Mercedes-Benz, the operating saf ety of theve hi‐
cle may be jeopardised. Saf ety-re leva nt sy stems,
e.g. the brake sy stem, may malfunction. Use only
ge nuine Mercedes-Benz GenuineParts or pa rts of
equal quality. Use only tyres, wheels and acces‐
sory parts that are appr ovedfo ryo ur vehicle
model.
Mercedes-Benz tests original parts, con version
parts and accessory parts that ha vebeen
appr ovedfo ryo ur vehicle model forre liability,
saf ety and suitabilit y.Despite ongoing ma rket
re sear ch, Mercedes-Benz is unable toassess
ot her parts. Mercedes-Benz accepts no responsi‐
bility forth e use of such parts in Mercedes-Benz
ve hicles, even if they have been appr oved of fi‐
cially or independently byate sting centre.
Cer tain parts are only of ficially appr ovedfor
ins tallation or modification if they comply wi th
legal requirements. All genuine Mercedes-Benz
GenuineParts meet there gistration requirements.
The use of non-appr oved parts may in validate the
ve hicle's general ope rating pe rmit.
This is the case in thefo llowing situations:
R theve hicle type changes from that stated in
th ege neral ope rating pe rmit.
R other road users could be endangered.
R theex haust gas or noise le vels are adversely
af fected.

(VIN) and engine number when ordering genuine

Note s on body/equipment mounting direc‐
tives
Fo r saf etyre asons, ha veadd-on equipment pro‐
duced and fitted in accordance wi th theva lid
Mercedes-Benz body/equipment mounting direc‐
tives. These body/equipment mounting directives
ensure that thech assis and add-on equipment
fo rm one unit and that the greatest possible le vel
of operational and driving saf ety is achie ved.
Bo th vehicle manufacturers and body manufac‐
turers must alw ays ensure that the products they
manufacture come into circulation only in a safe
st ate and do not pose any risks topeople. Other‐
wise, there may be consequences under civil,
criminal or public la w.All manu facturers are re
sponsible forth e products that they have man‐
ufactured. Manufacturers of attachments, add-on
equipment, ins tallations and con versions must
guarantee compliance with Directive
2001/95/EC on general product sa fety.
Mercedes-Benz recommends thefo llowing proce‐
dure for saf etyre asons:
R Do not make any other changes totheve hi‐
cle.
R Obtain appr oval from Mercedes-Benz in the
eve nt of deviations from the appr oved body/
equipment mounting directives.
Ac cep tance tests per form ed bypublic test bodies
or of ficial appr ovals do not rule out saf etyrisks.

Even seeming lyminor changes totheve hicle,
such as attaching a radiator grille in winter, are
not permitted. Do not co verth era diator. Do not

and toenable cus tomers tosafely handle these
subs tances. The reare SVHCs known to
Mercedes‑Benz AG, according tosupplier infor‐
mation and internal product information, found in
individual components of this vehicle in quanti‐

Despite careful de velopment, Mercedes-Benz AG
cannot comple tely rule out the interaction of
ve hicle sy stems with electronic medical aids such
as cardiac pacemakers.
In addition, there are components built into the
ve hicle that, rega rdless of the operating status of
yo ur vehicle, can generate magnetic fields on a
par with permanent magnets. These fields can be
fo und, forex ample, in the area around the multi‐
media and sound sy stem or also in the seating
area, depending on theve hicle equipment.
Fo rth is reason, thefo llowing can occur in isola‐
te d cases, depending on the aids used:
R medical aids malfunctioning
R adverse health ef fects
Obser vethe no tes and warnings of the manufac‐
turer of the medical aids; if in doubt, contact the

th e driver's and co-driver's side. In theeve nt of
an accident, emergency services can use the QR
code toquickly de term ine the cor responding res‐
cue card foryo ur vehicle. The cur rent rescue card
contains, in compact form ,th e most impor tant
information about your vehicle e.g. thero uting of
electric cables.

storage Data processing in
theve hicle Electronic control units
Electronic control units are
fitted in your vehicle.
Control units process data which, forex ample,
th ey receive from vehicle sensors, generate
th emselves or exch ange between themselves.
Some contro l units arerequ ired forth e safe oper‐
ation of your vehicle, some assist you when driv‐
ing, such as driver assis tance sy stems, while oth‐
ers enable comfort or inf otainment functions. The
following pr ovides you with general informa‐
tion rega rding data processing in theve hicle.
Ad ditional information rega rding exactly which
data in your vehicle are collected, sa ved and
transmit tedto third parties, and for what pur‐
pose, can be found in the information directly
re lated tothe functional characteristics in ques‐
tion in their respective operating instructions.
This information is also available online and,
depending on theve hicle equipment, digitally.
Pe rsonal data
Every vehicle is identified bya unique vehicle
identification number. Depending on the count ry,
th is vehicle identification number can be used by,
fo rex ample, go vernmental authorities todeter‐
mine the identity of theow ner. The reare other
possibilities for using data collected from the
ve hicle toidentify theow ner or driver, su chas
th e licence plate number.
Therefore, data generated or processed bycon‐
trol units may be attributa bletoa person or,
under cer tain conditions, become att ributable to
a person. Depending on which vehicle data are
av ailable, it may be possible tomake inferences
about, forex ample, your driving behaviour, your
location, your route or your use pat tern s.
Legal requirements rega rding the disclosure
of data
If legally requ ired todo so, manufacturers are, in
individual cases, legally obliged toprov ide gov‐
ernmental entities, upon request and tothe
ex tent requ ired, data stored bythe manufacturer.
Fo rex ample, this may be the case during the
in ve stigation of a criminal of fence.
Go vernmental entities are themselves, in individ‐
ual cases and within the applicable legal frame‐
wo rk, authorised toread out data from theve hi‐
cle. In the case of an accident, information that
can help with an in vestigation can, therefore, be
ta ke n from the airbag cont rol unit, forex ample.
Operational data in theve hicle
This is data rega rding the operation of theve hi‐
cle, which ha vebeen processed bycontrol units.
This includes thefo llowing data, forex ample:

longitudinal acceleration, lateral acceleration,
number of wheel revo lutions or thefast ened

The automatic co-driver airbag shutoff is able to
de tect whe ther the co-driver seat is occupied by
a person or a child restra int sy stem. The co-driver
airbag is enabled or disabled accordingly. &

objects under the co-driver seat
Objects trapped under the co-driver seat can
inter fere with the function of the automatic
co-driver airbag shutoff or damage the sys‐
te m. #
Do not store any objects under the co-
driver seat. #
When the co-driver seat is occupied,
make sure that no objects are trapped
under the co-driver seat. When
fitting a child restra int sy stem tothe co-
driver seat, alw ays make sure of thefo llowing:
R Ensure that thech ild restra int sy stem is posi‐
tioned cor rectly (/ page 40).
R Always comply with thech ild restra int sy stem
manufacturer's ins tallation instructions.
R Never place objects (e.g. cushions) under or
behind thech ild restra int sy stem.
R The entire base of thech ild restra int sy stem
must alw aysre st on the sitting sur face of the
co-driver seat.
R The ba ckrest of thefo rw ard-facing child
re stra int sy stem must, as far as possible, be
re sting on the seat backrest of the co-driver
seat.
R The child restra int sy stem must not touch the
ro of or be put under stra in by the head
re stra ints. Adjust the seat backrest inclina‐
tion and the head restra int setting accord‐
ingly. &
WARNING Risk of injury or death dueto
objects between the seat sur face and the
ch ild restra int sy stem
Objects between the sitting sur face and the
ch ild restra int sy stem could af fect the func‐
tion of the automatic co-driver airbag shutoff. #
Do not place any objects between the
sitting sur face and thech ild restra int
sy stem. #
Make sure that the entire base of the
ch ild restra int sy stem is resting on the
sitting sur face of the co-driver seat. #
Make sure that the backrest of the
fo rw ard-facing child restra int sy stem is,
as far as possible, resting on the seat
backrest of the co-driver seat. #
Always comply with thech ild restra int
sy stem manufacturer's ins tallation
instructions. A person on
the co-driver seat must obser vethe
fo llowing information:
R Fasten seat belts cor rectly (/ page 28).
R Sit in an almost upright seat position with
their back against the seat backrest.
R Sit with their feet resting on thefloor, if possi‐
