being closed.

Vehicles without a third seat bench
(E 63 AMG only) - storage space under the cargo compartment floor
The vehicle tool kit and jack are stored un-
der the rear cargo compartment floor. A
loading tray and a folding box are located
under the front cargo compartment floor.

order to remove crossbar4. To do so, push the

or the front cargo compartment floor.

Briefly press the front of the rear arm-
rest.
The cup holder extends automatically.

Make sure that the cup holder is correctly
positioned in the guides while you are reinstall-
ing it. Otherwise the cup holder can be damaged.

Do not sit on or lean your body weight
against the armrest when it is folded down, as
you could otherwise damage it.

Install insert by pushing it back into

Remove front ashtray only with vehicle
standing still. Set the parking brake to se-
cure vehicle from movement. Move gear se-
lector lever to positionN. With gear selector
lever in positionN, turn off the engine.

Install insert by pushing it back into
ashtray frame until it engages again.
Cigarette lighterWarning!

Never touch the heating element or sides of
the lighter; they are extremely hot. Hold the
knob only.
Make sure that any children traveling with
you do not injure themselves or start a fire
with the hot cigarette lighter.
When leaving the vehicle, always remove the
SmartKey or the SmartKey with
KEYLESS-GO* from the starter switch, take
it with you, and lock the vehicle. Do not
leave children unattended in the vehicle, or
with access to an unlocked vehicle. A child’s
unsupervised access to a vehicle could re-
sult in an accident and/or serious personal
injury.

Tele Aid
Shortly after the completion of your ac-
quaintance call, you will receive a user ID
and password. By visiting
www.mbusa.com and selecting “Tele Aid”
(USA only), you will have access to account
information, remote door unlock and
more.!
The initial activation of the Tele Aid system
may only be performed by completing the sub-
scriber agreement and placing an acquaintance
call using button¡. Failure to complete ei-
ther of these steps will result in a system that is
not activated.

please call the Response Center at
1-800-756-9018 (in the USA) or
1-888-923-8367 (in Canada).

Useful features
Remote door unlock
In case you have locked your vehicle unin-
tentionally (e.g. SmartKey inside vehicle),
and the reserve SmartKey is not handy:
Contact the Mercedes-Benz Response
Center at 1-800-756-9018 (in the USA)
or 1-888-923-8367 (in Canada).
You will be asked to provide your pass-
word which you provided when you
completed the subscriber agreement.

Then return to your vehicle and pull the
tailgate recessed handle for a minimum
of 20 seconds until the SOS button is
flashing.
The message
Call connected
appears
in the multifunction display.
As an alternative, you may unlock the vehi-
cle via Internet using the ID and password
sent to you shortly after the completion of
your acquaintance call.
The Response Center will then unlock your
vehicle with the remote door unlocking
feature.Stolen Vehicle Recovery services
In the event your vehicle was stolen:

Report the incident to the police.
The police will issue a numbered inci-
dent report.

Pass this number on to the
Mercedes-Benz Response Center along
with your password issued to you when
you subscribed to the service.
The Response Center will then attempt
to covertly contact the vehicle’s
Tele Aid system. Once the vehicle is lo-
cated, the Response Center will con-
tact the local law enforcement and you.
The vehicle’s location will only be pro-
vided to law enforcement.

The remote door unlock feature is available
if the relevant cellular phone network is avail-
able.
The SOS button will flash and the message
Call connected
will appear in the multifunc-
tion display to indicate receipt of the door unlock
command.
Once the vehicle is unlocked, a Response Center
specialist will attempt to establish voice contact
with the vehicle occupants.
If the tailgate recessed handle was pulled for
more than 20 seconds before door unlock autho-
rization was received by the Response Center,
you must wait 15 minutes before pulling the tail-
gate recessed handle again.

When the anti-theft alarm stays on for more
than 30 seconds, a call is initiated automatically
to the Response Center. See anti-theft alarm
system (
page 106).
