Yo u could lose control of theve hicle in partic-
ular in thefo llowing situations:
R Ifyo u adjust the driver's seat, the head
re straints, the steering wheel or the mir ror
while theve hicle is in motion.
R Ifyo ufa sten your seat belt while theve hi-
cle is in motion. #
Before starting the engine: adjust the
driver's seat, head restraints, stee ring
wheel and mir ror in particular and fasten
yo ur seat belt. Ensure
thefo llowing when adjusting steering
wheel 1, seat belt 2and driver's seat 3:
R You are sitting as farawa y from the driver's
airbag as possible, taking thefo llowing points
into consideration:
R You are sitting in an upright position
R Your thighs are slightly suppor tedby the seat
cushion R
Your legs are not fully extended and you can
depress the pedals proper ly
R The back of your head is suppor ted at eye
le ve lby the centre of the head restraint
R You can hold the steering wheel with your
arms slightly bent
R You can mo veyour legs freely
R You can see all the displa yson the inst rument
cluster clear ly
R You ha vea good overview of the tra1c condi-
tions
R Your seat belt sits snugly against your body
and passes across the centre of your shoulder

ing seat adjustment
When you adjust a seat, you or other vehicle
occupants could become trapped, e.g. on the
seat guide rail. #
Make sure when adjusting a seat that no
one has any body parts in the sweep of
th e seat. Obser

dren in theve hicle". &

seat height is adjusted carelessly
If yo u adjust the seat height carelessl y,yo u or
ot her vehicle occupants could be trapped and
th ereby injured. Children in particular could accidentally press

e electrical seat adjustment buttons and
become trapped. #
While moving the seats, make sure that
hands or other body parts do not get
under the le ver assembly ofthe seat
adjustment system. &

ARNING Risk of injury due tohead
re straints not being /tted or being adjus-
te d incor rectly
If head restraints ha venot been installed or
ha ve not been adjusted cor rectl y,there is an
increased risk of injury in the head and neck
area, e.g. in theeve nt of an accident or when
braking. #
Always drive with the head restraints /t-
te d. #
Before driving o., make sure forev ery
ve hicle occupant that the centre of the
head restraint supports the back of the

Do not inter
change the head restraints of the
front and rear seats. Otherwise, you will not be
able toadjust the height and angle of the head
re straints co rrectl y.
Ad just the head restraint fore -and-aT position so
th at it is as close as possible tothe back of your
head. &

incor rect seat position
The seat belt will not o.er the intended le vel
of pr otection if you ha venot mo vedth e seat
backrest toan almost vertical position.
In particular, you may slip under the seatbelt
and injure yourself. #
Adjust the seat proper lybefore begin-
ning your journe y. #
Always ensu rethat the seat backrest is
in an almost vertical position and that
th e shoulder section of your seat belt is
ro uted across the centre of your shoul-
der. &

WARNING
ARNING Risk of injury due toexcessive
st ra in on thegr ab handle
If yo u apply your full body weight tothegr ab
handle or pull it abruptl y,thegr ab handle may
be damaged or become loose from its anchor-
age. #
Use thegr ab handles only tostabilise
th e seating position or toassist in get-
ting in and out of the seat. &

ARNING Risk of injury or death due to
objects under the co-driver seat
Objects trapped under the co-driver seat can
inter fere with the function of the automatic
co-driver airbag shuto. or damage the system. #
Do not store any objects under the co-
driver seat. #
When the co-driver seat is occupied,
make sure that no objects are trapped
under the co-driver seat. 1

If th e seat backrest of there ar seat is folded
fo rw ards, persons in theth ird row of seats
may hit parts of the seat mechanism, espe-
cially in theeve nt of an accident, braking
manoeuvre or abrupt change of direction. #
Ifth ere is a person in theth ird row of
seats, there ar seat in front of them must
be folded back tothe driving position
before the journey begins. #
Persons in theth ird row of seats should
not rest their legs on a seat backrest
th at has been folded forw ards. Alw
ays ensu rethat all vehicle occupants ha ve
th eir seat belts fastened co rrectly and are sitting
proper ly.Pa rticular attention must be paid tochil-

seat is not engaged
The seat does not engage when folded for-
wa rds. The seat can fold backwards unexpect-
edl y,e.g. when accelerating, braking or in the
eve nt of an abrupt change of direction or an
accident.
Pe ople in the seat's sweep can become trap-
ped. #
If a seat is folded forw ards, alw aysfo ld it
back before driving o.. #
Make sure that the seat is engaged. If a seat on
the second row of seats is not
engaged, this will be shown on the multifunction
display on the inst rument cluster.
