limp-home mode
Driving in emer gency mode impai rsthe han-
dling characteristics of theve hicle. #
Do not exceed the permissible maximum
speed of the MOExtended tyres. #
Avoid any abrupt steering and driving
manoeuvres as well as driving over
obstacles (kerbs, pot holes, o.-road).
This applies, in particular, toa loaded
ve hicle. #
Stop driving in the emer gency mode if

R Snow chains are only permissible for cer tain
wheel/tyre combinations. You can obtain
information about this from a Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre.
R For saf etyre asons, only use snow chains that

cle byMercedes-Benz, or snow chains with
th e same quality standard.

R The tyres can burst.
R The tyres can wearexcessively and/or
une venly. R
The driving characteristics as well as the
stee ring and braking characteristics may
be greatly impaired. #
Comply with there commended tyre
pressure and check the tyre pressure of
all tyres, including the spare wheel, regu-
lar ly:
R monthly
R when the load changes
R before embarking on a lon ger journey
R if operating conditions change, e.g. o.-
ro ad driving #
Adjust the tyre pressure, if necessar y. Ty
re pressure which is too high or too low can:
R Shor tenth e service life of the tyres.
R Cause increased tyre damage.
R Adve rsely a.ect driving characteristics and

The wheels could come loose if the wheel
bolts or wheel nuts are not tightened tothe
prescribed torque. #
Ensure that the wheel bolts or wheel
nuts are tightened tothe prescribed
tightening torque. #
Ifyo u are not sure, do not mo vetheve hi-
cle. Con tact a quali/ed specialist work-
shop and ha vethe tightening torque

Check the tyre pressure of the ne wly/tted
wheel and adjust it if necessar y.

The wheel or tyre size and the tyre type of the
emer gency spa rewheel or spare wheel and
th e wheel tobe replaced may di.er. The emer-
ge ncy spa rewheel or spare wheel can signi/-
cantly impair driving characteristics of the
ve hicle.
To prev ent hazardous situations: #
Drive carefull y. #
Never /t more than one emer gency
spa rewheel or spare wheel that di.ers
in size. #
Only use an emer gency spa rewheel or
spare wheel brie0y. #
Do not deacti vate ESP ®
. #
Have the emer gency spa rewheel or
spare wheel of a di.erent size replaced
at the nearest quali/ed specialist work- shop. The new wheel must ha

emer gency spa rewheel /tted is 80 km/h.

R Check the tyre pressure of the emer gency
spa rewheel /tted. Cor rect the pressure as
necessar y.
