The seats can still be adjusted when there is no
SmartKey in the ignition lock.
G WARNING
When you adjust as eat, you or other vehicle
occupant sc ould become trapped, e.g. on the
seat guide rail. There is ar isk of injury.
Make sure when adjusting as eat that no one
has any body parts in the sweep of the seat.
Observe the safety notes on "Air bags"
( Y
page 42) and "Children in the vehicle"
( Y
page 51).
G WARNING
If the driver's seat is not engaged, it could
move unexpectedly while the vehicle is in
motion .T his could cause you to lose control of
the vehicle. There is ar isk of an accident.
Always make sure that the driver's seat is
engaged before starting the vehicle.
G WARNING
If you adjust the seat height carelessly, you or
other vehicle occupant sc ould be trapped and
thereby injured. Children in particular could
accidentally press the electrical seat adjust-
ment button sa nd become trapped. There is a
risk of injury.
While moving the seats, make sure that your
hands or other body parts do not get under the
lever assembly of the seat adjustmen ts ys-
tem.
G WARNING
If the head restraints are not installed or not
adjusted correctly, they cannot provide pro-
tection as intended. There is an increased risk
of injury in the head and neck area, e.g. in the
event of an accident or when braking.
Always drive with the head restraints instal-
led. Before driving off, make sure for every
vehicle occupant that the center of the head
restraint supports the back of the head at
about eye level. G WARNING
You could lose control of your vehicle if you do
the following while driving: R
adjust the driver's seat, head restraint,
steerin gw heel or mirrors R
fasten the seat belt
There is ar isk of an accident.
Adjust the driver's seat, head restraint, steer-
ing wheel and mirror and fasten your seat belt
before starting the engine.
! To avoid damage to the seats and the seat
heating, observe the following information: R
keep liquids from spilling on the seats. If
liquid is spilled on the seats, dry them as
soon as possible. R
if the seat covers are damp or wet, do not
switch on the seat heating. The seat heat-
ing should also not be used to dry the seats. R
clean the seat covers as recommended;
see the "Interior care" section. R
do not transport heavy loads on the seats.
Do not place sharp object sont he seat
cushions, e.g. knives, nails or tools. The
seats should only be occupied by passen-
gers, if possible. R
when the seat heating is in operation, do
not cover the seats with insulating materi-
als, e.g. blankets ,c oats, bags, seat covers,
child seats or booster seats.
! Make sure that there are no object sint he
footwell under or behind the seats when mov-
ing the seats back. There is ar isk that the
seats and/or the object sc ould be damaged.
i The head restraints are equipped with the
NECK-PRO system ( Y
page 50). For this rea-
son, it is not possible to remove the head
restraints from the seats.

You can adjust the contour of the seat backrests
individually to provide optimum support for your
back.
Switching th es eat heating on/off
Switching on/off
G WARNING
Repeatedly switching on the seat heatin gc an
cause the seat cushio na nd backrest pads to
becom ev ery hot .T he health of person sw ith
limited temperature sensitivity or al imited
ability to react to excessively high tempera-
ture sm ay be affected or the ym ay even suffer
burn-like injuries. There is ar isk of injury.
Therefore, do not switc ht he seat heatin go n
repeatedly.
Driver' sa nd front-passenger seat
The three red indicator lamps in the button indi-
cat et he heatin gl evel you have selected.
The syste ma utomatically switches down from
level 3 to level 2 afte ra pproximately eight
minutes.
The syste ma utomatically switches down from
level 2 to level 1 afte ra pproximately ten
minutes.
The syste ma utomatically switches off approx-
imately 20 minutes afte ritiss et to level 1 .X
Make sure that the SmartKey is in position 1
or 2 in the ignition lock.X
To switch on: press button C repeatedly
until the desired heatin gl evel is set.X
To switch off: press button C repeatedly
until all the indicator lamps go out. Problem sw ith th es eat heatingThe seat heatin gh as switched off prematurely
or cannot be switched on. The vehicle's electri-
cal syste mv oltage is too low because too many
electrical consumers are switched on. X
Switch off electrical consumers that you do
not need, such as the rear window defroster
or interior lighting. X

AIRSCARF
Switching on/off
G WARNING
When AIRSCARF is switched on, very hot air
can flow from the vents in the head restraints.
This could result in burns in the immediate
vicinity of the air vents. There is ar isk of injury.
Reduce the heater output befor eitb ecomes
too hot.
The AIRSCARF function warms the head and
nec ka rea of vehicle occupant sw ith warm air.
The warm air flows out of the holes in the head
restraints.

Make sure that the SmartKey is in position 2
in the ignition lock. X
To switch on: press button C .

up. The blower starts up afte rap reheating
