very rare occasions, Adaptive Highbeam
Assist Plus may failto recognise other road
users that ha velights, or may recognise
th em too late.
In this, or in similar situations, the automatic
main beam will not be deactivated or will be
activated despite the presence of other road
users. #
Alw ays obser vethe tra ffic carefully and
switch off the main beam in good time. Ad
aptive Highbeam Assist Plus cannot take into
account road, weather or traf fic conditions.
De tection may be restricted in thefo llowing
cases:
R In poor visibilit y,e.g. fog, heavy rain or snow
R Ifth ere is dirt on the sensors or the sensors
are obscured

Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus is available
on ly in vehicles with Intelligent Light Sy stem. The
Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus automati‐
cally swit ches between thefo llowing types of
light:
R Low beam
R Partial high beam
R High beam R
ULTRA RANGE Highbeam
ULTRA RANGE Highbeam inc reases the bright‐
ness of the cone of light tothe legally permitted
maximum.
Pa rtial high beam uses the high beam toshine
past other road users rath er than dazzling them.
The vehicle in front will be illuminated bythe low
beam.
At speeds below 25 km/h or when there is suf fi‐
cient stre et lighting:
R The partial high beam and the high beam will
be switched off automaticall y.
At speeds greater than 30 km/h:
R If no other road users are de tected, the high
beam will be switched on automaticall y.
R Ifot her road users are de tected, the partial
high beam will be switched on automaticall y.
At speeds abo ve40 km/h:

ro und lighting is deactivated and the automatic
driving lights are activated.
Illuminated side running boards: whenthe
sur round lighting is swit ched on, the illumination
of theru nning boards is acti vated when a door is
opened. If the door is not closed, theru nning
board cou rtesy lighting is automatically deactiva‐
te d af ter 40 seconds. #

Engaging the outside mir rors
If an outside mir ror has been forc ibly disen‐
ga ge d, proceed as follo ws. #
Vehicles without electrically folding outside
mir rors: manually push the outside mir ror
into the cor rect position. #
Vehicles with electrically folding outside mir‐
ro rs: press and hold button 2.
Yo u will hear a click and the mir ror will audi‐
bly click into place. The outside mir ror will
now be set tothe cor rect position. Au
tomatic anti-dazzle mir rors function &
WARNING Risk of acid bu rns and poi‐
soning due tothe anti-dazzle mir ror elec‐
trolyte
Electrolyte may escape if theglass in an
automatic anti-dazzle mir ror breaks.
The electrolyte is hazardous tohealth and
causes ir rita tion. It mu stnot come into con‐
ta ct wi thyour skin, eyes,respiratory or gans
or clo thing or be swallo wed. #
Ifyo u come into contact with electro‐
ly te , obser vethefo llowing:
R Immediately rinse the electrolyte
from your skin with water and seek
medical attention.
R If electrolyte comes into contact
with your eyes, immediately rinse
th em thoroughly with clean water

anti-dazzle mode if light from a headlamp hits

Sy stem limits
The sy stem will not go into anti-dazzle mode if:
R The engine is switched off.
R Reversege ar is engaged.
R The interior lighting is swit ched on. Fr

The pa rking position is available on ly invehi‐
cles with a memory function.
The parking position makes parking easier. Light and sight

This also applies when the engine or parts of the
driv etra in ha vebeen replaced.

th e sensors adjust automatically while a cer‐

has been delivered or af terre pairs. Full sys‐
te m ef fectiveness is not reached until the
end of this teach-in process.
R brakepads, brake discs and tyres that are
either new or ha vebeen replaced only ach‐
ie ve optimum braking ef fect and grip af ter
se veral hundred kilom etre s of driving. Com‐
pensate forth ere duced braking ef fect by
applying greaterfo rc eto the brake pedal. Note
s on optimised acceleration If all necessary
requ irements and activation con‐
ditions are fulfilled, the best possible accelera‐
tion can be achie ved from a standstill.
Do not use the optimised acceleration on public
ro ads. Individual wheels could spin and you
could lose control of theve hicle. There is an
increased risk of skidding and/or accident.

and do not relie ve you of your responsibility per‐

traf fic conditions at all times and inter vene
when necessa ry. Be aware of the limitations
re ga rding the safe use of these sy stems. Information on
radar and ultrasonic senso rsSome driving and driving sa
fety sy stems use
ra dar or ultrasonic sensors tomonitor the area in front of, behind or next
totheve hicle (depend‐
ing on theve hicle's equipment).
Depending on theve hicle's equipment, thera dar
sensors are integrated behind the bumpers
and/or behind thera diator grille. The ultrasonic
sensors are located in the front and rear bump‐
ers. Keep these parts free of dirt, ice and slush
(/ page 531). The sensors must not be cov‐
ered, forex ample bybicycle rack s, ove rhanging
loads, sticke rs,fo il or foils toprotect against
st one chipping. Additional licence plate brac kets
can li kewise impair the function of the ultrasonic
sensors. In theev ent of damage tothe bumpers
or radiator grille, or following a collision impact‐
ing the bumpers or radiator grille, ha vethe func‐
tion of the sensors checked at a qualified spe‐
cialist workshop. If the sensors are damaged,
some driving sy stems and driving saf ety sy stems

ev en more noticeable warning.
If th eve hicle is tr avelling at speeds of more than
70 km/h at the beginning of the brake applica‐
tion, the hazard warning lights switch on once
th eve hicle is stationar y.When you pull away
again, the hazard warning lights will switch off
automatically at appr oximately 10km/h. Yo u
